American Standard Version
I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valley
.
I am a rose of Sharon, A lily of the valleys
.
Like
a lily among the
thorns is my darling
among the maidens
.
As
a lily among thorns ,
So
is my love
among the daughters
.
Like
an
apricot
tree among the trees of the forest
is my beloved among the young
men
. I delight
to
sit
in
his shade
, and his fruit is
sweet to my taste.
As
the
apple-
tree among the trees of the wood,
So
is my beloved among the sons
. I sat
down
under
his shadow
with
great
delight
, And his fruit was
sweet to my taste.
He has
brought me to the house of
wine
, and his banner over me is
love.
He brought me to the banqueting-
house, And his banner over me was
love.
Sustain
me with raisins ;
refresh me with apples ,
for I am faint
with
love.
Stay
ye
me with raisins ,
refresh me with apples ;
For I am sick
from
love.
His left hand is under my head, and his right arm
embraces
me.
His left hand `
is '
under my head, And his right hand
doth
embrace
me.
O daughters of Jerusalem, I
adjure
you
by the gazelles
and
does
of the field :
Do
not arouse
or
awaken
love until the
time
is
right
.
I
adjure
you,
O daughters of Jerusalem, By the roes,
or
by
the
hinds
of the field ,
That
ye
stir
not up,
nor
awake
`my'
love ,
Until he
please
.
Listen!
My beloved approaches.
Look
! Here
he comes
, leaping across
the mountains, bounding
over
the hills.
The
voice
of
my beloved! behold,
he cometh
, Leaping upon
the mountains, Skipping
upon
the hills.
My beloved is like a gazelle
or a young stag.
Look
, he stands
behind our wall ,
gazing
through
the windows ,
peering
through the lattice.
My beloved is like a roe
or a young hart:
Behold
, he standeth
behind our wall ;
He
looketh
in
at
the windows ;
He
glanceth
through the lattice.
My beloved calls
to
me, “Arise
, my darling.
Come
away
with
me
, my beautiful
one.
My beloved spake,
and
said
unto
me, Rise
up
, my love
, my fair
one ,
and
come
away
.
For now
the winter is past; the rain is over and gone .
For ,
lo,
the winter is past; The rain is over and gone ;
The flowers have
appeared
in
the countryside
; the season
of singing has
come, and the cooing
of turtledoves
is heard in our land .
The flowers appear
on
the earth
; The time
of the
singing `of
birds'
is
come, And the voice
of the
turtle-dove
is heard in our land ;
The fig tree ripens
its
figs ;
the blossoming
vines spread
their fragrance. Arise, come
away,
my darling;
come
away
with
me
, my beautiful
one. ”
The fig -
tree ripeneth
her
green
figs ,
And
the vines are
in
blossom;
They
give
forth
their fragrance. Arise, my love
, my fair
one ,
and
come
away
.
O my dove in the clefts of the rock, in the crevices
of the cliff
, let me see your
face
, let me hear your
voice; for your
voice
is
sweet, and your
countenance is lovely
.
O my dove ,
that
art
in the clefts of the rock, In the covert
of the steep
place
, Let me see thy
countenance
, Let me hear thy
voice; For sweet is
thy
voice
, and thy
countenance is comely
.
Catch
for
us the foxes —
the little foxes that ruin
the vineyards —
for our vineyards are in bloom
.
Take
us the foxes ,
the little foxes ,
That spoil
the vineyards ;
For our vineyards are in blossom
.
My beloved is mine and I am his ;
he pastures
his flock among the lilies.
My beloved is mine ,
and I am his :
He feedeth
`
his flock '
among the lilies.
Before
the day breaks
and shadows flee, turn, my beloved, and be like a gazelle
or a young stag
on
the mountains of Bether.
Until
the day be
cool,
and the
shadows flee away
, Turn, my beloved, and be thou
like a roe
or a young hart
Upon
the mountains of Bether.
