Then
the
LORD
said
to Moses,
Yahweh
spoke
to Moses, saying,
“
Make two trumpets of hammered
silver to
be
used
for calling the congregation and for having
the camps set
out
.
Make you
two trumpets of silver ;
of
beaten
work
shall
you
make
them:
and
you
shall
use
them
for the
calling of
the congregation ,
and for the journeying
of
the
camps.
When both
are
sounded
, the whole
congregation is
to assemble
before
you at the entrance
to
the Tent of Meeting.
When they
shall
blow
them
, all
the congregation shall
gather
themselves
to you at the door
of
the tent of meeting.
But
if only
one is
sounded
, then the leaders
, the heads of the clans
of Israel, are
to
gather before
you.
If they
blow
but
one, then the princes
, the heads of the thousands
of Israel, shall
gather themselves
to
you.
When you sound
short
blasts
, the camps that lie on the east side are
to
set
out
.
When you blow
an
alarm
, the camps that lie on the east side shall
take
their
journey
.
When you sound
the short
blasts
a
second time, the camps that lie on the south side are
to
set
out.
The
blasts
are
to
signal
them
to
set
out
.
When you blow
an
alarm
the second time, the camps that lie on the south side shall
take
their
journey:
they
shall
blow
an
alarm
for
their
journeys
.
To
convene
the assembly, you are
to
sound
long
blasts
, not short
ones
.
But
when
the assembly is
to
be
gathered
together
, you shall
blow
, but
you
shall
not sound
an
alarm
.
The sons of Aaron, the priests, are
to
sound
the trumpets .
This
shall be a permanent
statute for
you
and
the
generations to
come
.
The sons of Aaron, the priests, shall
blow
the trumpets ;
and
they
shall be to
you
for
a statute forever
throughout
your
generations.
When you enter
into
battle
in your land against an
adversary who attacks
you, sound short
blasts
on
the trumpets ,
and you will
be remembered before the
LORD
your God and saved from your enemies.
When you go
to
war
in your land against the
adversary who oppresses
you, then
you
shall
sound an
alarm
with
the trumpets ;
and you shall
be remembered before Yahweh
your God ,
and you
shall
be
saved from your enemies.
And
on
your joyous
occasions
, your appointed
feasts, and the beginning
of each
month
, you are
to
blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings and fellowship
offerings to serve
as
a
reminder
for
you before your God .
I am the
LORD
your God. ”
Also
in
the
day
of
your gladness
, and
in
your set
feasts, and in
the beginnings
of your
months
, you shall
blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings ,
and over
the
sacrifices
of
your
peace-
offerings ;
and
they
shall
be
to you for
a
memorial
before your God :
I am Yahweh
your God.
On the twentieth day of the second
month of
the
second
year
, the cloud was lifted
from above
the tabernacle
of the Testimony ,
It
happened
in
the
second
year,
in
the
second
month,
on the twentieth day of the month, that
the cloud was taken
up
from over
the tent
of the testimony .
and
the Israelites
set out from
the Wilderness of Sinai ,
traveling
from
place
to
place
until
the cloud settled
in the Wilderness of Paran.
The children
of
Israel
set forward
according
to
their
journeys
out of
the wilderness of Sinai ;
and
the cloud abode
in the wilderness of Paran.
They set
out
this
first time
according to the LORD’s
command
through
Moses.
They first took
their
journey
according to the commandment
of
Yahweh
by
Moses.
First ,
the divisions
of the camp of Judah set out
under
their standard,
with
Nahshon son of Amminadab in
command
.
In
the
first [place]
the standard
of the camp of the
children
of
Judah set forward
according
to
their hosts:
and
over
his
host
was
Nahshon the
son of Amminadab.
Nethanel
son
of
Zuar
was
over the division
of the tribe of Issachar ,
Over the host
of the tribe of the
children
of
Issachar was
Nethanel
the
son
of
Zuar.
and
Eliab
son
of
Helon
was
over the division
of the tribe of Zebulun.
Over the host
of the tribe of the
children
of
Zebulun was
Eliab
the
son
of
Helon
.
Then
the tabernacle
was taken down ,
and the Gershonites
and the Merarites
set
out
, transporting
it
.
The tent
was taken down ;
and the sons
of
Gershon
and the sons
of
Merari
, who
bore
the
tent,
set
forward
.
Then
the divisions
of the camp of Reuben set out
under
their standard,
with
Elizur son of Shedeur in
command
.
The standard
of the camp of Reuben set forward
according
to
their hosts:
and
over
his
host
was
Elizur the
son of Shedeur.
