Then Bildad the Shuhite replied:
Then answered
Bildad the Shuhite ,
and
said,
“
How long until
you
end
these
speeches
? Show
some
sense
, and then
we can
talk
.
How long will
ye
hunt
for
words
? Consider
, and afterwards
we will
speak
.
Why
are we regarded
as cattle
, as
stupid
in your sight?
Wherefore
are we counted
as beasts
, `And'
are
become
unclean
in your sight?
You
who
tear
yourself
in anger —
should
the earth be forsaken on
your
account,
or the rocks
be moved
from
their
place?
Thou
that
tearest
thyself
in thine
anger ,
Shall
the earth be forsaken for
thee?
Or shall
the rock
be removed
out
of
its
place?
Indeed
, the lamp
of the wicked is
extinguished;
the flame
of his fire does
not glow
.
Yea
, the light
of the wicked shall
be
put
out,
And
the spark
of his fire shall
not shine
.
The light in his tent grows
dark
, and the
lamp beside
him goes
out.
The light shall
be
dark
in his tent, And his
lamp above
him shall
be
put
out.
His vigorous
stride
is
shortened
, and his own schemes
trip
him up
.
The
steps
of
his strength
shall
be
straitened
, And his own counsel
shall
cast
him down
.
For his
own
feet
lead
him
into a net, and he wanders
into
its
mesh
.
For he
is
cast
into a net by
his
own
feet
, And he walketh
upon
the
toils
.
A trap
seizes
his
heel ;
a snare grips
him.
A gin
shall
take
`him'
by
the
heel ,
`And'
a snare shall
lay
hold
on
him.
A noose is hidden
in the ground, and a trap lies
in his
path
.
A noose is hid
for
him
in the ground, And a trap for
him
in the
way
.
Terrors frighten
him on every side and harass
his every
step
.
Terrors shall
make
him afraid
on every side ,
And shall
chase
him
at
his heels
.
His strength is
depleted
, and calamity is
ready at his side.
His strength shall
be
hunger-bitten
, And calamity shall
be
ready at his side.
It
devours
patches
of his skin;
the firstborn
of death devours
his limbs
.
The
members
of his body
shall
be
devoured,
`Yea',
the first-born
of death shall
devour
his members
.
He is
torn
from
the
shelter
of his tent and is
marched
off
to the king of terrors.
He shall
be
rooted
out
of his tent where
he
trusteth;
And he
shall
be
brought
to the king of terrors.
Fire
resides
in his tent ;
burning
sulfur
rains
down
on
his dwelling
.
There
shall
dwell
in his tent that
which
is
none
of
his :
Brimstone
shall
be
scattered
upon
his
habitation
.
The
roots beneath
him
dry
up, and the
branches
above him
wither
away
.
His
roots shall
be
dried
up beneath
, And above shall
his
branch
be
cut
off
.
The
memory
of
him
perishes
from the earth, and he has
no name in the land
.
His
remembrance
shall
perish
from the earth, And he shall
have
no name in the street
.
He is
driven from light into darkness and is
chased from
the inhabited
world.
He shall
be
driven from light into darkness ,
And chased out
of
the world.
He has
no
offspring
or
posterity
among his people, no
survivor
where he once
lived
.
He shall
have
neither
son
nor
son's
son
among his people, Nor
any
remaining
where he sojourned
.
Those
in
the
west
are
appalled
at his fate
, while
those
in
the
east
tremble
in
horror
.
They
that
come
after
shall
be
astonished
at his day
, As
they
that
went
before
were
affrighted
.
Surely such is
the dwelling
of the wicked
and the place of one
who
does
not know
God. ”
Surely such are
the dwellings
of the unrighteous,
And this
is
the place of him
that
knoweth
not God.
