YLT
Young's Literal Translation
Everyone
must
submit
himself
to the governing
authorities, for there is no authority except that
which
is
from God .
The authorities that
exist
have
been
appointed by God .
Let
every
soul
to the higher
authorities be
subject
, for there is no authority except from God ,
and
the authorities existing
are
appointed by God ,
Consequently,
whoever
resists
authority
is opposing
what
God
has
set
in
place
, and those who
do
so
will
bring
judgment
on
themselves.
so
that
he
who
is setting
himself
against
the
authority
, against
God's
ordinance
hath
resisted;
and those resisting,
to
themselves shall
receive
judgment
.
For rulers
are not a terror to good conduct
, but to bad.
Do
you
want
to be unafraid
of the one
in
authority? Then
do
what
is right
, and you
will
have his
approval.
For those
ruling
are not a terror to the
good works
, but to the
evil;
and
dost
thou
wish
not
to be afraid
of the authority? that
which
is good
be
doing
, and thou
shalt
have praise
from
it,
For he
is God’s
servant
for your
good .
But
if you
do wrong
, be afraid
, for he
does
not carry
the
sword
in vain .
He
is God’s
servant
, an agent
of
retribution
to the
wrongdoer
.
for of
God
it
is a
ministrant
to
thee
for good ;
and
if that
which
is
evil
thou
mayest
do, be fearing
, for not in vain doth
it
bear
the
sword;
for
of
God
it
is a
ministrant
, an avenger
for
wrath
to him
who
is
doing
that
which
is
evil
.
Therefore
it is necessary to submit
to
authority
, not only to
avoid
punishment
, but also as
a
matter
of conscience .
Wherefore
it is necessary to be
subject
, not only because
of
the
wrath
, but also because
of the
conscience ,
This is
also why
you
pay taxes.
For the
authorities
are
God’s
servants, who
devote
themselves
to
their
work.
for
because
of
this also pay ye
tribute;
for servants of
God
they
are
, on
this
very
thing
attending
continually;
Pay
everyone
what
you
owe
him:
taxes
to whom taxes
are
due
, revenue
to whom revenue
is
due
, respect
to whom respect
is
due
, honor
to whom honor
is
due
.
render,
therefore,
to all
`their'
dues;
to
whom tribute
, the
tribute;
to whom custom
, the
custom;
to whom fear
, the
fear;
to whom honour,
the
honour
.
Be
indebted
to no one, except to one another in
love.
For he who loves
his
neighbor
has
fulfilled
the law .
To no one owe
anything
, except to love
one another ;
for he who is
loving
the other
--
law he
hath
fulfilled,
The
commandments
“Do
not commit adultery, ”
“
Do not
murder, ”
“Do
not steal, ”
“Do
not covet
, ”
and any other commandments
, are
summed up in this one
decree
: “
Love your
neighbor as yourself.”
for,
`Thou
shalt
not commit adultery, Thou
shalt
do no
murder, Thou
shalt
not steal, Thou
shalt
not bear
false
testimony
, Thou
shalt
not
covet;'
and if
there
is
any other command
, in
this
word
it
is
summed up ,
in this: `Thou
shalt
love thy
neighbor as thyself;'
Love does
no
wrong
to its
neighbor .
Therefore
love is the fulfillment
of the
law.
the
love to the
neighbor doth
work
no
ill;
the
love ,
therefore,
`
is '
the fulness
of law.
And do
this, understanding
the occasion.
The hour has
come
for
you
to wake
up
from
your
slumber
, for our salvation is
nearer
now
than when we first
believed.
And this, knowing
the time,
that
for
us,
the hour already
`is'
to be
aroused
out
of
sleep
, for now
nearer
`is'
our salvation than when we did
believe;
The night is
nearly
over;
the day has
drawn
near.
So
let us lay aside the deeds
of darkness and put on the armor
of light .
the night did
advance,
and
the day came
nigh;
let us lay aside ,
therefore,
the works
of the
darkness ,
and let
us
put on the armour
of the
light ;
Let
us
behave
decently,
as in the
daytime
, not in carousing
and drunkenness
, not in sexual
immorality
and debauchery
, not in dissension
and jealousy.
as in day-time
, let
us
walk
becomingly;
not in revellings
and drunkennesses
, not in chamberings
and lasciviousnesses
, not in strife
and emulation;
Instead,
clothe
yourselves
with
the Lord Jesus Christ, and make
no
provision
for the desires
of
the
flesh.
but
put
ye
on
the Lord Jesus Christ, and for the flesh take
no
forethought
--
for
desires
.
