YLT
Young's Literal Translation
For the law is
only
a shadow of the good things to
come,
not the realities
themselves.
It
can
never
, by the same sacrifices offered
year
after
year
, make perfect those who
draw
near to
worship.
For the law having
a shadow of the coming
good things --
not the very
image
of
the
matters
, every
year,
by the same sacrifices that
they
offer
continually
, is
never
able
to
make perfect those coming
near ,
If
it
could
, would not the
offerings
have ceased ?
For
the
worshipers
would
have
been
cleansed
once
for
all
, and
would
no longer
have
felt
the
guilt
of their
sins .
since
, would they
not have ceased to
be
offered
, because
of
those
serving
having
no more
conscience
of sins ,
having
once
been
purified?
Instead,
those sacrifices are
an
annual
reminder
of sins,
but
in
those `
sacrifices '
is
a
remembrance
of sins every
year
,
because
it is impossible for the
blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
for
it is impossible for blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
Therefore
, when
Christ
came
into the world, He said:
“
Sacrifice and offering You
did
not desire
, but
a body You
prepared
for Me .
Wherefore
, coming
into the world, he saith,
`
Sacrifice and offering Thou
didst
not will
, and
a body Thou
didst
prepare
for me ,
In burnt offerings and sin offerings You
took
no
delight .
in burnt -
offerings ,
and concerning
sin -
offerings ,
Thou
didst
not
delight ,
Then I said, ‘Here
I am
, it is
written about
Me in
the
scroll:
I
have
come
to do Your
will
, O God .’”
then I said, Lo,
I come
, (in
a
volume
of
the
book
it hath
been
written concerning
me ,)
to do, O God ,
Thy
will;'
In
the
passage
above He
says
, “Sacrifices
and offerings
, burnt offerings and sin offerings
You
did
not desire
, nor did
You
delight in them”
(although
they
are
offered
according to the law ).
saying
above --
`Sacrifice
, and offering
, and
burnt -
offerings ,
and concerning
sin -offering
Thou
didst
not will
, nor delight in ,'
--
which
according to the law are
offered
--
Then He adds
, “Here
I
am
, I have
come to do Your
will .”
He takes
away the first to
establish
the second .
then he said
, `Lo
, I come to do ,
O
God,
Thy
will ;'
he doth
take
away the first that
the second he
may
establish;
And
by
that
will ,
we have
been sanctified through the sacrifice
of the body of Jesus Christ once for
all.
in
the
which
will we are
having
been sanctified through the offering
of the body of Jesus Christ once ,
Day
after
day
every priest stands
to
minister
and
to
offer
again
and again
the same sacrifices, which
can
never take away sins.
and
every priest ,
indeed,
hath
stood
daily
serving,
and the same sacrifices many
times
offering
, that
are
never able
to
take away sins.
But
when
this
Priest
had
offered
for all
time
one sacrifice for
sins
, He
sat
down at
the right hand of God .
And
He,
for sin
one sacrifice having
offered
--
to
the
end
, did
sit
down on
the right hand of God ,
--
Since
that
time
, He waits
for
His enemies to
be
made
a
footstool
for
His feet
,
as
to
the
rest
, expecting
till
He may
place
his enemies `as'
his footstool
,
because
by a
single
offering He has
made
perfect
for
all
time
those who
are
being
sanctified .
for
by one
offering he hath
perfected
to
the
end
those sanctified ;
The Holy Spirit also
testifies
to
us
about
this.
First
He says:
and
testify
to
us
also
doth
the Holy Spirit ,
for
after
that
He hath
said
before,
“
This is the covenant I will make with them after those days, declares
the Lord .
I
will
put
My laws in
their hearts and inscribe
them
on
their minds .”
`
This `
is '
the covenant that
I will make with them after those days, saith
the Lord ,
giving
My laws on
their hearts ,
and upon
their minds I
will
write
them,'
Then
He
adds:
“
Their sins and lawless
acts
I will remember no more .”
and
`
their sins and their
lawlessness
I will remember no more ;'
And where these have
been
forgiven
, an
offering for sin is
no
longer
needed
.
and where forgiveness
of
these `is'
, there
is
no
more
offering for sin.
