When Jesus had finished saying
these things
, He left
Galilee and went
into the region
of Judea
beyond the Jordan .
And
it
came
to
pass
when Jesus had finished these words
, he departed
from
Galilee ,
and came
into the borders
of Judaea
beyond the Jordan ;
Large
crowds
followed Him ,
and He healed them there.
and
great
multitudes
followed him ;
and he healed them there.
Then
some
Pharisees
came
and tested
Him by
asking
, “
Is it lawful for a man to divorce
his wife for any
reason
? ”
And there
came
unto
him Pharisees
, trying
him,
and
saying,
Is it lawful `
for a man '
to put
away
his wife for every
cause
?
Jesus
answered, “
Have you
not read that from the beginning the
Creator
‘
made them male and female, ’
And
he
answered and
said
, Have ye
not read ,
that he
who
made
`them'
from the beginning made them male and female,
and said, ‘
For this reason
a man will
leave his father and mother and be
united
to his wife ,
and the two will
become one flesh ’
?
and said, For this cause
shall
a man leave his father and mother ,
and shall
cleave
to his wife ;
and the two shall
become one flesh?
So they are no longer
two, but one flesh. Therefore
what God has
joined together, let man
not separate
. ”
So that
they are no more
two, but one flesh. What therefore
God hath
joined together, let not man
put
asunder
.
“Why
then,”
they asked
, “
did Moses order
a
man
to give his
wife
a certificate
of divorce
and send
her away? ”
They say
unto
him
, Why
then
did Moses command
to give a bill
of divorcement,
and to
put
`
her '
away?
Jesus
replied
, “
Moses permitted
you
to
divorce
your
wives
because
of
your hardness of heart ;
but it
was
not
this
way
from the beginning.
He
saith
unto
them
, Moses for
your hardness of heart suffered
you
to
put
away
your
wives:
but from the beginning it
hath
not
been
so
.
Now
I tell
you that
whoever
divorces
his wife, except for sexual
immorality
, and marries
another woman
, commits
adultery. ”
And
I say
unto
you ,
Whosoever
shall
put
away
his wife, except for fornication
, and shall
marry
another, committeth
adultery :
and
he
that
marrieth
her
when
she
is
put
away
committeth
adultery
.
His
disciples said
to
Him, “
If this
is
the case between
a
man and
his wife, it is better
not to marry. ”
The
disciples say
unto
him, If the case of
the
man is
so
with
his wife, it is not expedient
to marry.
“
Not everyone
can accept
this word,”
He
replied
, “
but only
those
to whom it has
been
given.
But
he
said
unto
them,
Not all
men
can receive
this saying
, but they
to whom it is
given.
For there are eunuchs who
were born that way;
others
were made that
way
by men ;
and still
others
live
like
eunuchs for the sake
of
the
kingdom of heaven
. The
one
who
can
accept
this
should
accept
it. ”
For there are eunuchs ,
that
were so
born from
their
mother's
womb:
and
there
are
eunuchs,
that were made eunuchs
by men :
and there
are
eunuchs ,
that
made
themselves
eunuchs
for the kingdom of heaven's
sake
. He
that
is
able
to
receive
it ,
let
him
receive
it
.
Then the
little
children
were brought to
Jesus
for
Him to
place
His hands on them and pray for
them.
And the disciples rebuked those
who
brought
them.
Then were there
brought unto
him little
children,
that
he
should
lay
his hands on them ,
and pray :
and the disciples rebuked them.
But Jesus said, “Let
the little children come
to
Me
, and do
not
hinder
them !
For the kingdom of heaven belongs
to
such
as
these
. ”
But Jesus said, Suffer
the little children, and forbid
them not,
to
come
unto
me:
for to
such
belongeth
the kingdom of heaven.
And after
He had
placed
His hands on them, He
went
on
from
there
.
And he laid
his hands on them, and
departed
thence
.
Just
then
a
man
came up
to Jesus
and inquired
, “
Teacher, what good thing must
I do to
obtain
eternal life? ”
And
behold,
one
came to him
and said
, Teacher, what good thing shall
I do ,
that
I
may
have
eternal life?
“
Why do
you
ask
Me about
what
is good? ”
Jesus
replied.
“
There is only
One
who is good .
If you
want
to
enter life, keep the commandments. ”
And
he
said
unto
him,
Why askest
thou
me concerning
that
which
is good? One
there is who is good :
but
if thou
wouldest
enter into
life, keep the commandments.
“
Which ones
? ”
the
man
asked.
Jesus answered
, “‘Do
not murder
, do
not commit adultery, do
not steal, do
not bear false witness,
He
saith
unto
him,
Which? And
Jesus said
, Thou
shalt
not kill
, Thou
shalt
not commit adultery, Thou
shalt
not steal, Thou
shalt
not bear false witness,
honor your
father and mother ,
and love your
neighbor as yourself
. ’”
Honor thy
father and mother ;
and ,
Thou
shalt
love thy
neighbor as thyself
.
“All
these
I
have
kept,”
said
the young man .
“What
do
I still
lack? ”
The young man saith
unto
him,
All
these
things
have
I observed:
what
lack I
yet
?
Jesus told
him, “
If you
want
to
be perfect, go, sell your
possessions
and give to the poor, and you
will
have treasure in heaven .
Then
come, follow Me. ”
Jesus said
unto
him, If thou
wouldest
be perfect, go, sell that
which
thou
hast,
and give to the poor, and thou
shalt
have treasure in heaven :
and
come, follow me.
When the young man heard this
, he went away in
sorrow,
because
he had great wealth
.
But
when the young man heard the
saying
, he went away sorrowful;
for
he was
one
that
had great possessions
.
Then
Jesus said to
His disciples, “Truly
I tell
you, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.
And
Jesus said unto
his disciples, Verily
I say
unto
you, It is hard for a rich man to enter into
the kingdom of heaven.
Again I tell
you, it is easier for a camel to pass
through the
eye
of
a needle
than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. ”
And
again I say
unto
you, It is easier for a camel to go
through a needle's
eye,
than for a rich man to enter into
the kingdom of God.
When the disciples heard this
, they were greatly
astonished and
asked
, “
Who then can be saved? ”
And
when the disciples heard it
, they were astonished exceedingly
, saying,
Who then can be saved?
Jesus looked
at
them and
said, “
With man
this is impossible ,
but with God all things are possible. ”
And
Jesus looking
upon
`
them '
said to
them
, With men
this is impossible ;
but with God all things are possible.
“Look,”
Peter replied
, “
we have left everything
to
follow
You.
What then will
there
be
for
us
? ”
Then
answered
Peter and
said
unto
him
, Lo,
we have left all,
and
followed
thee;
what then shall
we
have
?
Jesus said to
them, “Truly
I tell
you, in the renewal
of
all
things,
when the Son of Man sits
on His
glorious
throne, you
who
have
followed
Me
will
also sit on
twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
And
Jesus said unto
them, Verily
I say
unto
you, that
ye
who
have
followed
me,
in the regeneration
when the Son of man shall
sit
on the
throne of
his
glory
, ye
also shall
sit upon
twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
And everyone
who
has
left houses or brothers
or sisters or father or mother or
wife
or children or fields
for the
sake
of
My name
will
receive a hundredfold and will
inherit eternal life.
And every
one
that
hath
left houses ,
or brethren,
or sisters ,
or father ,
or mother ,
or children ,
or lands,
for my name's
sake,
shall
receive a hundredfold ,
and shall
inherit eternal life.
But many who
are
first
will
be last ,
and the
last
will
be
first.
But many shall
be last `that
are'
first;
and first `that
are'
last
.
