The Pharisees also
with
the
Sadducees came, and tempting
desired
him that
he
would
shew
them a sign from heaven.
The Pharisees and
Sadducees came, and testing
him ,
asked
him
to
show
them a sign from heaven.
He answered and
said
unto
them, When it is evening, ye
say, It will be fair weather :
for the sky is red.
But
he answered them, "
When it is evening, you
say, '
It will be fair weather ,
for the sky is red. '
And
in the morning, It will be foul weather to
day:
for the sky is red and lowering
. O
ye
hypocrites ,
ye
can
discern the face
of the sky ;
but can
ye
not
discern the signs of the times ?
In the morning, '
It will be foul weather today,
for the sky is red and threatening
. '
Hypocrites !
You
know
how
to
discern the appearance
of the sky ,
but you
can't
discern the signs of the times !
A
wicked
and adulterous generation seeketh
after a sign ;
and there shall
no sign be
given unto
it, but
the sign of the prophet Jonas
. And
he left them, and departed.
An
evil
and adulterous generation seeks
after a sign ,
and there will
be
no sign given to
it, except
the sign of the prophet Jonah
. "
He left them, and departed.
And
when
his
disciples were
come
to the other side ,
they
had forgotten to take bread.
The
disciples came
to the other side and
had forgotten to take bread.
Then
Jesus said unto
them, Take heed and beware of the leaven
of the Pharisees and of
the
Sadducees.
Jesus said to
them, "
Take heed and beware of the yeast
of the Pharisees and Sadducees. "
And
they reasoned among themselves, saying, It
is
because
we have
taken
no bread.
They reasoned among themselves, saying, "
We brought
no bread. "
Which
when
Jesus perceived
, he
said
unto
them
, O
ye
of
little
faith
, why reason ye
among yourselves, because ye
have brought no bread?
Jesus, perceiving
it
, said
, "
Why do
you
reason among yourselves, you
of
little
faith,
'
because you
have brought no bread? '
Do
ye
not
yet understand
, neither remember the five loaves of
the five thousand, and how many baskets ye
took up?
Don't
you
yet perceive
, neither remember the five loaves for
the five thousand, and how many baskets you
took up?
Neither
the seven loaves of
the four thousand, and how many baskets ye
took up?
Nor
the seven loaves for
the four thousand, and how many baskets you
took up?
How is it that ye
do
not
understand
that I spake
it
not
to you concerning bread ,
that
ye
should
beware of the leaven
of the Pharisees and of
the
Sadducees ?
How is it that you
don't
perceive
that I didn't
speak
to you concerning bread ?
But
beware of the yeast
of the Pharisees and Sadducees ."
Then understood
they how
that he bade
them not
beware of the leaven
of bread, but of the doctrine
of the Pharisees and of
the
Sadducees.
Then they understood
that he didn't
tell
them to
beware of the yeast
of bread, but of the teaching
of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
When Jesus came into the coasts
of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom
do men say that I the Son of man am?
Now
when Jesus came into the parts
of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, "Who
do men say that I ,
the Son of Man ,
am? "
And
they said, Some say that
thou
art
John the Baptist:
some, Elias;
and others, Jeremias
, or one of the prophets.
They said, "
Some say John the Baptizer,
some, Elijah,
and others, Jeremiah
, or one of the prophets. "
He saith
unto
them, But whom
say ye
that I am?
He said
to
them, "
But who
do
you
say that I am? "
And
Simon Peter answered and
said
, Thou
art
the Christ, the Son of the living God.
Simon Peter answered, "You
are
the Christ, the Son of the living God. "
And
Jesus answered and
said
unto
him, Blessed art
thou
, Simon Barjona:
for flesh and blood hath
not revealed it
unto
thee
, but my Father which
is in heaven.
Jesus answered him, "
Blessed are
you
, Simon Bar
Jonah,
for flesh and blood has
not revealed this
to
you
, but my Father who
is in heaven.
And
I say
also unto
thee,
That thou
art
Peter, and upon
this rock I will build my church;
and the gates of hell
shall
not prevail against it.
I also tell
you
that you
are
Peter, and on
this rock I will build my assembly,
and the gates of Hades
will
not prevail against it.
And
I will give unto
thee
the keys of the kingdom of heaven :
and whatsoever
thou
shalt
bind on earth shall
be bound in heaven :
and whatsoever
thou
shalt
loose
on earth shall
be loosed
in heaven.
I will give to
you
the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven ,
and whatever
you
bind on earth will
be bound in heaven ;
and whatever
you
release
on earth will
be released
in heaven. "
Then charged
he his
disciples that they should tell no man
that he was
Jesus the Christ.
Then he charged
the
disciples that they should tell no one
that he is
Jesus the Christ.
From that time forth
began
Jesus to shew
unto
his disciples ,
how
that he must go unto
Jerusalem ,
and suffer many things of
the elders and
chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be
raised
again
the third day.
From that time ,
Jesus began
to show
his disciples that he must go to
Jerusalem and suffer many things from
the elders ,
chief priests ,
and scribes, and be killed, and the third day be
raised
up
.
Then
Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far
from thee
, Lord :
this shall
not
be unto
thee
.
Peter took him aside
, and began to rebuke him, saying, "Far
be it from you
, Lord !
This will
never
be done
to
you
. "
But he turned, and said unto
Peter, Get thee
behind me, Satan :
thou
art
an
offence
unto
me :
for thou
savourest
not the things that
be
of God, but those
that
be
of men.
But he turned, and said to
Peter, "
Get behind me, Satan !
You
are
a
stumbling-block
to
me ,
for you
are
not setting
your
mind
on
the things of God, but on
the
things
of men. "
Then said
Jesus unto
his disciples, If any
man
will
come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Then Jesus said
to
his disciples, "
If anyone
desires
to
come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
For whosoever
will
save his life shall
lose it :
and whosoever
will lose his life for my sake shall
find it.
For whoever
desires
to
save his life will
lose it ,
and whoever
will lose his life for my sake will
find it.
For what is
a man profited
, if he shall
gain
the whole world, and lose
his own
soul
? or what shall
a man give in exchange for his soul
?
For what will
it
profit
a man, if he gains
the whole world, and forfeits
his life
? Or what will
a man give in exchange for his life
?
For the Son of man shall
come in the glory of his Father with his angels ;
and then he shall
reward
every
man
according to his works
.
For the Son of Man will
come in the glory of his Father with his angels ,
and then he will
render
to
everyone
according to his deeds
.
Verily
I say
unto
you, There be
some standing here ,
which
shall
not
taste of death, till
they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
Most
assuredly
I tell
you, there are
some standing here who
will
in
no
way
taste of death, until
they see the Son of Man coming in his Kingdom. "
