Berean Standard Bible
And
it
came
to
pass
afterward, that
he
went
throughout
every
city
and village, preaching and shewing
the glad
tidings
of the kingdom of God :
and
the twelve were with him,
Soon
afterward, Jesus
traveled
from
one
town
and village to
another
, preaching and proclaiming
the good
news
of the kingdom of God .
The Twelve were with Him,
And
certain
women ,
which
had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities ,
Mary called Magdalene, out
of
whom went
seven devils
,
as
well
as
some
women who
had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities :
Mary called Magdalene, from
whom seven demons
had
gone
out
,
And
Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's
steward
, and
Susanna, and many others ,
which
ministered
unto
him
of their substance
.
Joanna the wife of Herod’s
household
manager
Chuza, Susanna, and many others .
These
women
were
ministering
to
them
out
of their own
means
.
And when
much
people were gathered
together,
and
were
come
to him
out
of
every
city
, he spake
by
a
parable:
While
a
large
crowd
was
gathering
and people were coming
to Jesus
from
town
after
town
, He told
them
this
parable:
A sower
went out to sow his seed :
and as he sowed
, some fell by
the way
side;
and
it was trodden
down
, and the fowls
of the air devoured it.
“
A farmer
went out to sow his seed .
And as he was
sowing
, some seed
fell along
the path,
where
it was trampled
, and the birds
of the air devoured it.
And
some fell upon
a
rock;
and as
soon
as
it was
sprung
up, it
withered away,
because it
lacked
moisture.
Some fell on
rocky
ground,
and when
it came
up, the
seedlings
withered because they
had
no
moisture.
And
some
fell among thorns ;
and
the
thorns
sprang
up with it ,
and choked it
.
Other
seed
fell among thorns ,
which
grew
up with it and choked the
seedlings
.
And
other fell on good ground
, and
sprang up ,
and bare
fruit
an
hundredfold. And
when
he
had
said these
things
, he cried
, He that
hath
ears to hear, let him hear.
Still
other seed
fell on good soil
, where
it
sprang up and produced
a
crop—a
hundredfold. ”
As
Jesus
said this
, He called
out
, “
He who
has
ears to hear, let him hear. ”
And
his disciples asked him ,
saying,
What might
this parable be?
Then
His disciples asked Him what this parable meant.
And
he said
, Unto
you
it
is
given
to
know
the mysteries of the kingdom of God :
but to others in parables ;
that seeing they might
not see ,
and
hearing they might
not understand.
He replied
, “
The knowledge
of
the
mysteries of the kingdom of God has
been
given
to
you,
but to others I
speak
in parables ,
so
that ,
‘though
seeing ,
they may
not see ;
though
hearing ,
they may
not understand. ’
Now the parable is
this
: The seed is the word of God.
Now this
is
the meaning
of
the
parable: The seed is the word of God.
Those
by
the way
side
are they
that
hear ;
then
cometh
the devil ,
and taketh
away the word out
of
their hearts, lest
they should
believe and be saved.
The seeds
along
the
path
are those
who
hear ,
but
the devil comes
and takes
away the word from
their hearts, so
that
they may
not
believe and be saved.
They
on
the rock
are they,
which,
when
they
hear ,
receive
the word with joy ;
and
these
have no root ,
which
for a while
believe
, and
in time of temptation
fall away.
The seeds
on
rocky
ground
are those
who
hear the word and
receive
it
with joy ,
but
they
have no root .
They
believe
for a season
, but
in the
time of testing,
they
fall away.
And
that which
fell among thorns are they,
which
, when
they have
heard,
go forth
, and
are choked with
cares
and
riches and pleasures of this life, and bring
no
fruit to
perfection
.
The
seeds
that fell among the
thorns are those
who
hear
, but
as
they go on
their
way
, they
are choked by
the
worries,
riches ,
and pleasures of this life, and their
fruit does
not
mature
.
