After this,
Jesus crossed
to the other side of the Sea of Galilee (that
is
, the Sea of Tiberias )
.
After these
things
Jesus went
away
to the other side of the sea of Galilee, which
is
`
the sea '
of Tiberias.
A large
crowd
followed Him because they saw
the signs He was
performing
on the
sick.
And
a great
multitude
followed him ,
because they beheld
the signs which
he did
on them
that
were
sick.
Then
Jesus went up on
the mountain and sat down
with His disciples.
And
Jesus went up into
the mountain ,
and there
he
sat with his disciples.
Now the Jewish
Feast of the Passover
was near
.
Now the passover,
the
feast of the Jews,
was at
hand
.
When
Jesus looked
up and saw
a large
crowd
coming
toward
Him, He
said
to
Philip, “Where
can
we buy bread for
these people
to
eat? ”
Jesus therefore
lifting
up his
eyes,
and seeing
that
a great
multitude
cometh
unto
him, saith
unto
Philip, Whence
are
we to
buy bread ,
that
these may
eat?
But
He
was
asking
this to test
him ,
for He knew what He was
about
to
do.
And
this he
said
to prove
him :
for he himself
knew what he would
do.
Philip answered, “
Two hundred denarii
would
not
buy
enough
bread for each
of
them to
have
a small
piece
. ”
Philip answered him
, Two hundred shillings'
worth
of
bread is
not
sufficient
for them ,
that
every
one
may
take
a little
.
One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s
brother, said
to
Him,
One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's
brother, saith
unto
him,
“Here
is a boy
with
five barley loaves and two small
fish.
But what difference
will
these make
among so many? ”
There
is a lad
here,
who
hath
five barley loaves ,
and two fishes:
but what are
these among so many?
“Have
the people sit down ,”
Jesus
said
. Now there was plenty
of
grass in that
place ,
so the men sat down, about five thousand of
them
.
Jesus
said,
Make
the people sit down. Now there was much
grass in the
place .
So the men sat down, in
number
about five thousand.
Then
Jesus took the loaves and the
fish,
gave
thanks, and
distributed to those
who
were seated
as much as they wanted
.
Jesus therefore
took the loaves ;
and having
given
thanks, he
distributed to them
that
were set
down;
likewise
also
of
the
fishes
as much as they would
.
And when everyone
was
full
, He said
to
His disciples, “
Gather the pieces that
are
left
over, so
that nothing will
be wasted
. ”
And when they
were
filled
, he saith
unto
his disciples, Gather up
the broken
pieces which
remain
over, that nothing be lost
.
So they collected
them and filled twelve baskets with the
pieces of
the five barley loaves left
over by
those
who
had eaten.
So they gathered
them up,
and filled twelve baskets with broken
pieces from
the five barley loaves ,
which
remained
over unto
them
that
had eaten.
When the people saw the sign that
Jesus
had
performed
, they began
to
say
, “Truly
this is the Prophet who
is
to
come
into the world. ”
When therefore
the people saw the sign which
he
did
, they said
, This is of
a
truth
the prophet that
cometh
into the world.
Then
Jesus ,
realizing
that they were about to come and make
Him king
by force, withdrew again to
a
mountain by
Himself.
Jesus therefore
perceiving
that they were about to come and take
him by force, to
make
him
king,
withdrew again into
the
mountain himself alone
.
When evening came, His disciples went down to
the sea ,
And
when evening came, his disciples went down unto
the sea ;
got
into a boat, and started
across
the sea to
Capernaum. It was already
dark, and Jesus had not yet gone
out
to them.
and
they
entered
into a boat, and were
going
over
the sea unto
Capernaum. And
it was now
dark, and Jesus had not yet come
to them.
A
strong
wind
was
blowing,
and the sea grew
agitated
.
And the sea was
rising
by
reason
of
a
great
wind
that
blew
.
When they had rowed about three
or four
miles
, they saw
Jesus approaching
the
boat,
walking on the sea —
and they were terrified
.
When therefore
they had rowed about five
and
twenty
or thirty
furlongs
, they behold
Jesus walking on the sea ,
and drawing
nigh
unto
the
boat:
and
they were afraid
.
But Jesus
spoke
up:
“
It is I; do
not
be afraid. ”
But he
saith
unto
them,
It is I; be not
afraid.
Then
they were willing to take
Him into the boat ,
and at
once
the boat reached
the shore
where
they were heading
.
They were willing therefore
to receive
him into the boat :
and straightway
the boat was
at
the land
whither
they were going
.
The next
day,
the crowd
that had
remained
on the other side of the sea realized
that only
one
boat had
been
there, and that Jesus had
not boarded
it
with His disciples, but they
had
gone
away alone .
