Now the feast of unleavened bread, which
is
called the Passover, drew
near.
Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread, called the Passover, was
approaching,
The chief priests and the
scribes sought
how
they
might
put him
to death ,
for they feared the people.
and
the chief priests and scribes were
looking
for
a
way
to
put Jesus
to death ;
for they feared the people.
Satan entered into
Judas ,
who
was
surnamed
Iscariot, who was numbered
with
the twelve.
Then
Satan entered Judas Iscariot, who was one
of
the Twelve.
He
went
away,
and talked
with the chief priests and captains
about
how he might deliver
him
to them.
And Judas
went
to
discuss
with the chief priests and temple
officers
how he might betray
Jesus
to them.
They were glad,
and agreed to give him money.
They were delighted
and agreed to give him money.
He
consented, and sought
an opportunity to deliver
him
to them in the absence of the
multitude
.
Judas
consented, and began
to
look
for
an opportunity to betray
Jesus
to them in the absence of a
crowd
.
The day of unleavened bread came,
on which the Passover must
be sacrificed.
Then
came
the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb
was
to
be sacrificed.
He
sent Peter and John, saying, "
Go and prepare the
Passover
for us ,
that
we
may
eat. "
Jesus
sent Peter and John, saying, “
Go and prepare for us to
eat the
Passover
. ”
They
said
to
him,
"
Where do you want us to prepare? "
“
Where do You want us to prepare it
? ”
they
asked.
He said
to
them,
"Behold
, when you have
entered
into
the city, a man carrying a pitcher
of water will meet you. Follow him into
the house which
he enters .
He answered
, “
When you enter
the city, a man carrying a jug
of water will meet you. Follow him to
the house he enters ,
Tell
the master
of the
house, '
The Teacher says
to
you,
"
Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples? "'
and
say
to
the owner
of that
house, ‘
The Teacher asks:
Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with My disciples? ’
He will show you a large ,
furnished
upper room. Make preparations there. "
And
he will show you a large upper room ,
already
furnished
. Make preparations there. ”
They went ,
found things
as he
had told them ,
and they prepared the Passover.
So
they went and
found it
just
as Jesus
had told them .
And they prepared the Passover.
When the hour had come, he
sat
down
with
the twelve
apostles.
When the hour had come, Jesus
reclined
at
the table
with
His
apostles.
He said to them, "
I have earnestly
desired to eat this Passover with you before I
suffer,
And
He said to them, “
I have eagerly
desired to eat this Passover with you before My
suffering.
for I tell you ,
I will no
longer
by
any
means
eat of
it until it is fulfilled in the Kingdom of God. "
For I tell you that
I will not
eat it again
until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God. ”
He
received
a
cup, and
when
he had
given
thanks ,
he
said, "
Take this ,
and share
it among yourselves ,
After
taking
the
cup, He gave
thanks and
said, “
Take this and divide
it among yourselves .
for I tell you ,
I will not drink at
all
again
from
the fruit of the vine ,
until the Kingdom of God comes. "
For I tell you that
I will not drink of
the fruit of the vine from
now
on
until the kingdom of God comes. ”
He took bread, and
when
he
had
given
thanks ,
he
broke it, and gave to them, saying, "
This is my body which
is
given for you .
Do this in memory
of me. "
And
He took the
bread, gave
thanks and
broke it, and gave it
to them, saying, “
This is My body ,
given for you ;
do this in remembrance
of Me. ”
Likewise
, he took the cup after
supper
, saying, "
This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.
In
the
same
way
, after
supper
He took the cup, saying, “
This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is poured out for you.
But
behold,
the hand of him
who
betrays
me
is with me
on the table.
Look!
The hand of My
betrayer
is with Mine
on the table.
The Son of Man indeed
goes,
as it has been determined, but woe to that man through
whom
he
is
betrayed!"
Indeed,
the Son of Man will
go
as it has been determined, but woe to that man who
betrays
Him.”
They began to question among themselves ,
which of them it
was who
would
do this thing
.
Then
they began to question among themselves which of them was going
to
do this.
There
arose
also
a contention
among them,
which of them was
considered
to
be greatest.
A dispute
also
arose
among the
disciples
as
to
which of them would
be considered
the
greatest.
He
said
to
them
, "
The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who
have
authority over them are
called
'
benefactors. '
So
Jesus
declared
, “
The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those in
authority over them call
themselves
benefactors.
But not
so
with
you. But
one
who
is
the greater
among you ,
let
him
become
as
the younger
, and one who is
governing,
as
one who serves.
But you shall
not
be
like
them
. Instead,
the greatest
among you should
be
like
the youngest
, and the
one who leads
like
the
one who serves.
