Berean Standard Bible
We
may
fear,
then
, lest
a
promise being
left
of entering into
His rest, any
one
of you may
seem
to have come
short ,
Therefore
, while
the
promise of entering His rest still
stands
, let
us
be
careful
that
none
of you be
deemed
to have fallen
short of
it.
for we also are
having
good news proclaimed,
even
as they ,
but the word
heard did
not
profit
them, not being
mixed
with
faith in
those who heard,
For we also received
the
good news just
as they did;
but the message
they
heard was
of
no
value
to
them, since
they
did
not share
the
faith of
those who comprehended
it.
for
we do
enter into
the
rest --
we
who
did
believe
, as He
said ,
`
So I sware
in My anger, If
they shall enter into
My rest --
;'
and yet the
works were
done
from
the foundation of the world ,
Now
we who
have
believed
enter that
rest .
As
for
the
others
, it
is
just
as God
has
said :
“
So I swore
on
oath
in My anger, ‘
They shall never
enter My rest .’”
And yet His
works have
been
finished
since
the foundation of the world .
for He spake
in
a
certain
place
concerning
the seventh `
day '
thus
: `
And God
did
rest
in
the seventh day from all His works ;'
For somewhere
He has
spoken
about
the seventh day in
this
manner
: “
And on
the seventh day God
rested
from all His works .”
and in
this
`place'
again, `If
they shall enter into
My rest --
;'
And again, as
He
says
in
the
passage
above:
“
They shall never
enter My rest .”
since then, it remaineth
for certain
to enter into
it
, and those who did
first
hear
good news entered
not in
because of unbelief
--
Since ,
then, it remains
for some
to enter His
rest
, and since
those who formerly
heard
the
good news did
not enter
because of their
disobedience,
again He
doth
limit
a certain day ,
`To-day,'
(in
David
saying
, after
so
long
a time ,)
as it
hath
been
said,
`To-day
, if His voice ye
may
hear
, ye
may
not harden your hearts ,'
God
again designated
a certain day as
“Today
, ”
when
a long
time later
He
spoke
through
David
as was
just
stated:
“Today
, if you
hear
His voice, do
not harden your hearts .”
for if Joshua had given them rest, He
would not concerning
another
day
have spoken after
these
things;
For if Joshua had given them rest, God
would not have spoken later
about
another
day.
there doth
remain
, then, a sabbatic
rest to
the people of God ,
There remains
, then, a Sabbath
rest for
the people of God .
for he
who
did
enter
into
his
rest ,
he
also rested
from his works
, as God from His own
.
For whoever
enters
God’s
rest also rests
from his own
work
, just
as God did
from His.
May
we
be
diligent
, then
, to enter into
that rest, that no one in
the same example
of the
unbelief
may
fall,
Let
us
, therefore
, make
every
effort
to enter that rest, so
that no one will
fall
by
following
the same pattern
of disobedience.
for the reckoning
of God is living ,
and working,
and
sharp
above
every
two
-edged sword, and
piercing
unto
the
dividing asunder
both
of
soul and spirit, of
joints also
and marrow ,
and
a
discerner
of
thoughts and intents
of the heart ;
For the word
of God is living and active.
Sharper
than
any
double
-edged sword, it
pierces
even
to
dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow .
It
judges
the
thoughts and intentions
of the heart .
and
there
is not
a
created
thing
not
manifest
before Him ,
but
all
things
`are'
naked
and
open
to His
eyes
--
with
whom is
our
reckoning
.
Nothing
in
all
creation
is hidden
from
God’s
sight;
everything
is
uncovered
and
exposed
before the
eyes
of
Him to whom we
must
give
account
.
Having,
then
, a great chief
priest passed through the heavens --
Jesus the Son of God --
may
we
hold
fast
the
profession
,
Therefore
, since
we
have
a great high
priest who
has
passed through the heavens ,
Jesus the Son of God, let
us
hold
firmly
to
what
we
profess.
for we have
not a chief
priest unable to sympathise
with our infirmities
, but `
one '
tempted in all
things
in
like
manner
--
apart
from
sin ;
For we do
not have
a high
priest who
is
unable to sympathize
with our weaknesses
, but we
have
one who
was
tempted in every
way
that
we
are,
yet
was
without
sin .
we
may
come
near,
then ,
with
freedom,
to
the throne of the
grace, that we may receive kindness,
and find grace --
for
seasonable
help.
Let
us
then approach
the throne of grace with
confidence
, so
that we may receive mercy
and find grace to
help us
in
our
time
of
need
.
