It
was
now two
days
before
the feast
of
the
Passover and the unleavened bread, and the chief priests and the
scribes sought
how
they
might
sieze
him
by
deception,
and kill him.
Now the Passover and the Feast
of
Unleavened Bread were
two
days
away
, and the chief priests and scribes were
looking
for
a
covert
way
to
arrest
Jesus
and kill Him.
For
they
said,
"
Not during the feast, because
there might
be a riot of
the people. "
“But
not during the feast, ”
they
said,
“or
there may
be a riot among
the people. ”
While he
was at
Bethany ,
in the house
of Simon the leper, as
he
sat
at
the
table,
a woman came having
an alabaster jar of ointment
of pure nard --
very
costly
. She broke the jar ,
and poured it over
his
head.
While Jesus
was in
Bethany reclining
at
the
table
in the home
of Simon the Leper, a woman came with
an alabaster jar of expensive
perfume,
made
of pure nard. She broke open
the jar and poured it on
Jesus’
head.
But
there
were
some who
were
indignant
among
themselves
, saying
, "
Why has
this ointment
been
wasted
?
Some of
those
present
, however
, expressed
their
indignation
to
one
another:
“
Why this waste
of
perfume
?
For
this
might
have been sold for more
than
three hundred denarii ,
and given to the poor. "
They grumbled
against
her.
It
could
have been sold for over
three hundred denarii and the
money
given to the poor. ”
And
they scolded
her.
But Jesus said, "
Leave her alone .
Why do
you trouble
her? She has done a good
work
for
me.
But Jesus said, “
Leave her alone ;
why are
you bothering
her? She has done a beautiful
deed
to
Me.
For
you always have the
poor
with you, and whenever
you want
to,
you
can do
them good;
but you will not always have me.
The
poor
you will
always have with you, and you can help
them whenever
you
want.
But you will not always have Me.
She has done what she could .
She
has
anointed
my body beforehand
for
the
burying
.
She has done what she could to
anoint
My body in
advance
of
My
burial
.
Most
assuredly
I tell you, wherever this
Gospel may
be
preached throughout
the whole
world, that
which
this
woman
has done will also be spoken
of
for
a
memorial
of her. "
And
truly
I tell you, wherever the
gospel is
preached in
all
the world, what
she
has done will also be told
in
memory
of her. ”
Judas Iscariot, who
was
one of the twelve, went away
to the chief priests ,
that
he
might
deliver
him
to them.
Then
Judas Iscariot, one of the Twelve, went to the chief priests to betray
Jesus
to
them.
They ,
when
they
heard
it,
were glad
, and promised to give him money. He
sought
how
he
might
conveniently
deliver
him
.
They were delighted
to
hear
this
, and they
promised to give him money. So
Judas
began
to
look
for
an
opportunity
to
betray
Jesus
.
On the first day of unleavened bread, when they
sacrificed
the Passover, his
disciples asked him, "
Where do you want us to go
and
make
ready
that
you may
eat the Passover? "
On the first day of the
Feast
of
Unleavened Bread, when the Passover lamb
was
to
be
sacrificed
, Jesus’
disciples asked Him, “
Where do You want us to prepare
for
You to
eat the Passover? ”
He sent two of his disciples ,
and said
to
them, "
Go into the city, and there
you
will
meet
a man carrying a pitcher
of water. Follow him,
So
He sent two of His disciples and told
them, “
Go into the city, and a man carrying a jug
of water will
meet
you
. Follow him,
and wherever
he enters in
, tell
the
master
of
the house
, '
The Teacher says,
"
Where is the
guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples? "'
and whichever
house
he enters, say
to
the owner
, ‘
The Teacher asks:
Where is My
guest room, where I may eat the Passover with My disciples? ’
He will himself
show you a large upper room furnished and ready. Make ready
for us there. "
And
he will show you a large upper room ,
furnished and ready. Make preparations
for us there. ”
His
disciples went
out,
and came
into the city, and
found things
as he
had said
to
them,
and they prepared the Passover.
So
the
disciples left
and went
into the city, where
they
found everything
as Jesus
had described.
And they prepared the Passover.
When it
was
evening he
came with the twelve.
When evening came ,
Jesus
arrived
with the Twelve.
As
they
sat
and were eating, Jesus said, "Most
assuredly
I tell you, one of you will
betray
me
--
he
who eats
with me. "
And while
they
were reclining
and
eating, Jesus said, “Truly
I tell you, one of you who is
eating
with Me will
betray
Me
. ”
They began to be sorrowful,
and to ask him one by
one,
"Surely
not
I?"
And
another said
, "
Surely not I? "
They began to be grieved
and to ask Him one after
another, “
Surely not I? ”
He answered them
, "
It is one of the twelve ,
he
who dips
with me in
the
dish
.
He answered, “
It is one of the Twelve —the
one
who is
dipping
his
hand
into
the
bowl
with Me.
For
the Son of Man goes,
even
as it is written about him, but woe to that man by whom the
Son
of
Man
is betrayed! It would be better for that
man
if he had not been born. "
The Son of Man will
go
just
as it is written about Him, but woe to that man by whom He
is betrayed! It would be better for him
if he had not been born. ”
As
they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when
he
had
blessed,
he
broke it, and gave to them
, and
said
, "
Take ,
eat.
This is my body. "
While
they were eating, Jesus took bread, spoke
a
blessing
and broke it, and gave it
to the
disciples
, saying
, “
Take it;
this is My body. ”
He took the cup, and
when
he
had
given
thanks, he
gave to them .
They all drank of
it.
Then
He took the cup, gave
thanks, and
gave it
to them ,
and
they all drank from
it.
He said to them, "
This is my blood of the new
covenant, which is poured out for many.
He said to them, “
This is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many.
Most
assuredly
I tell you, I will no more
drink of the fruit of the vine ,
until that day when I drink it anew in the Kingdom of God. "
Truly
I tell you, I will no longer
drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it anew in the kingdom of God. ”
When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
And

