A wise son maketh
a
glad
father :
but a foolish son is
the
heaviness
of
his mother.
The proverbs of Solomon :
A wise son brings
joy
to
his
father ,
but a foolish son grief
to
his mother.
Treasures of
wickedness
profit nothing :
but righteousness delivereth
from death.
Ill-gotten
treasures profit nothing ,
but righteousness brings
deliverance
from death.
The LORD will
not suffer
the
soul
of
the righteous to
famish:
but he casteth
away
the substance
of the wicked.
The LORD does
not let
the righteous go
hungry,
but He denies
the craving
of the wicked.
He
becometh
poor that
dealeth
with
a
slack
hand:
but the
hand
of
the
diligent maketh
rich
.
Idle
hands
make
one
poor ,
but diligent hands
bring
wealth
.
He that
gathereth
in summer is a wise son :
but he that
sleepeth
in
harvest is a son that
causeth
shame
.
He who
gathers
in summer is a wise son ,
but he who
sleeps
during
harvest is a disgraceful
son.
Blessings are upon
the head of the just:
but violence
covereth
the mouth of the wicked.
Blessings are on
the head of the righteous,
but the mouth of the wicked conceals
violence
.
The memory of the just
is blessed:
but the name of the wicked shall
rot.
The memory of the righteous
is a
blessing,
but the name of the wicked will
rot.
The
wise in
heart will receive commandments :
but a
prating
fool
shall
fall
.
A
wise heart will receive commandments ,
but foolish
lips
will
come
to
ruin
.
He that
walketh
uprightly
walketh
surely:
but he that
perverteth
his ways shall
be known
.
He who
walks
in
integrity
walks
securely,
but he who
perverts
his ways will
be found
out
.
He that
winketh
with
the eye causeth
sorrow:
but
a
prating
fool
shall
fall
.
He who
winks
the eye causes
grief,
and
foolish
lips
will
come
to
ruin
.
The mouth of a
righteous man
is a well
of life :
but violence
covereth
the mouth of the wicked.
The mouth of the
righteous is a fountain
of life ,
but the mouth of the wicked conceals
violence
.
Hatred stirreth
up strifes:
but love covereth
all sins
.
Hatred stirs
up dissension,
but love covers
all transgressions
.
In
the
lips
of
him
that
hath
understanding
wisdom is found :
but a rod is for the back of him that
is
void
of
understanding
.
Wisdom is found on
the
lips
of
the
discerning,
but a rod is for the back of him who
lacks
judgment
.
Wise men
lay
up knowledge :
but the mouth of the foolish
is
near
destruction.
The
wise store
up knowledge ,
but the mouth of the fool
invites
destruction.
The rich
man's
wealth is his strong
city :
the destruction
of the poor is
their
poverty
.
The wealth of
the
rich
man
is his fortified
city ,
but
poverty
is
the ruin
of the poor.
The labour
of the righteous tendeth
to life :
the fruit
of the wicked to
sin
.
The labor
of the righteous leads
to life ,
but
the gain
of the wicked brings
punishment
.
He
is in
the way
of
life that
keepeth
instruction:
but he that
refuseth
reproof erreth
.
Whoever
heeds
instruction
is on
the path
to
life ,
but he who
ignores
reproof goes
astray
.
He
that
hideth
hatred with
lying lips, and he
that
uttereth
a
slander ,
is a fool.
The
one
who
conceals
hatred has
lying lips, and whoever
spreads
slander is a fool.
In
the
multitude
of
words there
wanteth
not
sin :
but he that
refraineth
his lips is wise.
When
words are
many,
sin is
unavoidable,
but he who
restrains
his lips is wise.
The tongue of the just
is as
choice silver :
the heart of the wicked is
little worth.
The tongue of the righteous
is choice silver ,
but
the heart of the wicked has
little worth.
The lips of the righteous feed many :
but fools die for want
of wisdom
.
The lips of the righteous feed many ,
but fools die for lack
of judgment
.
The blessing of the LORD ,
it
maketh
rich
, and he addeth
no sorrow with
it.
The blessing of the LORD enriches
, and He adds
no sorrow to
it.
It
is
as
sport
to
a
fool to
do
mischief:
but a man of understanding hath
wisdom.
The
fool delights
in
shameful
conduct,
but a man of understanding has
wisdom.
The
fear
of
the wicked ,
it
shall
come
upon
him :
but the desire of the righteous shall
be granted.
What
the wicked man
dreads
will
overtake
him ,
but the desire of the righteous will
be granted.
As
the whirlwind passeth
, so
is
the wicked no more :
but the righteous is
an
everlasting
foundation
.
When
the whirlwind passes
, the wicked are
no more ,
but the righteous are
secure
forever
.
As
vinegar to the teeth ,
and as
smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard
to them
that
send him.
Like
vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, so is the slacker
to those
who
send him.
The fear of the LORD prolongeth
days:
but the years of the wicked shall
be shortened
.
The fear of the LORD prolongs
life,
but the years of the wicked will
be cut
short
.
The hope of the righteous shall
be
gladness:
but the expectation
of the wicked shall
perish.
The hope of the righteous is
joy,
but the expectations
of the wicked will
perish.
The way of the LORD is strength
to the upright :
but destruction shall
be
to
the
workers
of
iniquity
.
The way of the LORD is a
refuge
to the upright ,
but destruction awaits
those
who
do
evil
.
The righteous shall
never be removed:
but the wicked shall
not inhabit the earth
.
The righteous will
never be shaken,
but the wicked will
not inhabit the land
.
The mouth of the just
bringeth
forth wisdom :
but the
froward
tongue shall
be cut out.
The mouth of the righteous
brings
forth wisdom ,
but a
perverse
tongue will
be cut out.
The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable:
but the mouth of the wicked speaketh
frowardness
.
The lips of the righteous know what is fitting,
but the mouth of the wicked is
perverse
.
