Now
the whole world
had
one language and a
common
form
of speech.
The whole earth
was
of
one language and of one
speech.
And
as people
journeyed
eastward
, they found a plain in the land of Shinar and settled
there.
It
happened,
as they
traveled
east
, that
they found a plain in the land of Shinar ;
and they
lived
there.
And
they said to
one another, “
Come, let
us
make bricks
and bake
them thoroughly. ”
So
they used
brick instead
of
stone, and tar instead
of
mortar.
They said one to
another, "
Come, let's
make brick,
and burn
them thoroughly. "
They had
brick for
stone, and they
used
tar for
mortar.
“Come,”
they said, “let
us
build for
ourselves
a city with
a tower that
reaches to the heavens
, that
we
may
make a name for
ourselves
and
not
be scattered over
the face
of all
the earth. ”
They said, "Come,
let's
build us
a city ,
and
a tower ,
whose
top
reaches to the sky
, and
let's
make us
a name ;
lest
we
be scattered abroad
on
the surface
of the whole
earth. "
Then
the
LORD
came down to see the city and the tower that
the sons
of men were
building
.
Yahweh
came down to see the city and the tower ,
which
the children
of men built
.
And
the
LORD
said, “If
they have
begun
to
do
this
as
one people speaking
the
same
language
, then
nothing
they devise
will be beyond
them.
Yahweh
said, "Behold,
they are
one people, and
they have
all
one
language;
and
this
is
what
they
begin
to
do.
Now
nothing
will be withheld
from
them ,
which
they
intend
to
do
.
Come, let
Us
go down and confuse their language, so
that they will
not understand one another’s
speech. ”
Come, let's
go down ,
and there
confuse their language, that they may
not understand one another's
speech. "
So the
LORD
scattered them from there over
the face
of all the earth ,
and
they stopped building the city.
So Yahweh
scattered them abroad
from there on
the surface
of all the earth .
They stopped building the city.
That
is
why
it is
called Babel, for
there
the
LORD
confused the language of the whole
world
, and
from that
place
the
LORD
scattered them over
the face
of all the earth.
Therefore
the
name
of
it was
called Babel, because
Yahweh
confused the language of all
the earth
, there.
From there,
Yahweh
scattered them abroad
on
the surface
of all the earth.

lived
after he became
the father of Reu two

of
sons and daughters.
When

, he
became the father of Serug.

sons and daughters.

lived
after he became
the father of Terah one

of
sons and daughters.

years old
, he
became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran.

seventy
years, and
became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
This is the account
of Terah. Terah became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran. And
Haran became the father of Lot.
Now
this is the history
of the
generations
of
Terah. Terah became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran. Haran became the father of Lot.
During
his
father
Terah’s
lifetime,
Haran died in
his native
land, in Ur of the Chaldeans
.
Haran died before
his father
Terah
in
the
land of
his
birth
, in Ur of the Chaldees
.
And
Abram and Nahor took wives for
themselves
. Abram’s
wife was named
Sarai, and Nahor’s
wife was
named
Milcah ;
she
was
the daughter of Haran ,
who was the father of both
Milcah
and
Iscah.
Abram and Nahor took wives. The
name
of
Abram's
wife was Sarai, and the
name
of
Nahor's
wife ,
Milcah ,
the daughter of Haran who was also
the father of Iscah.
But
Sarai was barren ;
she had no children
.
Sarai was barren .
She had no child
.
And

, his
grandson
Lot son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law Sarai
the
wife
of
Abram
, and
they set
out
from Ur of the Chaldeans
for
the land of Canaan. But
when
they arrived
in
Haran, they
settled
there.
Terah took Abram
his son, Lot the
son of Haran, his
son's
son,
and Sarai
his daughter-in-law, his
son
Abram's
wife.
They went
forth
from Ur of the Chaldees,
to
go
into
the land of Canaan. They came
to
Haran, and
lived
there.
Terah lived
205
years ,
and
he
died in Haran.
The
days
of
Terah were
