Berean Standard Bible
Then answered
Bildad the Shuhite ,
and
said,
Then Bildad the Shuhite replied:
How long will
ye
hunt
for
words
? Consider
, and afterwards
we will
speak
.
“
How long until
you
end
these
speeches
? Show
some
sense
, and then
we can
talk
.
Wherefore
are we counted
as beasts
, `And'
are
become
unclean
in your sight?
Why
are we regarded
as cattle
, as
stupid
in your sight?
Thou
that
tearest
thyself
in thine
anger ,
Shall
the earth be forsaken for
thee?
Or shall
the rock
be removed
out
of
its
place?
You
who
tear
yourself
in anger —
should
the earth be forsaken on
your
account,
or the rocks
be moved
from
their
place?
Yea
, the light
of the wicked shall
be
put
out,
And
the spark
of his fire shall
not shine
.
Indeed
, the lamp
of the wicked is
extinguished;
the flame
of his fire does
not glow
.
The light shall
be
dark
in his tent, And his
lamp above
him shall
be
put
out.
The light in his tent grows
dark
, and the
lamp beside
him goes
out.
The
steps
of
his strength
shall
be
straitened
, And his own counsel
shall
cast
him down
.
His vigorous
stride
is
shortened
, and his own schemes
trip
him up
.
For he
is
cast
into
a
net
by
his own feet, And he walketh
upon
the
toils
.
For his own feet lead
him
into
a
net
, and he wanders
into
its
mesh
.
A gin
shall
take
`him'
by
the
heel ,
`And'
a snare shall
lay
hold
on
him.
A trap
seizes
his
heel ;
a snare grips
him.
A noose is hid
for
him
in the ground, And a trap for
him
in the
way
.
A noose is hidden
in the ground, and a trap lies
in his
path
.
Terrors shall
make
him afraid
on every side ,
And shall
chase
him
at
his heels
.
Terrors frighten
him on every side and harass
his every
step
.
His strength shall
be
hunger-bitten
, And calamity shall
be
ready at his side.
His strength is
depleted
, and calamity is
ready at his side.
The
members
of his body
shall
be
devoured,
`Yea',
the first-born
of death shall
devour
his members
.
It
devours
patches
of his skin;
the firstborn
of death devours
his limbs
.
He shall
be
rooted
out
of his tent where
he
trusteth;
And he
shall
be
brought
to the king of terrors.
He is
torn
from
the
shelter
of his tent and is
marched
off
to the king of terrors.
There
shall
dwell
in his tent that
which
is
none
of
his:
Brimstone
shall
be
scattered
upon
his habitation
.
Fire
resides
in his tent ;
burning
sulfur
rains
down
on
his dwelling
.
His
roots shall
be
dried
up
beneath, And above shall
his
branch
be
cut
off
.
The
roots beneath him
dry
up
, and the
branches
above him
wither
away
.
His
remembrance
shall
perish
from the earth, And he shall
have
no name in the street
.
The
memory
of
him
perishes
from the earth, and he has
no name in the land
.
He shall
be
driven from light into darkness ,
And chased out
of
the world.
He is
driven from light into darkness and is
chased from
the inhabited
world.
He shall
have
neither
son
nor
son's
son
among his people, Nor
any
remaining
where he sojourned
.
He has
no
offspring
or
posterity
among his people, no
survivor
where he once
lived
.
They
that
come
after
shall
be
astonished
at his day
, As
they
that
went
before
were
affrighted
.
Those
in
the
west
are
appalled
at his fate
, while
those
in
the
east
tremble
in
horror
.
Surely such are
the dwellings
of the unrighteous,
And this
is
the place of him
that
knoweth
not God.
Surely such is
the dwelling
of the wicked
and the place of one
who
does
not know
God. ”