Therefore, brothers
, since
we
have
confidence
to
enter
the Most
Holy Place
by
the blood of Jesus,
Having,
therefore, brethren
, boldness
for
the entrance
into
the
holy places,
in
the blood of Jesus,
by
the
new
and
living
way opened
for us through the curtain
of
His
body
,
which
way he
did
initiate
for us --
new
and
living,
through the vail
, that
is,
his
flesh
--
and since
we
have
a great
priest over the house of God,
and a high
priest over the house of God,
let
us
draw near with a sincere
heart in full assurance of faith, having our
hearts sprinkled to
cleanse
us
from a
guilty
conscience and our
bodies
washed
with pure water .
may
we
draw near with a true
heart ,
in full assurance of faith, having the
hearts sprinkled from an
evil
conscience ,
and having
the
body
bathed
with pure water ;
Let
us
hold resolutely
to
the hope we
profess
, for He who promised
is
faithful.
may
we
hold fast
the unwavering
profession
of
the
hope, (
for faithful
`is'
He who did
promise),
And let
us
consider how
to
spur
one another on
to love and good deeds.
and may
we
consider one another to provoke
to
love and to
good works,
Let
us
not neglect
meeting
together, as some
have
made
a habit
, but let
us
encourage
one
another
, and all
the more as you
see the Day approaching
.
not forsaking
the
assembling
of
ourselves
together, as a custom
of
certain
`is'
, but exhorting
, and so
much
the more as ye
see the day coming
nigh
.
If
we deliberately
go
on
sinning after we
have
received
the knowledge of the truth ,
no further
sacrifice
for sins remains
,
For
we --
willfully
sinning after the receiving
the
full
knowledge of the truth --
no more
for sins doth
there
remain
a
sacrifice
,
but only
a fearful expectation
of judgment and of
raging
fire
that
will
consume
all
adversaries.
but a certain
fearful looking
for
of judgment ,
and fiery
zeal,
about
to
devour
the
opposers;
Anyone
who rejected
the
law of Moses died
without
mercy
on
the
testimony
of
two or three witnesses .
any
one
who did
set
at
nought
a
law of Moses ,
apart
from
mercies,
by
two or three witnesses ,
doth
die,
How much more
severely
do
you
think
one
deserves
to
be punished
who has
trampled
on
the Son of God, profaned
the blood of the covenant that
sanctified him
, and insulted
the Spirit of grace?
of
how much sorer
punishment
shall
he
be counted
worthy
who the Son of God did
trample
on
, and
the blood of the covenant did
count
a
common
thing,
in
which
he
was
sanctified, and to
the Spirit of the
grace did
despite
?
For we know
Him who said
, “
Vengeance is Mine ;
I will repay
, ”
and again, “
The Lord will
judge His people .”
for we have
known
Him who is
saying
, `
Vengeance `
is '
Mine ,
I will recompense
, saith
the
Lord;'
and again, `
The Lord shall
judge His people ;'
--
It
is
a
fearful thing
to
fall
into the hands of the
living God.
fearful `is'
the
falling
into the hands of a
living God.
Remember
the early
days that
you
were
in
the
light.
In those
days
, you
endured
a
great
conflict in
the
face
of suffering.
And
call
to
your
remembrance
the former
days ,
in which
, having
been
enlightened,
ye
did
endure
much
conflict of sufferings,
Sometimes
you
were
publicly
exposed
to
ridicule
and persecution;
at
other
times
you
were
partners with
those who
were
so treated.
partly
both
with
reproaches
and tribulations
being
made
spectacles,
and
partly
having
become
partners of
those so living,
You
sympathized
with those
in
prison
and joyfully
accepted
the confiscation
of your property
, knowing that you
yourselves had
a better and permanent
possession
.
for
also
with my
bonds
ye
sympathised,
and the robbery
of your goods
with
joy
ye
did
receive
, knowing that ye
have
in
yourselves a better substance
in
the
heavens,
and an
enduring
one
.
So
do
not throw
away your confidence;
it
holds
a
great reward .
Ye
may
not cast
away ,
then,
your boldness,
which
hath
great recompense
of
reward ,
You
need to
persevere
, so
that after
you
have
done
the will of God, you
will
receive what
He
has
promised.
for
of
patience
ye
have
need, that the will of God having
done
, ye
may
receive the
promise,
For ,
“In
just
a little while
, He who is coming will come and will not delay.
for yet
a very
very
little, He who is coming will come ,
and will not tarry;
But
My
righteous one
will
live
by faith ;
and if he shrinks
back, I
will
take
no pleasure in him .”
and
`the
righteous by faith shall
live,'
and `
if he may
draw
back, My
soul
hath
no pleasure in him ,'
But
we are not of those who
shrink
back and
are
destroyed
, but of those who
have
faith
and
preserve
their
souls
.
and
we are not of those drawing
back to
destruction
, but of those believing
to
a
preserving
of
soul
.