On
the morrow
the multitude
that stood
on the other side of the sea saw
that there
was
no
other
boat there, save
one,
and that Jesus entered
not with his disciples into
the
boat
, but `that'
his
disciples
went
away alone
However,
some
boats from Tiberias landed
near
the place where the
people
had
eaten
the bread after the Lord had given thanks .
(howbeit
there
came
boats from Tiberias nigh
unto
the place where they
ate
the bread after the Lord had given thanks ):
So
when the crowd
saw that neither
Jesus nor
His disciples were
there
, they got into the boats and went
to Capernaum to
look
for
Him
.
when the multitude
therefore
saw that Jesus was
not
there,
neither
his disciples, they themselves
got into the boats ,
and came
to Capernaum ,
seeking
Jesus
.
When they found Him on the other side of the sea, they asked
Him, “
Rabbi, when did
You
get
here
? ”
And
when they found him on the other side of the sea, they said
unto
him, Rabbi, when camest
thou
hither
?
Jesus replied
, “Truly
, truly
, I tell
you, it
is
not because you
saw these
signs that
you
are
looking
for
Me
, but because you
ate the loaves and had
your
fill
.
Jesus answered
them
and
said
, Verily
, verily
, I say
unto
you, Ye
seek
me,
not because ye
saw signs, but because ye
ate of
the loaves ,
and were
filled
.
Do
not
work for food that
perishes
, but for food that
endures
to
eternal life, which the Son of Man will
give you .
For on
Him God
the Father has
placed
His
seal
of
approval
. ”
Work not
for the
food which
perisheth
, but for the
food which
abideth
unto
eternal life, which the Son of man shall
give unto
you :
for him the Father ,
even
God,
hath
sealed
.
Then
they inquired
, “
What must we do to
perform
the works of God? ”
They said
therefore
unto
him
, What must we do ,
that
we
may
work
the works of God?
Jesus replied
, “
The work of God is
this:
to
believe in
the
One
He has
sent. ”
Jesus answered
and
said
unto
them
, This
is
the work of God ,
that
ye
believe on
him
whom
he hath
sent.
So
they asked
Him, “
What sign
then will
You
perform
, so
that we may see it
and believe You
? What will
You
do
?
They said
therefore
unto
him, What then doest
thou
for
a
sign
, that we may see ,
and believe thee
? what workest
thou
?
Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness ,
as it is written :
‘
He gave them bread from
heaven to eat. ’”
Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness ;

Jesus said to
them, “Truly
, truly
, I tell
you, it was not Moses who
gave you the bread from
heaven ,
but it
is
My Father who
gives
you the true bread from
heaven.
Jesus therefore
said unto
them, Verily
, verily
, I say
unto
you, It was not Moses that
gave you the bread out
of
heaven ;
but my Father giveth
you the true bread out
of
heaven.
For the bread of God is He
who
comes
down from
heaven and gives
life to
the world. ”
For the bread of God is that
which
cometh
down out
of
heaven ,
and giveth
life unto
the world.
“Sir,”
they said, “
give us this bread at
all
times
. ”
They said therefore
unto
him
, Lord,
evermore
give us this bread.
Jesus answered,
“
I am the bread of life .
Whoever
comes
to Me will
never
hunger, and whoever
believes
in
Me will
never thirst.
Jesus said
unto
them.
I am the bread of life :
he
that
cometh
to me shall
not
hunger, and he
that
believeth
on
me shall
never thirst.
But as
I stated,
you have seen Me and still
you
do
not
believe.
But I said
unto
you ,
that
ye
have seen me ,
and yet
believe not
.
Everyone
the Father gives
Me will
come to
Me ,
and the
one
who
comes
to Me I will never
drive
away
.
All
that
which
the Father giveth
me shall
come unto
me ;
and him
that
cometh
to me I will in
no
wise
cast
out
.
For I have
come down from heaven, not to do My
own will, but to
do
the will of Him who
sent Me.
For I am
come down from heaven, not to do mine
own will, but the will of him that
sent me.
And this is the will of Him who
sent Me, that I
shall
lose
none
of those
He has
given Me, but raise them
up at the last day.
And this is the will of him that
sent me, that of all
that
which
he hath
given me I
should
lose
nothing
, but should
raise it
up at the last day.
For it
is My
Father’s
will that everyone
who
looks
to
the Son and believes
in
Him shall
have eternal life ,
and I will raise him up at the last day. ”
For this
is the
will of
my
Father,
that every
one
that
beholdeth
the Son ,
and believeth
on
him ,
should
have eternal life ;
and I will raise him up at the last day.
