of Aaron and Moses at

time
the LORD
spoke
with Moses on
Mount Sinai.

these

births
of Aaron and Moses ,
in
the day
of
Jehovah's
speaking
with Moses in
mount Sinai.
These are the names of the sons of Aaron: Nadab
the firstborn
, then
Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar .
And
these `
are '
the names of the sons of Aaron: the first-born
Nadab
, and
Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar ;
These were
Aaron’s
sons, the anointed priests, who
were
ordained
to
serve
as priests
.
these `are'
the
names
of
the
sons of
Aaron
, the anointed priests, whose
hand
he
hath
consecrated
for
acting
as priest
.
Nadab
and Abihu ,
however
, died
in the
presence
of
the
LORD
when
they
offered
unauthorized
fire before the
LORD
in the Wilderness of Sinai .
And since
they had no
sons,
only
Eleazar
and Ithamar served
as priests
during
the lifetime
of their father Aaron
.
And Nadab
dieth
--
Abihu also
--
before
Jehovah
, in their
bringing
near
strange
fire before Jehovah,
in the wilderness of Sinai ,
and sons
they had not;
and Eleazar
--
Ithamar also
--
acteth
as priest
in
the presence
of Aaron
their father.
Then
the
LORD
said
to
Moses,
And
Jehovah
speaketh
unto
Moses, saying,
“
Bring the tribe of Levi and present
them
to Aaron the priest to
assist
him .
`
Bring near
the tribe of Levi ,
and thou
hast
caused
it
to stand
before
Aaron the priest ,
and
they
have
served
him ,
They
are
to
perform
duties
for
him
and for
the whole
congregation
before the Tent of Meeting, attending
to the service of the tabernacle .
and kept
his
charge,
and
the charge
of
all
the
company
before the tent of meeting, to do
the service of the tabernacle ;
They shall
take
care
of
all the furnishings
of the Tent of Meeting and fulfill
obligations
for
the Israelites
by
attending
to the service of the tabernacle .
and
they have
kept
all the vessels
of the tent of meeting ,
and the charge
of
the
sons
of
Israel,
to do
the service of the tabernacle ;
Assign
the Levites to Aaron and his sons; they have
been
given exclusively
to him from
among
the Israelites
.
and
thou
hast
given
the Levites to Aaron and to
his sons; they are
surely
given to him out
of
the sons
of
Israel
.
So
you
shall
appoint
Aaron and his sons to
carry
out
the
duties
of
the
priesthood ;
but
any
outsider
who
approaches
the tabernacle
must
be
put to death. ”
`And
Aaron and his sons thou
dost
appoint,
and
they
have
kept
their
priesthood ,
and
the stranger
who
cometh
near
is
put to death. '
Again
the
LORD
spoke
to
Moses, saying,
And
Jehovah
speaketh
unto
Moses, saying,
“Behold
, I have taken the Levites from among
the children
of Israel in
place
of every firstborn
Israelite
from
the
womb .
The Levites
belong
to
Me
,
`And
I
, lo,
I have taken the Levites from the midst
of the
sons
of
Israel instead
of every first-born
opening
a
womb among
the sons
of
Israel
, and
the
Levites
have
been
Mine;
for all
the
firstborn
are
Mine .
On
the day I
struck
down
every firstborn
in the land of Egypt ,
I consecrated
to Myself all
the
firstborn
in Israel, both
man and
beast .
They are Mine
; I am the
LORD
. ”

the day of
My
smiting

in the land of Egypt I have
sanctified
to Myself every
first-born
in Israel, from
man unto

LORD
spoke

And
Jehovah
speaketh
unto

“
Number the Levites
by their families and
clans.
You
are
to
count
every male a month old
or
more
. ”
`
Number the sons
of
Levi
by the
house
of
their fathers,
by
their
families ;
every male from
a son
of
a
month and
upward
thou
dost
number
them
. '
So
Moses numbered
them according to the word
of the
LORD
, as he had
been commanded.
And
Moses numbereth
them according to the command
of Jehovah
, as he hath
been commanded.
These were
the
sons of Levi by name
: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
And
these are
sons of Levi by their
names
: Gershon, and
Kohath, and Merari.
These were
the names of the sons of Gershon by their clans
: Libni and Shimei.
And
these `are'
the names of the sons of Gershon by their families
: Libni and Shimei.
The sons of Kohath by their clans
were
Amram
, Izhar, Hebron ,
and Uzziel.
And
the sons of Kohath ,
by their families
, `are'
Amram
and
Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel.
And the sons of Merari by their clans
were
Mahli and Mushi .
These were
the clans
of the Levites, according
to
their families
.
And the sons of Merari by their families
`are'
Mahli and Mushi ;
these are
the families
of the Levites, by
the
house
of
their fathers
.
From
Gershon came
the Libnite clan
and the Shimeite
clan
; these were
the Gershonite clans
.
Of
Gershon `is'
the family
of
the
Libnite ,
and the family
of
the
Shimite
; these are
the families
of
the
Gershonite.
The
number of all
the
males
a month old
or
more
was
7