But that
on
the good ground
are they,
which
in
an
honest
and good heart, having
heard
the word, keep
it, and bring
forth
fruit
with
patience
.
But the seeds
on
good soil
are those
with
a
noble
and good heart, who
hear
the word, cling
to
it, and by
persevering
produce
a
crop
.
No man,
when
he
hath
lighted
a candle,
covereth
it with a vessel,
or putteth
it under a bed ;
but
setteth
it on a candlestick
, that
they
which
enter in
may
see the light.
No one
lights
a lamp
and
covers
it with a jar
or puts
it under a bed .
Instead,
he
sets
it on a stand
, so
those
who
enter can
see the light.
For nothing
is secret,
that shall
not be made
manifest;
neither
any
thing
hid
, that shall
not be known and come
abroad
.
For there
is nothing
hidden
that will
not be disclosed
, and
nothing
concealed
that will
not be made
known and brought
to
light
.
Take
heed
therefore how
ye
hear:
for
whosoever
hath
, to him
shall
be given ;
and
whosoever
hath
not, from
him
shall
be
taken
even that
which
he seemeth
to
have
.
Pay
attention,
therefore, to how
you
listen.
Whoever
has
will
be given more,
but
whoever
does
not have
, even what
he thinks
he
has
will
be
taken
away
from
him
. ”
Then came to him his
mother
and
his
brethren
, and
could
not
come
at
him for
the press
.
Then Jesus’
mother
and
brothers
came to see
Him, but
they
were
unable
to
reach
Him because
of
the crowd
.
And
it
was told him
by
certain
which
said
, Thy
mother and thy
brethren
stand
without
, desiring
to see thee
.
He
was told, “Your
mother and brothers
are
standing
outside
, wanting
to see You
. ”
And
he answered
and
said
unto
them
, My mother and my
brethren
are these
which
hear the word of God ,
and do
it.
But
He replied
, “
My mother and brothers
are those
who
hear the word of God and carry
it out
. ”
Now
it
came
to
pass
on
a
certain
day ,
that
he
went
into
a
ship
with
his disciples :
and
he
said
unto
them
, Let us go
over
unto
the other side of the lake. And they
launched
forth
.
One
day Jesus
said
to
His disciples, “
Let us cross
to
the other side of the lake. ”
So
He
got
into
a
boat
with
them
and set
out
.
But
as they sailed he fell asleep :
and there
came down a
storm
of
wind
on the lake ;
and
they
were
filled
with
water
, and were in jeopardy
.
As they sailed ,
He fell asleep ,
and a
windstorm
came down on the lake, so
that
the
boat
was
being
swamped,
and they
were in great
danger
.
And
they
came
to
him,
and awoke
him, saying, Master, master, we perish.
Then he
arose,
and rebuked the wind and the raging of
the
water:
and they ceased
, and there
was a
calm.
The
disciples
went
and woke
Him, saying, “
Master, Master, we are
perishing!”
Then Jesus
got
up
and rebuked the wind and the raging waters,
and they subsided
, and all
was calm.
And
he
said
unto
them,
Where is your faith? And they
being
afraid
wondered
, saying
one to
another, What
manner
of
man
is this !
for
he commandeth
even the winds and water, and they obey him .
“
Where is your faith? ”
He
asked.
Frightened
and amazed
, they
asked
one another, “Who
is this ?
He commands
even the winds and the
water, and they obey Him !”
And
they arrived
at
the country
of the Gadarenes
, which
is
over
against
Galilee.
Then
they sailed
to
the region
of the Gerasenes
, across
the
lake
from
Galilee.
And
when he
went
forth
to
land
, there
met him
out
of
the
city
a certain
man ,
which
had
devils
long time ,
and
ware
no
clothes,
neither
abode
in any
house, but in the tombs.
When Jesus
stepped
ashore
, He
was
met by
a demon-possessed
man from
the
town.
For
a
long time this
man
had
not
worn
clothing
or
lived
in a
house, but he
stayed
in the tombs.
