Young's Literal Translation

Berean Standard Bible
Let
every
soul
to the higher
authorities be
subject
, for there is no authority except from God ,
and
the authorities existing
are
appointed by God ,
Everyone
must
submit
himself
to the governing
authorities, for there is no authority except that
which
is
from God .
The authorities that
exist
have
been
appointed by God .
so
that
he
who
is
setting
himself
against
the
authority, against
God's
ordinance
hath
resisted;
and those resisting,
to
themselves
shall
receive
judgment.
Consequently,
whoever
resists
authority is
opposing
what
God
has
set
in
place
, and those who
do
so
will
bring
judgment on
themselves
.
For those
ruling
are not a terror to the
good works
, but to the
evil;
and
dost
thou
wish
not
to be afraid
of the authority? that
which
is good
be
doing
, and thou
shalt
have praise
from
it,
For rulers
are not a terror to good conduct
, but to bad.
Do
you
want
to be unafraid
of the one
in
authority? Then
do
what
is right
, and you
will
have his
approval.
for of
God
it
is a
ministrant
to
thee
for good ;
and
if that
which
is
evil
thou
mayest
do, be fearing
, for not in
vain
doth
it
bear
the sword ;
for
of
God
it
is a
ministrant
, an avenger
for
wrath
to him
who
is
doing
that
which
is
evil
.
For he
is God’s
servant
for your
good .
But
if you
do wrong
, be afraid
, for he
does
not carry
the sword in
vain.
He
is God’s
servant
, an agent
of
retribution
to the
wrongdoer
.
Wherefore
it is necessary to be
subject
, not only because
of
the
wrath
, but also because
of the
conscience ,
Therefore
it is necessary to submit
to
authority
, not only to
avoid
punishment
, but also as
a
matter
of conscience .
for
because
of
this also pay ye
tribute;
for servants
of
God
they
are, on
this
very
thing
attending
continually;
This is
also why
you
pay taxes.
For the
authorities
are God’s
servants
, who
devote
themselves
to
their
work.
render,
therefore,
to
all
`their'
dues;
to whom tribute
, the
tribute;
to whom custom
, the
custom;
to whom fear
, the
fear;
to whom honour,
the
honour
.
Pay
everyone
what
you
owe
him:
taxes
to whom taxes
are
due
, revenue
to whom revenue
is
due
, respect
to whom respect
is
due
, honor
to whom honor
is
due
.
To no one owe
anything
, except to love
one another ;
for he who is
loving
the other
--
law he
hath
fulfilled,
Be
indebted
to no one, except to one another in
love.
For he who loves
his
neighbor
has
fulfilled
the law .
for,
`Thou
shalt
not commit adultery, Thou
shalt
do no
murder, Thou
shalt
not steal, Thou
shalt
not
bear
false
testimony,
Thou
shalt
not covet ;'
and if
there
is
any other command
, in
this
word
it
is
summed up ,
in this: `Thou
shalt
love thy
neighbor as thyself;'
The
commandments
“Do
not commit adultery, ”
“
Do not
murder, ”
“Do
not steal, ”
“Do
not covet ,”
and any other commandments
, are
summed up in this one
decree
: “
Love your
neighbor as yourself.”
the
love to the
neighbor doth
work
no
ill;
the
love,
therefore ,
`
is '
the fulness
of law.
Love does
no
wrong
to its
neighbor .
Therefore love
is the fulfillment
of the
law.
And this, knowing
the time,
that
for
us,
the hour already
`is'
to be
aroused
out
of
sleep
, for now
nearer
`is'
our salvation than when we did
believe;
And do
this, understanding
the occasion.
The hour has
come
for
you
to wake
up
from
your
slumber
, for our salvation is
nearer
now
than when we first
believed.
the night did
advance,
and
the day came
nigh;
let us lay aside ,
therefore,
the works
of the
darkness ,
and let
us
put on the armour
of the
light ;
The night is
nearly
over;
the day has
drawn
near.
So
let us lay aside the deeds
of darkness and put on the armor
of light .
as in day-time
, let
us
walk
becomingly;
not in revellings
and drunkennesses
, not in chamberings
and lasciviousnesses
, not in strife
and emulation;
Let
us
behave
decently,
as in the
daytime
, not in carousing
and drunkenness
, not in sexual
immorality
and debauchery
, not in dissension
and jealousy.
but
put
ye
on
the Lord Jesus Christ, and for
the
flesh
take
no forethought
--
for desires.
Instead,
clothe
yourselves
with
the Lord Jesus Christ, and make
no provision
for the
desires of
the
flesh
.
