“At
that
time
the kingdom of heaven will
be like
ten virgins who took their lamps and went out
to meet the bridegroom.
Then
shall
the kingdom of heaven be likened
unto
ten virgins ,
who took their lamps ,
and went forth
to meet the bridegroom.
Five of them were foolish, and five were wise.
And
five of them were foolish, and five were wise.
The foolish ones
took their lamps but
did
not
take
along
any
extra
oil .
For
the foolish ,
when
they
took their lamps ,
took
no
oil with
them:
But the wise ones
took oil in flasks
along
with their lamps.
but the wise took oil in their
vessels
with their lamps.
When
the bridegroom was
delayed
, they all became
drowsy
and fell
asleep
.
Now
while
the bridegroom tarried
, they all slumbered
and slept
.
At midnight the
cry
rang
out:
‘Here
is the bridegroom! Come out
to meet him !’
But
at midnight there
is a
cry,
Behold,
the bridegroom! Come ye
forth
to meet him .
Then all the
virgins woke
up
and trimmed their lamps.
Then all those
virgins arose,
and trimmed their lamps.
The foolish ones
said to
the wise, ‘
Give us some
of your oil; our lamps are going out. ’
And
the foolish said unto
the wise, Give us of your oil; for
our lamps are going out.
‘No,’
said
the wise ones
, ‘or
there may
not be enough for both
us and you .
Instead,
go to those
who
sell oil
and buy some
for yourselves. ’
But
the wise answered
, saying,
Peradventure
there will
not be enough for us and you :
go ye
rather
to them
that
sell ,
and buy for yourselves.
But
while they were
on
their
way
to buy it
, the bridegroom arrived.
Those
who
were ready went in with him to the wedding
banquet,
and the door was shut.
And
while they went
away
to buy, the bridegroom came;
and
they
that
were ready went in with him to the marriage
feast:
and the door was shut.
Later
the other virgins arrived
and
said
, ‘
Lord, lord, open the
door
for
us !’
Afterward
came
also
the other virgins, saying,
Lord, Lord, open to
us .
But he replied
, ‘Truly
I tell
you, I do
not
know you. ’
But he answered
and
said
, Verily
I say
unto
you, I know you not
.
Therefore
keep
watch, because
you
do
not
know the day or
the hour.
Watch therefore
, for
ye
know not
the day nor
the hour.
For it is just
like
a man going on
a
journey
, who
called his servants and entrusted
them with
his possessions
.
For `
it is '
as
`when'
a man ,
going into
another
country
, called his own
servants ,
and delivered
unto
them his goods
.
To
one he gave five talents, to another two talents
, and
to another one talent—
each according to his own
ability .
And he went on his journey.
And
unto
one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one ;
to
each according to his several
ability ;
and he went on his journey.
The
servant
who
had
received the five talents went at
once
and put
them to
work
and gained
five more
.
Straightway
he
that
received the five talents went and traded
with
them ,
and made
other
five talents
.
Likewise,
the
one
with
the two talents
gained two more
.
In
like
manner
he
also
that
`received'
the two gained other
two.
But the
servant
who
had
received the one talent
went off,
dug
a
hole
in the ground
, and hid his master’s
money.
But he
that
received the one went away
and
digged
in the earth
, and hid his lord's
money.
After a long time the master
of those servants returned
to
settle
accounts
with them.
Now
after a long time the lord
of those servants cometh,
and
maketh
a
reckoning
with them.
The
servant
who
had
received the five talents came and presented
five more.
‘Master
, ’
he
said
, ‘you
entrusted
me with
five talents .
See
, I have gained five more
. ’
And
he
that
received the five talents came and brought
other
five talents
, saying
, Lord,
thou
deliveredst
unto
me five talents :
lo
, I have gained other
five talents
.
His master
replied
, ‘
Well done, good and faithful servant !
You
have
been faithful with
a few things ;
I will put
you
in
charge
of
many things .
Enter into the joy of your
master!’
His lord
said
unto
him
, Well done, good and faithful servant :
thou
hast
been faithful over
a few things ,
I will set
thee
over
many things ;
enter thou
into the joy of thy
lord.
The
servant
who
had
received the two talents also
came and said, ‘Master
, you
entrusted
me with
two talents .
See
, I have gained two more
. ’
And
he
also
that
`
received '
the two talents came and said, Lord
, thou

unto
me two talents :
lo
, I have gained other
two talents
.
His master
replied
, ‘
Well done, good and faithful servant !