For who is greater, one who sits
at the table ,
or one who serves? Isn't
it he
who
sits
at
the table
? But I am in
the
midst
of
you as one who serves.
For who is greater, the
one who reclines
at the table or the
one who serves? Is
it not
the one
who
reclines
? But I am among
you as one who serves.
But
you are those
who have continued
with
me in my trials.
You are the
ones
who have stood
by
Me in My trials.
I confer
on you a kingdom, even
as my Father conferred
on me,
And
I bestow
on you a kingdom, just
as My Father has
bestowed
one
on Me,
that you may eat and drink at my table in my Kingdom .
You
will
sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. "
so
that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom ,
and
sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
The
Lord
said,
"
Simon, Simon, behold,
Satan asked to have
you,
that
he
might
sift you as
wheat ,
Simon, Simon, Satan has
asked to sift each
of
you like
wheat .
but I prayed for you, that your faith wouldn't
fail. You,
when once
you have turned again
, establish
your brothers. "
But I have
prayed for you, Simon,
that your faith will
not
fail. And
when you have turned back
, strengthen
your brothers. ”
He
said
to
him,
"
Lord, I am ready to go with you both
to prison and to death !"
“
Lord, ”
said
Peter,
“
I am ready to go with You even
to prison and to death .”
He
said
, "
I tell you, Peter, the rooster will by
no
means
crow today until you deny
that you know me three
times
. "
But
Jesus
replied
, “
I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not
crow today until you have
denied
three
times
that you know Me. ”
He
said
to
them, "
When I sent you out without purse ,
and
wallet,
and
shoes
, did you lack anything? "
They
said,
"
Nothing. "
Then
Jesus
asked
them, “
When I sent you out without purse or
bag
or
sandals
, did you lack anything? ”
“
Nothing ,”
they
answered
.
Then
he said
to
them, "But
now,
whoever
has
a purse ,
let
him
take it, and likewise a wallet.
Whoever
has
none,
let
him
sell his cloak ,
and buy a
sword
.
“Now,
however,”
He told
them, “the
one
with
a purse should
take it, and likewise a bag;
and
the
one
without
a
sword
should
sell his cloak and buy one
.
For I tell you that this which
is
written
must still
be fulfilled in me: '
He was counted
with the lawless
. '
For that
which
concerns
me has
an
end
. "
For I tell you that this Scripture
must be fulfilled in Me: ‘And
He was numbered
with the transgressors
. ’
For what
is
written
about
Me is
reaching
its
fulfillment
. ”
They said, "Lord
, behold
, here are two swords. "
He
said
to
them,
"
That is enough. "
So
they said, “Look
, Lord
, here are two swords. ”
“
That is enough ,”
He
answered
.
He
came
out,
and
went ,
as his
custom
was,
to the Mount of Olives .
His
disciples also
followed him.
Jesus
went out
as usual
to the Mount of Olives ,
and
the
disciples followed Him.
When he was
at
the place, he said
to
them, "
Pray that you don't
enter into temptation. "
When He came
to
the place, He told
them, “
Pray that you will
not
enter into temptation. ”
He was
withdrawn
from
them
about a stone's
throw, and
he knelt down and prayed,
And
He withdrew
about a stone’s
throw beyond
them
, where
He knelt down and prayed,
saying,
"
Father, if you are willing, remove
this cup from me. Nevertheless,
not my will, but yours ,
be done. "
“
Father, if You are willing, take
this cup from Me. Yet
not My will, but Yours be done. ”
An angel from heaven appeared to him ,
strengthening
him.
Then
an angel from heaven appeared to Him and
strengthened
Him.
Being
in agony
he prayed more earnestly .
His sweat became like great
drops of blood falling down
on
the ground.
And
in His
anguish,
He prayed more earnestly ,
and
His sweat became like drops of blood falling to
the ground.
When he
rose up
from his
prayer ,
he
came
to the disciples, and
found them sleeping
because
of
grief
,
When Jesus
rose from prayer and
returned
to the disciples, He
found them asleep
, exhausted
from
sorrow.
and
said
to
them,
"
Why do
you sleep
? Rise
and pray that you may
not enter into temptation. "
“
Why are
you sleeping
? ”
He
asked.
“Get
up
and pray so
that you will
not enter into temptation. ”
While he was still speaking, behold,
a multitude
, and
he
who
was
called Judas, one of the twelve ,
was
leading
them
. He came
near
to
Jesus to kiss him.
While He was still speaking, a crowd
arrived
, led
by
the
man
called Judas, one of the Twelve. He approached
Jesus to kiss Him.