When he
saw Jesus, he cried out ,
and fell down before him, and
with
a loud voice said
, What have
I
to
do with thee
, Jesus, thou
Son of God
most high? I beseech
thee,
torment
me
not .
When the
man
saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before Him, shouting
in
a loud voice, “
What do You
want
with me
, Jesus, Son of the
Most High God
? I beg
You
not to
torture
me!”
(
For he
had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For
oftentimes
it had caught
him :
and he was kept
bound with chains and in
fetters;
and
he brake
the bands,
and was
driven of
the devil
into the
wilderness
. )
For Jesus
had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. Many
times
it had seized
him ,
and though
he was bound with chains and shackles,
he had
broken
the chains
and been
driven by
the demon
into solitary
places
.
And
Jesus
asked
him,
saying,
What is thy
name? And
he said
, Legion:
because many devils
were
entered
into him.
“
What is your
name? ”
Jesus
asked.
“Legion,”
he replied
, because many demons
had
gone
into him.
And they
besought
him
that
he
would
not command
them to go out
into the deep
.
And the
demons
kept
begging
Jesus
not to
order
them to go into the Abyss
.
And
there was
there
an
herd of many
swine
feeding on
the mountain:
and
they
besought
him
that
he
would
suffer
them
to enter
into
them .
And he suffered
them.
There on
the
hillside
a
large
herd of pigs
was
feeding .
So
the demons
begged
Jesus
to let
them enter
the
pigs,
and He gave
them permission
.
Then went
the devils
out of the man ,
and entered
into the swine:
and the herd ran
violently
down a
steep place
into the lake ,
and were
choked
.
Then the demons
came
out of the man and went
into the pigs,
and the herd rushed
down the
steep bank
into the lake and was
drowned
.
When they
that
fed
them
saw what was
done
, they fled,
and
went
and told
it
in the city
and in
the
country
.
When those
tending
the
pigs
saw what had
happened
, they ran
off
and reported
this
in the town
and countryside
.
Then
they
went out to see what was
done;
and
came to Jesus ,
and found the man ,
out
of
whom the devils
were
departed
, sitting at the
feet
of
Jesus, clothed ,
and in his right mind :
and they were afraid.
So
the
people
went out to see what had
happened.
They
came to Jesus and found the man whom the demons
had
left
, sitting at Jesus ’
feet
, clothed and in his right mind ;
and they were afraid.
They
also
which
saw
it told
them
by
what
means
he
that
was
possessed
of
the devils
was
healed.
Meanwhile,
those
who
had
seen
it reported
how
the demon-possessed
man
had
been
healed.
Then the whole
multitude
of the country
of the Gadarenes
round
about
besought
him
to depart from them ;
for
they
were
taken
with
great fear :
and
he went
up
into the ship,
and returned
back again
.
Then all
the people
of the region
of the Gerasenes
asked
Jesus
to depart from them ,
because
great fear had
taken
hold
of
them.
So
He got
into the boat
and started
back.
Now
the man out
of
whom the devils
were
departed
besought
him
that
he
might
be
with him:
but
Jesus sent him away, saying,
The man whom the demons
had
left
begged
to
go
with Jesus .
But
He
sent him away, saying,
Return to
thine
own
house,
and shew
how great
things
God hath
done unto
thee
. And
he
went his
way,
and published
throughout
the whole
city
how great
things
Jesus had done unto
him.
“
Return home
and describe
how much
God has
done for
you
. ”
So
the
man
went away
and proclaimed
all
over
the town
how much
Jesus had done for
him.
And
it
came
to
pass,
that,
when Jesus was
returned, the people
gladly
received
him :
for they were
all waiting for him.
When Jesus returned, the crowd
welcomed
Him ,
for they had
all been
waiting for Him.
And,
behold,
there
came
a man
named Jairus ,
and
he
was
a
ruler
of
the
synagogue:
and he
fell down
at Jesus '
feet ,
and
besought
him
that
he would
come into
his house :
Just
then
a synagogue
leader
named Jairus came
and fell at Jesus ’
feet .