.
Their
numbered
ones,
in
number ,
every
male
from
a
son
of a month and
upward
, their
numbered
ones

and

.
The Gershonite
clans
were
to
camp
on
the west
, behind the tabernacle,

the tabernacle and tent, its covering, the curtain
for
the entrance

the charge
of the sons

tent, its covering, and
the vail
at
the opening
of
the tent of meeting,
the curtains
of the courtyard
, the curtain
for
the entrance
to
the courtyard
that
surrounds
the tabernacle and altar, and the
cords —
all the
service for
these

.
and
the hangings
of the court
, and
the vail
at
the opening
of
the court,
which

the clans
of the Amramites

, and the family

the

The

all the males a month old

They
were
responsible
for
the duties
of the sanctuary.
In

the charge
of the sanctuary.
The clans
of the Kohathites
were
to
camp
on
the south
side of the tabernacle ,

And the prince

for

service.
The chief
of the leaders
of the Levites was
Eleazar son of Aaron the priest ;
he
oversaw
those
responsible
for
the duties
of the sanctuary.
And

the prince
of the princes
of the Levites ,
Eleazar son of Aaron the priest ,
`is'
the oversight
of the keepers
of
the
charge
of
the
sanctuary.
From
Merari came
the clans
of the Mahlites
and Mushites
; these were
the Merarite
clans
.
Of
Merari `is'
the family
of the Mahlite,
and the
family
of
the
Mushite
; these `are'
the families
of
Merari
.
The
number of
all the males a month old
or
more
was

And
their
numbered
ones,
in

all the males from
a son

The leader
of the families of the
Merarites
was
Zuriel son of Abihail; they
were
to
camp
on
the north
side of the tabernacle.

the prince

northward
.
The duties
assigned
to
the sons of Merari were
the tabernacle’s
frames
, crossbars
, posts
, bases
, and all its equipment—
all the
service for
these
items
,
And
the oversight
--
the charge
of
the
sons of Merari --
`is'
the boards
of
the
tabernacle
, and
its
bars
, and
its
pillars
, and
its
sockets
, and all its vessels,
and
all its
service,
as
well
as
the posts
of the surrounding
courtyard
with
their bases
, tent
pegs
, and ropes
.
and
the pillars
of the court
round
about,
and
their sockets
, and
their
pins
, and their
cords
.
Moses,
Aaron,
and Aaron’s
sons
were
to
camp
to
the
east
of
the tabernacle ,
toward
the
sunrise
, before the Tent of Meeting .
They
were
to
perform
the duties
of the sanctuary as
a
service
on
behalf
of the Israelites;
but
any

who

the sanctuary

to
be

And those
encamping

the tabernacle eastward
, before the tent of meeting ,

the east,

Again
the
LORD
spoke

Moses, saying,

Jehovah

“
Take the Levites in
place
of all
the firstborn
of Israel, and the livestock
of the Levites in

of their livestock.
The Levites belong
to
Me
; I am the
LORD
.
`
Take the Levites instead
of every
first-born
among
the sons
of Israel, and the cattle
of the Levites instead
of their cattle;
and
the Levites have
been
Mine
; I `
am '
Jehovah
.
To
redeem
the 273
firstborn
Israelites
who outnumber
the Levites,
`And
`from'
those
ransomed
of
the two
hundred
and
seventy
and
three
(
who are
more
than
the Levites )
of
the
first-born
of
the
sons
of
Israel
,
you
are
to
collect
five shekels for
each
one,
according
to
the sanctuary
shekel of twenty gerahs .
thou
hast
even
taken
five shekels a-piece
by
the poll
--
by
the
shekel of the
sanctuary
thou
takest;
twenty gerahs the
shekel
`is';
Give
the money to Aaron and his sons as
the
redemption
price
for
the
excess
among
the
Israelites
. ”
and
thou
hast
given
the money to Aaron ,
and to
his sons ,
whereby
those
over
and
above
are
ransomed
. '
So
Moses collected
the redemption
money from those in
excess
of
the
number
redeemed
by the Levites .
And
Moses taketh
the ransom
money from those over
and
above
those
ransomed
by the Levites ;
He
collected
the
money
from the firstborn
of the Israelites:

shekels
, according
to
the sanctuary
shekel .
from the first-born
of the sons
of
Israel
he
hath
taken
the
money
, a
thousand
and
three
hundred
and
sixty
and
five
--
by
the shekel of
the
sanctuary;
And Moses gave
the redemption
money to Aaron and his sons in
obedience
to the word
of the
LORD
, just
as the
LORD
had
commanded him
.
and Moses giveth
the money of
those
ransomed
to Aaron ,
and to
his sons ,
according
to the command
of Jehovah
, as Jehovah
hath
commanded Moses
.