, I knew that you

a hard man, reaping where you

not sown
and gathering where you
have
not scattered
seed.
And

that
had received the one talent came and said, Lord
, I knew thee
that thou
art
a hard man, reaping where thou
didst
not sow,
and gathering where thou
didst
not scatter;
So
I was afraid and went out
and hid your
talent in the ground.
See
, you
have
what
belongs
to
you
. ’
and
I was afraid ,
and went away
and hid thy
talent in the earth:
lo
, thou
hast
thine
own
.
‘You
wicked
, lazy
servant !’
replied
his
master.
‘You
knew
that I reap where I have
not sown
and gather where I have
not scattered
seed.
But
his
lord
answered
and
said
unto
him
, Thou
wicked
and
slothful
servant ,
thou
knewest
that I reap where I sowed
not ,
and gather where I did
not scatter;
Then
you
should
have deposited
my money with
the bankers, and on
my return
I would
have received it
back with interest.
thou
oughtest
therefore
to
have put
my money to
the bankers, and at
my coming
I should
have received back mine
own
with interest.
Therefore
take the talent from him and give it to
the one
who
has
ten talents.
Take ye
away
therefore
the talent from him ,
and give it unto
him
that
hath
the ten talents.
For everyone
who
has
will
be given more
, and he will
have an
abundance .
But the
one
who
does
not have
, even what
he has
will
be taken away from
him
.
For unto
every
one
that
hath
shall
be given, and he shall
have abundance :
but from
him
that
hath
not, even that
which
he hath
shall
be taken away.
And throw
that
worthless
servant into the outer darkness ,
where
there will
be weeping and gnashing of teeth. ’
And cast
ye
out
the
unprofitable
servant into the outer darkness :
there shall
be the
weeping and the
gnashing of teeth.
When the Son of Man comes
in His glory, and all the angels with Him, He will
sit on His
glorious
throne .
But
when the Son of man shall
come
in his glory, and all the angels with him, then
shall
he sit on the
throne of
his
glory:
All the nations will
be
gathered
before
Him,
and He will
separate the
people
one from another, as a
shepherd separates
the sheep from the goats .
and
before
him
shall
be
gathered
all the nations :
and he shall
separate them
one from another, as the
shepherd separateth
the sheep from the goats ;
He will
place
the sheep on His right and
the goats on His
left.
and
he shall
set
the sheep on his right hand,
but
the goats on the
left.
Then the King will
say to
those
on His right, ‘
Come, you
who
are
blessed by
My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world .
Then shall
the King say unto
them
on his right hand
, Come, ye
blessed of
my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world :
For I was hungry and you
gave Me something
to eat ,
I was thirsty and you
gave Me something
to
drink ,
I was a stranger and you
took Me in ,
for I was hungry ,
and ye
gave me to eat ;
I was thirsty ,
and ye
gave me drink ;
I was a stranger ,
and ye
took me in ;
I
was
naked and you
clothed Me ,
I was sick and you
looked
after
Me ,
I was in prison and you
visited
Me. ’
naked ,
and ye
clothed me ;
I was sick ,
and ye
visited
me ;
I was in prison ,
and ye
came
unto
me.
Then the righteous will
answer Him, ‘
Lord, when did
we see
You
hungry and
feed
You
, or thirsty
and give
You
something
to
drink?
Then shall
the righteous answer him, saying,
Lord, when saw
we thee
hungry, and
fed
thee?
or athirst,
and gave
thee
drink?
When did
we see
You
a stranger and take
You
in ,
or naked and clothe
You
?
And
when saw
we thee
a stranger ,
and took
thee
in ?
or naked ,
and clothed
thee
?
When did
we see
You
sick or in prison and visit
You
? ’
And
when saw
we thee
sick ,
or in prison ,
and came
unto
thee
?
And the King will
reply
, ‘Truly
I tell
you, whatever
you
did for
one of the
least
of
these brothers
of
Mine
, you
did for
Me. ’
And the King shall
answer
and
say
unto
them
, Verily
I say
unto
you, Inasmuch
as
ye
did it
unto
one of these my
brethren
, `even'
these
least,
ye
did it
unto
me.
Then He will
say to
those
on His
left, ‘
Depart from Me, you
who
are
cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels .
Then shall
he say also
unto
them
on the
left hand
, Depart from me, ye
cursed, into the eternal fire which
is
prepared for the devil and his angels :
For I was hungry and you
gave
Me nothing
to eat ,
I was thirsty and you
gave Me nothing
to
drink ,
for I was hungry ,
and ye
did
not
give
me to eat ;
I was thirsty ,
and ye
gave me no
drink ;
I was a stranger and you
did
not
take
Me in ,
I
was
naked and you
did
not
clothe
Me ,
I
was
sick and in prison and you
did
not
visit
Me. ’
I was a stranger ,
and ye
took
me not
in ;
naked ,
and ye
clothed
me not;
sick ,
and in prison ,
and ye
visited
me not
.
And
they too
will
reply
, ‘
Lord, when did
we see
You
hungry or thirsty
or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to
You
? ’
Then
shall
they also
answer
, saying,
Lord, when saw
we thee
hungry ,
or athirst,
or a stranger ,
or naked ,
or sick ,
or in prison, and did not minister unto
thee
?
Then the
King
will
answer, ‘Truly
I tell
you, whatever
you
did not do
for
one of the
least
of
these, you
did not do
for
Me. ’
Then shall
he
answer them
, saying,
Verily
I say
unto
you, Inasmuch
as
ye
did it
not unto
one of these least
, ye
did it
not unto
me.
And they
will
go away into eternal punishment ,
but the righteous into eternal life. ”
And these
shall
go away into eternal punishment :
but the righteous into eternal life.