He begged
Him
to
come to
his house ,
For
he
had
one
only daughter, about twelve years
of
age
, and
she
lay
a
dying. But
as he
went the people
thronged
him .
because
his
only daughter, who
was
about twelve, was
dying. As Jesus
went with
him,
the crowds
pressed
around
Him ,
And
a woman having
an
issue
of
blood
twelve years ,
which
had spent all her living
upon
physicians, neither
could
be
healed
of
any,
including
a woman who
had
suffered
from
bleeding
for
twelve years .
She
had spent all her money
on
physicians, but
no
one
was
able
to
heal
her.
Came behind him,
and touched the border
of his garment:
and immediately her issue
of
blood
stanched
.
She
came up
behind Jesus
and touched the fringe
of His cloak,
and immediately her bleeding
stopped
.
And
Jesus
said,
Who touched me? When
all denied, Peter
and
they
that
were
with
him
said ,
Master
, the multitude
throng
thee
and
press
thee,
and sayest
thou,
Who
touched
me?
“
Who touched Me? ”
Jesus
asked.
But
they
all denied it.
“Master
, ”
said Peter
, “
the people
are
crowding
and pressing
against
You.”
And
Jesus said
, Somebody
hath
touched me :
for I perceive
that virtue
is
gone out of
me.
But
Jesus declared
, “Someone
touched Me ,
for I know
that power
has
gone out from
Me. ”
And
when
the woman saw
that she was
not hid
, she
came trembling ,
and falling
down before him ,
she
declared
unto
him
before
all the people for
what
cause
she had touched him ,
and how she was
healed
immediately.
Then
the woman ,
seeing
that she could
not escape
notice
, came trembling and fell
down before Him .
In
the
presence
of
all the people ,
she explained
why
she
had touched Him and how she had
immediately been
healed
.
And
he
said
unto
her,
Daughter, be
of
good
comfort:
thy
faith hath
made
thee
whole;
go in peace.
“
Daughter, ”
said
Jesus,
“your
faith has
healed
you.
Go in peace. ”
While he yet
spake
, there
cometh
one
from the ruler
of the synagogue's
house,
saying
to
him,
Thy
daughter is dead ;
trouble
not the Master
.
While He was
still
speaking
, someone
arrived
from the house
of the synagogue
leader.
“Your
daughter is dead ,”
he
told
Jairus.
“Do
not bother
the Teacher
anymore
. ”
But when
Jesus heard
it,
he
answered
him,
saying
, Fear
not :
believe only
, and she shall
be made
whole
.
But Jesus overheard
them
and
said
to
Jairus
, “Do
not be
afraid;
just
believe, and she will
be healed
. ”
And
when he came
into
the house, he suffered
no
man
to go in ,
save
Peter, and
James,
and
John, and the father and the
mother of
the
maiden
.
When He entered
the house, He did
not
allow
anyone
to go in with
Him
except
Peter, John, James,
and the child’s
father and mother.
And
all
wept
, and bewailed
her :
but he
said, Weep
not
; she is not dead ,
but sleepeth
.
Meanwhile
, everyone
was
weeping
and mourning
for
her .
But Jesus
said, “Stop
weeping
; she is not dead but asleep
. ”
And they laughed him to
scorn
, knowing that she was dead.
And they laughed at
Him, knowing that she was dead.
And
he
put
them
all
out,
and
took her by the hand ,
and called ,
saying
, Maid
, arise.
But
Jesus
took her by the hand and called out
, “Child
, get
up!”
And
her spirit came
again
, and she arose
straightway:
and he commanded
to give
her
meat
.
Her spirit returned
, and at
once
she got
up.
And He directed
that
she
be
given
something
to eat
.
And
her parents were astonished:
but he
charged
them that
they
should
tell no
man
what was
done
.
Her parents were astounded,
but Jesus
ordered
them not
to
tell anyone
what had
happened
.
