King James Version
From
inside
the
fish,
Jonah prayed to
the LORD his God,
Then
Jonah prayed unto
the LORD his God out
of
the
fish's
belly
,
saying:
“In
my
distress
I called
to
the LORD, and He answered
me .
From
the belly of Sheol
I called
for
help
, and You
heard
my voice.
And
said,
I cried
by
reason
of
mine
affliction
unto
the LORD, and he heard
me ;
out
of
the belly of hell
cried
I, and thou
heardest
my voice.
For You
cast me into the deep, into
the heart
of the seas ,
and the current
swirled
about
me ;
all Your
breakers
and waves swept
over me.
For thou
hadst
cast me into the deep, in
the midst
of the seas ;
and the floods
compassed
me about:
all thy
billows
and thy
waves passed
over me.
At
this,
I said, ‘
I have
been
banished
from
Your
sight; yet I will look once
more
toward Your
holy temple. ’
Then
I said, I am
cast
out
of
thy
sight; yet I will look again
toward thy
holy temple.
The waters engulfed
me to take
my
life;
the watery
depths
closed around
me ;
the seaweed
wrapped around
my head.
The waters compassed
me about,
even
to the soul:
the
depth
closed me round
about,
the weeds
were
wrapped about
my head.
To the roots
of the mountains I
descended
; the earth beneath
me
barred
me in
forever!
But
You
raised
my life from the
pit
, O LORD my God !
I
went
down
to the bottoms
of the mountains; the earth with
her
bars
was
about
me for
ever:
yet
hast
thou
brought
up
my life from corruption
, O LORD my God .
As
my life
was
fading
away,
I remembered the LORD .
My prayer went
up
to
You
, to
Your
holy temple.
When
my soul
fainted
within
me
I remembered the LORD :
and
my prayer came
in
unto
thee
, into
thine
holy temple.
Those
who
cling
to
worthless
idols
forsake His
loving
devotion
.
They
that
observe
lying
vanities
forsake their
own
mercy
.
But I ,
with the voice of thanksgiving ,
will
sacrifice
to
You.
I will fulfill
what
I have vowed. Salvation is from
the LORD !”
But I will
sacrifice
unto
thee
with the voice of thanksgiving ;
I will pay
that
that
I have vowed. Salvation is of
the LORD .
And the LORD commanded
the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto
dry land.
And the LORD spake
unto
the fish, and it vomited out
Jonah upon
the
dry land.