But Jesus said
to
him, "
Judas, do
you betray
the Son of Man with a kiss? "
But Jesus asked
him, “
Judas, are
you betraying
the Son of Man with a kiss? ”
When
those who
were
around him
saw what was about to happen ,
they
said to
him
, "
Lord, shall
we strike with the
sword
? "
Those around Jesus
saw what was about to happen and
said, “
Lord, should
we strike with our
swords
? ”
A
certain
one of them struck the servant of the high priest, and
cut
off his right ear.
And
one of them struck the servant of the high priest, cutting
off his right ear.
But Jesus answered, "Let
me
at
least
do
this "--
and he touched his
ear ,
and healed him.
But Jesus answered, “No
more
of
this !”
And He touched the
man’s
ear and healed him.
Jesus said to the chief priests, captains
of
the
temple, and elders ,
who had come against
him, "
Have you come out as
against
a
robber,
with swords and clubs?
Then
Jesus said to the chief priests, temple officers
, and elders who had come for
Him, “
Have you come out with swords and clubs as
you
would
against
an
outlaw
?
When
I was with you in the temple daily
, you didn't
stretch
out
your
hands
against
me. But this is
your
hour ,
and the power of darkness. "
Every
day
I was with you in the temple courts
, and
you did
not
lay
a
hand
on
Me. But this hour belongs
to
you
and to
the power of darkness. ”
They seized him
, and
led him away, and brought
him into the high
priest's
house. But
Peter followed from
a distance.
Then
they seized Jesus
, led Him away, and took
Him into the house of
the
high
priest
. And
Peter followed at
a distance.
When they
had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard ,
and had
sat down together, Peter sat among them.
When those
present
had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat down
among them.
A certain
servant girl saw him as
he
sat
in the light,
and looking
intently at him ,
said,
"
This man also was with him. "
A servant girl saw him seated
in the firelight
and looked
intently at him .
“
This man also was with Him ,”
she
said
.
He
denied Jesus,
saying,
"
Woman, I don't
know him. "
But
Peter
denied it.
“
Woman, I do
not
know Him ,”
he
said
.
After
a little
while
someone else saw him ,
and said, "
You also are one of them !"
But Peter answered
, "
Man, I am not !"
A short
time
later,
someone else saw him and said, “
You also are one of them .”
But Peter said
, “
Man, I am not .”
After
about one
hour passed
, another confidently
affirmed,
saying
, "Truly
this man also
was with him, for he is a Galilean !"
About an
hour later
, another man
insisted
, “Certainly
this man was with Him, for he too
is a Galilean .”
But
Peter
said,
"
Man, I don't
know what you are talking about !"
Immediately
, while he was still speaking, a
rooster crowed.
“
Man, I do
not
know what you are talking about, ”
Peter
replied.
While he was still speaking, the
rooster crowed.
The Lord turned ,
and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the Lord's
word ,
how
he
said
to him ,
"
Before the rooster crows you will deny me three times. "
And
the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word that
the
Lord
had
spoken
to him :
“
Before the rooster crows today,
you will deny Me three times. ”
He went out,
and wept bitterly.
And
he went outside
and wept bitterly.
The men who held
Jesus mocked
him and beat him.
The men who were
holding
Jesus began
to
mock
Him and beat Him.
Having
blindfolded
him,
they struck
him on
the
face
and asked
him
, "
Prophesy! Who is
the
one
who
struck
you? "
They blindfolded
Him and kept
demanding
, “
Prophesy! Who hit
You? ”
They spoke
many other things against him ,
insulting
him
.
And
they said
many other blasphemous
things against Him.
As
soon
as
it
was
day,
the assembly
of the elders of the people was
gathered
together
, both chief priests and scribes, and
they led him
away
into their council,
saying
,
At
daybreak
the council
of the elders of the people, both the
chief priests and scribes, met
together.
They led Jesus
into their Sanhedrin
and
said
,
"
If you are the Christ, tell us. "
But
he
said
to
them
, "
If I tell you, you won't
believe ,
“
If You are the Christ, tell us. ”
Jesus
answered
, “
If I tell you, you will
not
believe .
and if I ask, you will in
no
way
answer me
or
let
me
go
.
And if I ask you
a
question
, you will not
answer.
From now on ,
the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God. "
But
from now on the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God. ”
They all said
, "
Are you then the Son of God? "
He said
to
them
, "
You say it,
because
I AM. "
So
they all asked
, “
Are You then the Son of God? ”
He replied
, “
You say that
I am. ”
They
said,
"
Why do we need any more witness
? For
we ourselves
have heard from his own mouth!"
“
Why do we need any more testimony
? ”
they
declared.
“
We have heard it
for
ourselves
from His own lips.”