However,
after I am

But

But
Peter said
to
him
, "Although

offended
, yet
I will not
. "
Peter declared
, “Even
if
all fall
away
, I never
will. ”
Jesus
said
to
him,
"Most
assuredly
I tell you, that
you
today
, even
this night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times. "
“Truly
I tell you, ”
Jesus
replied
, “
this very
night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times. ”
But he
spoke
all
the
more
, "
If I must
die with you, I will not
deny you. "
They
all said the same thing.
But Peter
kept
insisting
, “Even
if I have
to
die with You, I will never
deny You. ”
And
all the
others
said the same thing.
They came to a place which
was
named
Gethsemane .
He
said
to
his disciples, "
Sit here ,
while I pray. "
Then
they came to a place called
Gethsemane ,
and
Jesus
told
His disciples, “
Sit here while I pray. ”
He took with him Peter, James, and John, and began to be greatly
troubled and distressed.

He said to them, "
My soul is exceedingly
sorrowful,
even
to death. Stay here ,
and watch. "

this cup from me. However,
not what I desire
, but what you desire
. "
“

He
said,
“

You. Take
this cup from Me. Yet
not what I will
, but what You will
. ”
He
came
and found them sleeping ,
and
said
to
Peter,
"
Simon, are you sleeping
? Couldn't
you watch one hour?
Then
Jesus
returned
and found them sleeping .
“
Simon, are you asleep
? ”
He
asked.
“Were
you not
able
to
keep
watch for
one hour?
Watch and pray ,
that you may
not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed
is willing, but the flesh
is weak. "
Watch and pray so
that you will
not enter into temptation. For
the spirit is willing, but the body
is weak. ”
Again he went away ,
and prayed, saying the same words
.

Again he
returned ,
and found them sleeping ,
for their eyes were very
heavy ,
and they didn't
know what to answer him.
And
again Jesus
returned and found them sleeping —
for their eyes were heavy .
And they did
not
know what to answer Him.
He
came
the third time, and
said to
them
, "Sleep
on
now,
and take
your
rest.
It
is enough .
The hour has come. Behold
, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
When
Jesus
returned
the third time, He
said, “Are
you
still
sleeping
and resting?
That
is enough !
The hour has come. Look
, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
Arise
, let us be
going
. Behold
, he
who
betrays
me
is at
hand."
Rise
, let us go
. See
, My
betrayer
is approaching!”
Immediately,
while he
was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve, came--and
with
him
a multitude
with swords and clubs, from the chief priests, the
scribes, and the
elders.
While Jesus
was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived,
accompanied
by
a crowd
armed
with swords and clubs, sent
from the chief priests, scribes, and elders.
Now he
who
betrayed
him
had given
them
a sign,
saying,
"Whoever
I will
kiss ,
that
is he.
Seize
him ,
and lead him away safely
. "
Now the
betrayer
had arranged
a signal
with
them:
“The
One
I kiss is the
man;
arrest
Him and lead Him away securely
. ”
When
he
had
come,
immediately
he
came
to him
, and
said, "Rabbi!
Rabbi! "
and kissed him.
Going
directly
to Jesus
, he
said, “
Rabbi! ”
and kissed Him.
They
laid
their
hands
on
him,
and
seized him.
Then
the
men
seized Jesus
and
arrested
Him.
But
a
certain
one of those
who
stood
by
drew his sword ,
and struck the servant of the high priest, and
cut
off his ear.
And
one of the
bystanders
drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting
off his ear.
Jesus answered
them
, "
Have you come out ,
as
against
a
robber,
with swords and clubs to seize
me?
Jesus asked
the
crowd
, “
Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest
Me as
you
would
an
outlaw
?
I was daily
with you in the temple teaching
, and you didn't
arrest me. But this is
so
that the Scriptures might
be fulfilled. "
Every
day
I was with you ,
teaching
in the temple courts
, and you did
not
arrest Me. But this has
happened
that the Scriptures would
be fulfilled. ”
They
all
left
him ,
and fled.
Then
everyone
deserted
Him and fled.
A
certain
young man followed
him,
having
a linen cloth thrown
around himself,
over
his naked
body. The
young
men
grabbed
him,
One
young man who
had
been
following
Jesus
was
wearing
a linen cloth around his body. They
caught
hold
of
him,
but he left
the linen cloth ,
and fled
from
them
naked.
but he pulled
free
of
the linen cloth and ran
away
naked.
They led Jesus away to the high priest .
All the chief priests, the
elders, and the
scribes came
together
with
him
.
They led Jesus away to the high priest ,

