From
inside
the
fish,
Jonah prayed to
the
LORD
his God ,
Then
Jonah prayed unto
Jehovah
his God out
of
the
fish's
belly.
saying:
“In
my
distress
I called to
the
LORD
, and He answered me .
From
the belly of Sheol I called
for
help
, and You
heard
my voice.
And
he
said,
I called by
reason
of
mine
affliction
unto
Jehovah
, And he answered me ;
Out
of
the belly of Sheol cried
I, `
And '
thou
heardest
my voice.
For You
cast me into the deep
, into
the heart of the seas, and the current
swirled
about me; all Your
breakers
and
waves swept
over me.
For thou
didst
cast me into the depth
, in
the heart of the seas, And the flood
was
round
about me; All thy
waves and
thy
billows
passed
over me.
At
this,
I said, ‘
I have
been
banished
from Your
sight
; yet I will look once
more
toward Your
holy temple. ’
And
I said, I am
cast
out
from before
thine
eyes
; Yet I will look again
toward thy
holy temple.
The waters engulfed
me to take
my
life
; the watery
depths
closed
around
me; the seaweed
wrapped around
my head.
The waters compassed
me about,
even
to the
soul
; The deep
was
round
about
me; The weeds
were
wrapped about
my head.
To the roots
of the mountains I
descended
; the earth beneath
me
barred
me in
forever!
But
You
raised
my life from the pit, O LORD
my God !
I
went
down
to the bottoms
of the mountains; The earth with
its
bars
`closed'
upon
me for
ever:
Yet
hast
thou
brought
up
my life from the pit, O Jehovah
my God .
As
my life
was
fading
away
, I remembered the
LORD.
My prayer went
up
to
You
, to
Your
holy temple.
When
my soul
fainted
within
me
, I remembered Jehovah;
And
my prayer came
in
unto
thee
, into
thy
holy temple.
Those
who
cling
to
worthless
idols
forsake His
loving
devotion
.
They
that
regard
lying
vanities
Forsake their
own
mercy
.
But I ,
with the voice of thanksgiving ,
will
sacrifice
to
You.
I will fulfill
what
I have vowed. Salvation is from
the
LORD!”
But I will
sacrifice
unto
thee
with the voice of thanksgiving ;
I will pay
that
which
I have vowed. Salvation is of
Jehovah.
And the
LORD
commanded
the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto
dry land.
And Jehovah
spake
unto
the fish, and it vomited out
Jonah upon
the
dry land.
