A Psalm ,
by
David. O
Jehovah,
I have
called
Thee
, haste
to me ,
Give
ear
`to'
my voice when I call to Thee
.
A Psalm of
David. I call
upon
You
, O
LORD;
come
quickly
to me .
Hear
my voice when I call to You
.
My prayer is
prepared
--
incense
before Thee
, The
lifting
up
of
my hands --
the evening present
.
May
my prayer be
set
before You
like
incense
, my uplifted
hands like
the evening offering
.
Set, O Jehovah
, a
watch
for
my mouth ,
Watch Thou
over
the door of my lips.
Set a
guard
, O LORD
, over
my mouth ;
keep
watch at
the door of my lips.
Incline
not my heart to an
evil thing ,
To
do
habitually
actions
in wickedness ,
With men working
iniquity ,
Yea,
I
eat
not of
their pleasant
things
.
Do
not let
my heart be
drawn
to any
evil thing or
take
part
in works
of
wickedness with men who
do
iniquity ;
let
me
not feast
on
their delicacies
.
The righteous doth
beat
me `in'
kindness
. And
doth
reprove
me,
Oil of
the
head
my head disalloweth
not ,
For still
my prayer `
is '
about
their
vexations
.
Let
the righteous man
strike
me ;
let
his
rebuke
be
an
act
of
loving
devotion
. It
is
oil for
my head ;
let
me
not refuse
it.
For my prayer is ever
against
the
deeds
of
the
wicked
.
Their judges
have
been
released
by
the sides
of
a
rock
, And
they
have
heard
my sayings
, For they have
been
pleasant.
When
their rulers
are
thrown
down
from
the cliffs
, the
people
will
listen
to
my words
, for they are
pleasant.
As one tilling
and ripping
up in
the land
, Have
our bones been scattered at the command
of Saul
.
As when
one plows
and breaks
up the soil
, so
our bones have
been scattered at the mouth
of Sheol
.
But to
Thee,
O
Jehovah,
my Lord,
`are'
mine
eyes, In Thee
I have
trusted,
Make
not bare
my soul.
But my eyes are
fixed
on
You
, O
GOD
the
Lord.
In You
I seek
refuge;
do
not leave
my soul defenseless
.
Keep me from the gin
they laid for me, Even
snares
of
workers
of iniquity
.
Keep me from the snares
they have
laid for me, and
from
the
lures
of evildoers
.
The wicked fall in
their nets together
, till
I pass over!
Let
the wicked fall into
their own
nets, while
I pass by
in
safety.
