Then was
Jesus led up
of
the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of
the devil.
Then Jesus was
led by
the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by
the devil.
And
when
he
had
fasted
forty days and forty nights, he afterward
hungered
.
After
fasting
forty days and forty nights, He was
hungry
.
And
the tempter came and said unto
him
, If thou
art
the Son of God, command
that
these stones become bread.
The tempter came to
Him
and said, “
If You
are
the Son of God, tell
these stones to
become bread. ”
But he
answered and
said
, It is written ,
Man shall not live by
bread alone, but by
every word that proceedeth
out
of
the mouth of God.
But Jesus
answered, “
It is written :
‘
Man shall not live on
bread alone, but on
every word that comes
from
the mouth of God. ’”
Then the devil taketh
him into
the holy city ;
and he
set him on the pinnacle of the temple ,
Then the devil took
Him to
the holy city and set Him on the pinnacle of the temple .
and
saith
unto
him,
If thou
art
the Son of God, cast
thyself
down :
for it is written ,
He shall
give
his angels charge
concerning thee:
and
, On
their
hands
they shall
bear
thee
up, Lest
haply
thou
dash
thy
foot against a stone.
“
If You
are
the Son of God, ”
he
said,
“throw
Yourself
down .
For it is written :
‘
He will
command
His angels concerning You
, and
they will
lift
You
up in
their
hands
, so
that
You
will
not
strike
Your
foot against a stone. ’”
Jesus said
unto
him
, Again
it is written ,
Thou
shalt
not make
trial
of
the Lord thy
God.
Jesus replied
, “
It is also
written :
‘Do
not put
the Lord your
God to
the
test
. ’”
Again, the devil taketh
him unto
an
exceeding
high mountain ,
and showeth
him all the kingdoms of the world ,
and the
glory of
them;
Again, the devil took
Him to
a
very
high mountain and showed
Him all the kingdoms of the world and their
glory .
and
he
said
unto
him,
All these
things
will
I give thee
, if thou
wilt
fall down and worship me.
“
All this
I will
give You
, ”
he
said,
“
if You
will
fall down and worship me. ”
Then
saith
Jesus
unto
him,
Get
thee
hence
, Satan :
for it is written ,
Thou
shalt
worship the Lord thy
God ,
and him only shalt
thou
serve
.
“Away
from
Me
, Satan !”
Jesus
declared.
“
For it is written :
‘
Worship the Lord your
God and serve
Him only. ’”
Then the devil leaveth
him ;
and
behold
, angels came and ministered unto
him.
Then the devil left
Him, and
angels came and ministered to
Him.
Now
when he
heard that John was
delivered
up
, he withdrew into
Galilee ;
When Jesus
heard that John had
been
imprisoned
, He withdrew to
Galilee .
and
leaving Nazareth, he came
and dwelt
in Capernaum, which is by the sea ,
in the borders
of Zebulun and Naphtali :
Leaving Nazareth, He went
and lived
in Capernaum, which is by the sea in the region
of Zebulun and Naphtali ,
that
it
might
be
fulfilled
which
was spoken through Isaiah
the prophet ,
saying,
to
fulfill
what
was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:
The
land of Zebulun and the
land of Naphtali, Toward
the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles ,
“
Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the Way
of
the
Sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles —
The people that
sat
in darkness Saw
a great light ,
And
to
them
that
sat
in the region
and
shadow of death, To
them
did
light spring
up
.
the people living
in darkness have
seen
a great light ;
on
those
living
in the land
of
the
shadow of death, a
light has
dawned
. ”
From that time began
Jesus to preach, and
to
say,
Repent ye;
for the kingdom of heaven is at
hand
.
From that time on
Jesus began
to preach, “
Repent ,
for the kingdom of heaven is near
. ”
And
walking by
the sea of Galilee, he saw two brethren
, Simon who
is
called Peter ,
and Andrew
his brother ,
casting a net into the sea ;
for they were fishers
.
As
Jesus
was
walking beside
the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers
, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew.
They
were
casting a net into the sea ,
for they were fishermen
.
And
he
saith
unto
them,
Come ye
after
me, and I will make you fishers of men.
“
Come ,
follow
Me, ”
Jesus
said,
“
and I will make you fishers of men. ”
And they straightway
left the
nets ,
and followed him.
And at
once
they left their
nets and followed Him.
And
going on from thence
he saw two other brethren
, James the
`
son '
of Zebedee ,
and John
his brother ,
in the
boat with Zebedee
their father, mending their nets ;
and
he
called them .
Going on from there,
He saw two other brothers
, James son of Zebedee and his brother John.
They
were
in a
boat with their father Zebedee
, mending their nets .
Jesus
called them ,
And they straightway
left the boat and their father ,
and followed him.
and immediately
they left the boat and their father and followed Him.
And
Jesus went about
in
all
Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and
preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all
manner
of
disease and all
manner
of
sickness among the people.
Jesus went throughout
Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every
disease and sickness among the people.
And
the
report
of
him went
forth
into
all Syria :
and they
brought unto
him all that
were sick,
holden
with divers
diseases and
torments
, possessed with
demons
, and
epileptic
, and palsied;
and he healed them.
News
about
Him spread
all over
Syria ,
and people
brought to
Him all who
were ill
with various
diseases, those
suffering
acute
pain,
the
demon-
possessed, those
having
seizures
, and the
paralyzed—
and He healed them.
And
there
followed him great
multitudes
from Galilee and
Decapolis and
Jerusalem and
Judaea
and `from'
beyond the Jordan.
The
large
crowds
that
followed Him came
from Galilee ,
the
Decapolis ,
Jerusalem ,
Judea,
and beyond the Jordan.
