After this
, Jesus traveled
throughout
Galilee .
He did
not
want
to
travel
in Judea, because the Jews there
were
trying
to kill Him.
After these
things
, Jesus was
walking
in
Galilee ,
for
he wouldn't
walk
in Judea, because the Jews sought
to kill him.
However
, the Jewish
Feast of Tabernacles
was near
.
Now
the
feast
of
the
Jews
, the Feast of Booths,
was at
hand
.
So
Jesus’
brothers said to Him, “Leave
here and go to
Judea, so
that Your disciples there
may see the
works You are
doing
.
His
brothers therefore
said to him, "Depart
from
here ,
and go into
Judea, that your disciples also
may see your
works which
you do
.
For no one who
wants
to be known publicly
acts
in
secret
. Since
You are
doing
these things, show
Yourself to the world. ”
For no one does
anything
in
secret,
and
himself
seeks
to be known openly
. If
you do
these things, reveal
yourself to the world. "
For even His own
brothers did
not
believe in Him.
For even his brothers didn't
believe in him.
Therefore
Jesus told
them, “Although
your
time
is
always
at
hand,
My time has not yet come.
Jesus therefore
said
to
them, "
My time has not yet come ,
but
your
time
is
always
ready
.
The world cannot
hate you, but it hates Me, because I testify that its works are evil.
The world can't
hate you, but it hates me, because I testify about
it,
that its works are evil.
Go up to the feast on
your
own
. I am not going up to this feast, because My time has
not yet come
. ”
You
go up to the feast. I am not yet
going up to this feast, because my time is
not yet fulfilled
. "
Having said this
, Jesus
remained
in Galilee.
Having said these
things
to
them
, he
stayed
in Galilee.
But after
His brothers had gone up to the feast, He also went —
not publicly, but in secret.
But when
his brothers had gone up to the feast, then
he also went up,
not publicly, but as
it
were
in secret.
So
the Jews were
looking
for
Him at the feast and asking
, “
Where is He? ”
The Jews therefore
sought
him at the feast ,
and said
, "
Where is he? "
Many
in
the crowds
were
whispering
about
Him. Some said, “
He is a good man. ”
But
others replied
, “No
, He deceives
the people
. ”
There
was
much
murmuring
among
the multitudes
concerning
him. Some said, "
He is a good man. "
Others said
, "Not
so
, but
he leads
the multitude
astray
. "
Yet no one would
speak
publicly
about
Him for fear of the Jews.
Yet no one spoke
openly
of
him for fear of the Jews.
About
halfway
through
the feast, Jesus went up to
the temple courts
and began
to
teach
.
But
when
it
was
now
the midst
of
the
feast, Jesus went up into
the temple and taught
.
The Jews were
amazed
and
asked
, “
How did
this man attain
such
learning
without
having studied
? ”
The Jews therefore
marveled
, saying,
"
How does
this man know
letters,
having never
been
educated
? "
“
My teaching is not My
own
, ”
Jesus
replied.
“It
comes
from
Him
who sent Me.
Jesus
therefore
answered
them,
"
My teaching is not mine
, but
his
who sent me.
If anyone desires to do His will, he will know whether
My
teaching is from God or whether
I speak
on
My
own
.
If anyone desires to do his will, he will know about
the
teaching ,
whether
it
is from God ,
or if
I am
speaking
from
myself
.
He who speaks on
his
own
authority
seeks his own glory, but He who seeks the glory of the
One
who sent Him is a
man
of
truth;
in Him there
is
no
falsehood
.
He who speaks from
himself
seeks his own glory, but he who seeks the glory of him
who sent him ,
the
same
is true,
and
no
unrighteousness
is
in him.
Has
not
Moses given
you the law ?
Yet not
one
of you keeps it.
Why are
you trying
to kill Me? ”
Didn't
Moses give
you the law ,
and
yet none
of you keeps the
law?
Why do
you seek
to kill me? "
“
You have a demon ,”
the
crowd
replied.
“
Who is
trying
to kill You? ”
The
multitude
answered,
"
You have a demon !
Who seeks
to kill you? "
Jesus answered them, “
I did one miracle
, and you are
all amazed
.
Jesus answered them, "
I did one work
, and you all marvel
because
of
it
.
But
because
Moses gave
you circumcision ,
you
circumcise
a
boy
on
the
Sabbath
(not that it is from
Moses, but from
the patriarchs.
)
Moses has
given
you circumcision (not that it is of
Moses, but of
the fathers
) ,
and
on
the
Sabbath
you
circumcise
a
boy.
If a boy can
be
circumcised
on the Sabbath so
that the law of Moses will
not be broken, why
are you angry with Me for
making
the
whole
man well
on the Sabbath?
If a boy receives
circumcision
on the Sabbath ,
that the law of Moses may
not be broken, are you angry with me ,
because
I
made
a
man every
bit
whole
on the Sabbath?
Stop
judging
by
outward
appearances
, and
start
judging
justly
. ”
Don't
judge
according
to
appearance
, but
judge
righteous
judgment
. "
Then
some of the
people
of Jerusalem began
to
say
, “Isn’t
this the
man
they are
trying
to kill?
Therefore
some of them
of Jerusalem said
, "Isn't
this he
whom
they seek
to kill?
Yet
here
He
is
, speaking
publicly
, and they are
not
saying
anything
to Him. Have
the rulers truly
recognized
that this is the Christ?
Behold
, he
speaks
openly
, and they say
nothing
to him. Can
it
be
that
the rulers indeed
know
that this is truly
the Christ?