Shelumiel
son
of
Zurishaddai
was
over the division
of the tribe of Simeon ,
Over the host
of the tribe of the
children
of
Simeon was
Shelumiel
the
son
of
Zurishaddai.
and
Eliasaph
son
of
Deuel
was
over the division
of the tribe of Gad.
Over the host
of the tribe of the
children
of
Gad was
Eliasaph
the
son
of
Deuel
.
Then
the Kohathites set out
, transporting
the holy
objects;
the tabernacle
was
to
be
set up before
their arrival
.
The Kohathites set forward
, bearing
the sanctuary:
and
[
the others]
did
set up the
tent
against
their coming
.
Next,
the divisions
of the camp of Ephraim set out
under
their standard,
with
Elishama son of Ammihud in
command
.
The standard
of the camp of the
children
of
Ephraim set forward
according
to
their hosts:
and
over
his
host
was
Elishama the
son of Ammihud.
Gamaliel
son
of
Pedahzur
was
over the division
of the tribe of Manasseh ,
Over the host
of the tribe of the
children
of
Manasseh was
Gamaliel
the
son
of
Pedahzur.
and
Abidan
son
of
Gideoni
was
over the division
of the tribe of Benjamin.
Over the host
of the tribe of the
children
of
Benjamin was
Abidan
the
son
of
Gideoni
.
Finally,
the divisions
of the camp of Dan set
out
under
their
standard
, serving
as
the rear
guard
for
all units
, with
Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai in
command
.
The standard
of the camp of the
children
of
Dan, which
was
the rearward
of
all the
camps
, set
forward
according
to
their
hosts:
and
over
his
host
was
Ahiezer the
son of Ammishaddai.
Pagiel
son
of
Ocran
was
over the division
of the tribe of Asher ,
Over the host
of the tribe of the
children
of
Asher was
Pagiel
the
son
of
Ochran.
and
Ahira
son
of
Enan
was
over the division
of the tribe of Naphtali.
Over the host
of the tribe of the
children
of
Naphtali was
Ahira
the
son
of
Enan
.
This
was
the order
of march
for
the Israelite
divisions
as
they set out
.
Thus
were
the travels
of the children
of
Israel
according
to
their
hosts;
and
they set forward
.
Then
Moses said to Hobab, the son of Moses ’
father-in-law Reuel
the
Midianite
, “
We are setting
out
for
the place of which the
LORD
said :
‘
I will give it to
you .’
Come with us, and we will treat
you well,
for the
LORD
has promised
good things
to
Israel. ”
Moses said to Hobab, the son of Reuel
the
Midianite,
Moses '
father-in-law, We are journeying
to
the place of which Yahweh
said ,
I will give it you :
come you
with us, and we will do
you good;
for Yahweh
has spoken
good concerning
Israel.
“
I will not go ,”
Hobab
replied.
“Instead,
I am
going
back
to my own land and my own
people
. ”
He
said
to
him,
I will not go ;
but
I will
depart
to my own land ,
and to
my relatives
.
“Please
do
not
leave us, ”
Moses
said,
“since
you know where
we should
camp
in the wilderness, and you can
serve
as
our
eyes.
He
said,
Don't
leave us, please;
because
you know how
we are
to
encamp
in the wilderness, and you shall
be
to
us
instead
of
eyes.
If you come
with us, we
will
share
with
you
whatever good things
the
LORD
gives
us. ”
It
shall
be,
if you go
with us, yes,
it
shall
be,
that
whatever good Yahweh
shall
do
to
us ,
the
same
will
we
do
to
you
.
So
they set out
on
a
three-day
journey
from the mountain
of the
LORD,
with
the ark of the covenant of the
LORD
traveling
ahead
of
them for
those
three days to seek a resting place for them.
They set forward
from the Mount
of Yahweh
three
days'
journey;
and
the ark of the covenant of Yahweh
went
before
them three days '
journey,
to seek out
a resting -
place for them.
And
the cloud of the
LORD
was over them by day when they set out
from the camp.
The cloud of Yahweh
was over them by day ,
when they set forward
from the camp.
Whenever
the ark set out
, Moses would
say
, “
Rise up, O
LORD!
May
Your enemies be scattered; may
those who hate You flee before You. ”
It
happened,
when
the ark set forward
, that
Moses said
, Rise up, Yahweh,
and
let
your enemies be scattered; and
let
those who hate you flee before you.
And
when it came
to
rest
, he would
say:
“
Return, O
LORD
, to the countless
thousands of Israel. ”
When it rested
, he said,
Return, Yahweh
, to the ten
thousands of the
thousands
of
Israel.