.
Peter had
followed him from
a distance, until
he
came
into the court
of the high priest. He was
sitting
with the officers ,
and warming
himself in
the
light
of
the fire.
Peter followed Him at
a distance, right
into the courtyard
of the high priest. And
he sat
with the officers and warmed
himself by
the fire.
Now the chief priests and the whole council
sought
witnesses
against Jesus to put him to death, and
found
none
.
Now the chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin
were
seeking
testimony
against Jesus to put Him to death, but
they
did
not
find
any
.
For many gave
false testimony
against him
, and
their testimony didn't
agree
with
each
other
.
For many bore
false witness
against Jesus
, but
their testimony was
inconsistent
.
Some stood up ,
and gave
false
testimony
against him ,
saying,
Then
some men
stood up and testified
falsely
against Him :
"
We heard him say, '
I will destroy this temple
that
is
made with
hands
, and in three days I will build another made without hands. '"
“
We heard Him say, ‘
I will destroy this man-
made temple
, and in three days I will build another that
is
made without hands. ’”
Even so,
their testimony did
not
agree
.
But
even their testimony was
inconsistent
.
The high priest stood up in
the
midst,
and asked
Jesus, "
Have you no answer? What is
it
which
these testify
against you? "
So
the high priest stood up before
them
and questioned
Jesus, “
Have You no answer? What are
these men
testifying
against You? ”
But he
stayed
quiet,
and answered
nothing
. Again the high priest asked
him, "
Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? "
But Jesus
remained
silent
and made
no
reply
. Again the high priest questioned
Him, “
Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One
? ”
Jesus
said,
"
I AM .
You will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power ,
and coming with the clouds of the
sky
. "
“
I am ,”
said
Jesus,
“and
you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power and coming with the clouds of heaven
. ”
The high priest tore his clothes ,
and said
, "What
further
need
have
we of
witnesses?
At
this,
the high priest tore his clothes and declared
, “Why
do
we need
any
more
witnesses?
You have heard the blasphemy !
What do
you
think
? "
They all condemned him to
be
worthy
of death.
You have heard the blasphemy .
What is
your
verdict
? ”
And
they all condemned Him as
deserving
of death.
Some began to spit on him ,
and
to
cover
his
face
, and
to
beat
him with fists, and to tell
him, "
Prophesy! "
The officers struck
him with the
palms
of
their
hands
.
Then
some of
them
began to spit on Him .
They
blindfolded
Him
, struck
Him with their
fists, and said
to Him, “
Prophesy! ”
And
the officers received
Him with slaps
in
His
face
.
As
Peter was in the courtyard below, one of the maids
of the high priest came ,
While
Peter was in the courtyard below, one of the servant
girls
of the high priest came down
and seeing
Peter
warming himself ,
she looked at him,
and said, "
You were
also with the Nazarene ,
Jesus!"
and saw
him
warming himself there.
She looked at Peter
and said, “
You also were
with Jesus
the Nazarene .”
But he denied it ,
saying,
"
I neither
know ,
nor
understand what you are saying
. "
He went out on
the porch
, and the rooster crowed.
But he denied it .
“
I do
not
know or
even
understand what you are talking
about,”
he
said
. Then
he went out to
the gateway
, and the rooster crowed.
The maid
saw him ,
and began
again to tell
those who
stood
by
, "
This is one of them. "
There
the servant
girl
saw him and again said
to those standing
nearby
, “
This man
is one of them. ”
But he again
denied it. After a little while again
those who
stood
by
said to Peter, "
You truly
are one of them, for you are a Galilean ,
and
your
speech
shows
it
. "
But he denied it again
. After a little while ,
those standing
nearby
said once
more
to Peter, “Surely
you are one of them, for you too
are a Galilean. ”
But he began to curse ,
and to
swear, "
I don't
know this man of whom you speak! "
But he began to curse and swear, “
I do
not
know this man of whom you speak! ”
The rooster crowed the
second time. Peter remembered the word ,
how
that Jesus said
to him ,
"
Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times. "
When
he
thought
about
that,
he wept.
And
immediately
the rooster crowed a
second time. Then
Peter remembered the word that Jesus had
spoken
to him :
“
Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times. ”
And
he broke
down
and
wept.