But
we know where this man is
from .
When the Christ comes, no one will know where He is
from. ”
However
we know where this man comes
from ,
but
when the Christ comes, no one will know where he comes
from. "
Then
Jesus ,
still
teaching
in the temple courts
, cried
out
, “
You know Me, and you
know where I am from. I have not come of My
own
accord
, but He who sent Me is true .
You do
not
know Him,
Jesus therefore
cried
out
in the temple, teaching
and
saying
, "
You both
know me, and know where I am from. I have not come of myself
, but he who sent me is true ,
whom
you don't
know .
but
I know Him, because I am from Him and He sent Me. ”
I know him, because I am from him ,
and he sent me. "
So
they tried
to seize
Him ,
but no one laid a hand on Him, because His hour had not yet come.
They sought
therefore
to take
him ;
but no one laid a hand on him, because his hour had not yet come.
Many
in
the crowd,
however
, believed in Him and
said, “
When the Christ comes, will
He perform
more signs than this man? ”
But
of
the multitude
, many
believed in him .
They
said, "
When the Christ comes, he won't
do
more signs than those
which
this man has
done,
will
he
? "
When
the Pharisees heard the crowd
whispering
these things about
Jesus
, they
and the chief priests sent officers to arrest Him.
The Pharisees heard the multitude
murmuring
these things concerning
him
, and the chief priests and
the
Pharisees
sent officers to arrest him.
So
Jesus said, “
I am
with you only
a little while longer, and
then I am
going
to the
One
who sent Me.
Then
Jesus said, "
I will
be
with you a little while longer, then I go
to him
who sent me.
You will look
for
Me, but
you
will
not
find Me; and where I am, you cannot
come. ”
You will seek
me, and
won't
find me; and where I am, you can't
come. "
At
this,
the Jews said to
one
another
, “
Where does
He
intend
to
go that we will
not
find Him? Will He go where
the Jews
are
dispersed
among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks?
The Jews therefore
said among
themselves
, "
Where will
this
man
go that we won't
find him? Will he go to
the Dispersion
among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks?
What does
He mean
by
saying
, ‘
You will look
for
Me, but
you
will
not
find Me ,’
and ,
‘
Where I am, you cannot
come ’
? ”
What is
this
word
that
he said
, '
You will seek
me, and
won't
find me ;
and where I am, you can't
come? '"
On the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood up
and called
out in
a
loud
voice
, “
If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink .
Now
on the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried
out, "
If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink !
Whoever
believes in Me, as the Scripture has said :
‘Streams
of
living
water
will
flow
from within him. ’”
He
who
believes in me, as the Scripture has said ,
from within him will
flow
rivers
of
living
water
. "
He was
speaking
about the Spirit, whom
those who
believed
in Him were later
to receive. For the Spirit had
not yet been
given, because Jesus had
not
yet been
glorified.
But
he said
this
about the Spirit, which
those believing
in him were to receive. For the Holy
Spirit was
not yet given, because Jesus wasn't
yet glorified.
On
hearing
these words, some
of
the
people
said, “
This is truly the Prophet. ”
Many
of
the
multitude
therefore,
when
they
heard
these words, said, "
This is truly the prophet. "
Others declared
, “
This is the Christ. ”
But still
others
asked
, “How
can
the Christ come from
Galilee?
Others said
, "
This is the Christ. "
But some
said
, "What,
does
the Christ come out
of
Galilee?
Doesn’t
the Scripture say
that the Christ will
come
from
the line
of David and from Bethlehem, the village where David lived
? ”
Hasn't
the Scripture said
that the Christ comes
of
the seed
of David ,
and from Bethlehem, the village where David was
? "
So there was
division in the crowd
because of Jesus
.
So there arose
a
division in the multitude
because of him
.
Some of them wanted
to
seize
Him, but no one laid a
hand
on Him.
Some of them would
have
arrested
him, but no one laid hands
on him.
Then
the officers returned
to the chief priests and Pharisees, who
asked
them, “
Why didn’t
you bring Him in
? ”
The officers therefore
came
to the chief priests and Pharisees, and
they
said
to
them, "
Why didn't
you bring him? "
“Never
has
anyone
spoken
like this man! ”
the
officers
answered.
The
officers
answered,
"No
man
ever
spoke
like this man! "
“Have
you also been
deceived
? ”
replied
the
Pharisees.
The
Pharisees
therefore
answered
them,
"
You aren't
also led
astray,
are
you
?
“
Have any of the rulers or
Pharisees
believed in Him?
Have any of the rulers believed in him ,
or
of
the
Pharisees
?
But this crowd
that does
not
know the law ,
they
are
under
a
curse
. ”
But this multitude
that doesn't
know the law is
accursed
. "
Nicodemus ,
who had
gone
to Jesus
earlier
and
who
himself
was
one of them ,
asked
,
Nicodemus (he
who came
to him
by
night,
being
one of them )
said
to
them
,
“
Does our law convict
a man without
first hearing
from him to
determine
what he has
done
? ”
"
Does our law judge
a man ,
unless
it
first hears
from him personally
and
knows
what he does
? "
“Aren’t
you also from Galilee? ”
they
replied.
“Look
into
it
, and you
will
see that no prophet comes
out of Galilee. ”
They
answered
him,
"Are
you also from Galilee? Search
, and see that no prophet has
arisen
out of Galilee. "
Then
each
went to his own home.
Everyone
went to his own house,
