YLT
Young's Literal Translation
Therefore
, while
the
promise of entering His rest still
stands
, let
us
be
careful
that
none
of you be
deemed
to have fallen
short of
it.
We
may
fear
, then,
lest
a
promise being
left
of entering into
His rest, any
one
of you may
seem
to have come
short ,
For we also received
the
good news just
as they did;
but the message
they
heard was
of
no
value
to
them, since
they
did
not share
the
faith of
those who comprehended
it.
for we also are
having
good news proclaimed,
even
as they ,
but the word
heard did
not
profit
them, not being
mixed
with
faith in
those who heard,
Now
we who
have
believed
enter that
rest.
As
for
the others
, it
is
just
as God
has
said :
“
So I swore
on
oath
in My anger, ‘
They shall never
enter My rest .’”
And yet His
works have
been
finished
since
the foundation of the world .
for
we do
enter into
the rest
--
we
who
did
believe
, as He
said ,
`
So I sware
in My anger, If
they shall enter into
My rest --
;'
and yet the
works were
done
from
the foundation of the world ,
For somewhere
He has
spoken
about
the seventh day in
this
manner
: “
And on
the seventh day God
rested
from all His works .”
for He spake
in
a
certain
place
concerning
the seventh `
day '
thus
: `
And God
did
rest
in
the seventh day from all His works ;'
And again, as
He
says
in
the
passage
above:
“
They shall never
enter My rest .”
and in
this
`place'
again, `If
they shall enter into
My rest --
;'
Since ,
then, it remains
for some
to enter His
rest
, and since
those who formerly
heard
the
good news did
not enter
because of their
disobedience,
since then, it remaineth
for certain
to enter into
it
, and those who did
first
hear
good news entered
not in
because of unbelief
--
God
again designated
a certain day as
“Today
, ”
when
a
long time later
He
spoke
through
David
as was
just
stated:
“Today
, if you
hear
His voice, do
not harden your hearts .”
again He
doth
limit
a certain day, `To-day,'
(in
David
saying,
after
so
long a
time ,)
as it
hath
been
said
, `To-day,
if His voice ye
may
hear
, ye
may
not harden your hearts ,'
For if Joshua had given them rest, God
would not have
spoken
later
about
another day .
for if Joshua had given them rest, He
would not concerning
another day have
spoken
after
these
things;
There remains
, then, a Sabbath
rest for
the people of God .
there doth
remain
, then, a sabbatic
rest to
the people of God ,
For whoever
enters
God’s
rest also rests
from his own
work
, just
as God did
from His.
for he
who
did
enter
into
his
rest ,
he
also rested
from his works
, as God from His own
.
Let
us
, therefore
, make
every
effort
to enter that rest, so
that no one will
fall
by
following
the same pattern
of disobedience.
May
we
be
diligent
, then
, to enter into
that rest, that no one in
the same example
of the
unbelief
may
fall,
For the word
of God is living and active.
Sharper
than
any
double
-edged sword, it
pierces
even
to
dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow .
It
judges
the
thoughts and intentions
of the heart .
for the reckoning
of God is living ,
and working,
and
sharp
above
every
two
-edged sword, and
piercing
unto
the
dividing asunder
both
of
soul and spirit, of
joints also
and marrow ,
and
a
discerner
of
thoughts and intents
of the heart ;
Nothing
in
all
creation
is
hidden
from
God’s
sight;
everything
is
uncovered
and exposed
before the
eyes
of
Him to whom we
must
give
account
.
and there
is
not
a
created
thing
not
manifest
before Him ,
but
all
things
`are'
naked
and
open
to His
eyes
--
with
whom is
our
reckoning
.
Therefore
, since
we
have
a great high
priest who
has
passed through the heavens ,
Jesus the Son of God ,
let
us
hold
firmly
to
what
we profess.
Having
, then,
a great chief
priest passed through the heavens --
Jesus the Son of God --
may
we hold
fast
the
profession,
For we do
not
have a high
priest who
is
unable to sympathize
with our weaknesses
, but we
have
one who
was
tempted in every
way
that
we
are,
yet
was
without
sin .
for we have not
a chief
priest unable to sympathise
with our infirmities
, but `
one '
tempted in all
things
in
like
manner
--
apart
from
sin ;
Let
us
then approach
the throne of grace with
confidence
, so
that we may receive mercy
and find grace to
help us
in
our
time
of
need
.
we
may
come
near,
then ,
with
freedom,
to
the throne of the
grace, that we may receive kindness,
and find grace --
for
seasonable
help.