At
this,
the Jews began
to
grumble
about
Jesus
because He had
said, “
I am the bread that
came down from
heaven. ”
The Jews therefore
murmured
concerning
him,
because he said, I am the bread which
came down out
of
heaven.
They were
asking
, “
Is this
not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How then
can
He say, ‘
I have
come down from
heaven? ’”
And
they said
, Is not this
Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how doth
he now
say, I am
come down out
of
heaven?
“Stop
grumbling
among yourselves ,”
Jesus
replied
.
Jesus
answered
and
said
unto
them,
Murmur
not
among yourselves.
“
No one
can come to Me unless
the Father who
sent Me draws
him ,
and I will raise him up at
the last day.
No man
can come to me ,
except
the Father that
sent me draw
him :
and I will raise him up in
the last day.
It is written in the Prophets :
‘
And they will
all be taught by
God. ’
Everyone
who
has
heard the Father and learned from
Him
comes
to
Me —
It is written in the prophets ,
And they shall
all be taught of
God. Every
one
that
hath
heard from
the Father ,
and hath
learned ,
cometh
unto
me .
not that anyone
has
seen the Father except
the
One
who
is from God ;
only
He has
seen the Father.
Not that any
man
hath
seen the Father ,
save
he
that
is from God ,
he hath
seen the Father.
Truly
, truly
, I tell
you, he who
believes
has
eternal life.
Verily
, verily
, I say
unto
you, He that
believeth
hath
eternal life.
I am the bread of life.
I am the bread of life.
Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, yet
they died.
Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and

This is the bread that
comes
down from
heaven, so
that anyone
may eat of
it
and not die.
This is the bread which
cometh
down out
of
heaven, that a
man
may eat thereof,
and not die.
I am the living bread that
came down from

live forever.
And this
bread ,
which I will give for the life of the world ,
is
My
flesh
. ”

At
this,
the Jews began
to
argue
among
themselves
, “
How can this man give us His flesh to eat? ”
The Jews therefore
strove
one
with
another
, saying,
How can this man give us his flesh to eat?
So
Jesus said to
them, “Truly
, truly
, I tell
you, unless
you
eat the flesh and
drink
the
blood
of the Son of Man, you
have no
life in you
.
Jesus therefore
said unto
them, Verily
, verily
, I say
unto
you, Except
ye
eat the flesh of the Son of man and
drink
his
blood
, ye
have not
life in yourselves
.
Whoever
eats
My flesh and drinks
My blood has
eternal life ,
and I will raise him up at the last day.
He
that
eateth
my flesh and drinketh
my blood hath
eternal life :
and I will raise him up at the last day.
For My flesh is real
food
, and My blood is real
drink.
For my flesh is meat
indeed
, and my blood is drink indeed
.
Whoever
eats
My flesh and drinks
My blood remains
in Me, and I in him.
He
that
eateth
my flesh and drinketh
my blood abideth
in me, and I in him.
Just
as the living Father sent Me and I live because of the Father ,
so also
the
one
who
feeds
on
Me will
live because of Me.
As the living Father sent me ,
and I live because of the Father ;
so he
that
eateth
me ,
he
also
shall
live because of me.
This is the bread that
came down from
heaven .
Unlike
your
fathers ,
who
ate the
manna
and died ,
the
one
who
eats
this bread will
live forever
. ”
This is the bread which
came down out
of
heaven :
not
as
the
fathers ate ,
and died ;
he
that
eateth
this bread shall
live for
ever
.
Jesus
said this
while
teaching
in the synagogue in Capernaum.
These
things
said he
in the synagogue ,
as
he
taught
in Capernaum.
On
hearing
it,
many of His disciples said, “
This is a difficult
teaching.
Who can accept
it? ”
Many therefore
of his disciples ,
when
the
heard
`this',
said, This is a hard
saying;
who can hear
it?
Aware
that His disciples were
grumbling
about
this teaching
, Jesus
asked
them, “Does
this offend
you?
But
Jesus
knowing
in
himself
that his disciples murmured
at
this, said
unto
them, Doth
this cause
you to
stumble
?
Then
what will
happen
if you
see
the Son of Man ascend
to
where He was before?
`
What '
then
if ye
should
behold
the Son of man ascending
where he was before?
The Spirit gives
life; the flesh profits
nothing .
The words I have spoken to
you are spirit and
they
are life.
It
is
the spirit that
giveth
life; the flesh profiteth
nothing :
the words that
I have spoken unto
you are spirit ,
are are
life.
However,
there are some of you who
do
not
believe. ”
(
For Jesus had
known
from the beginning which
of
them
did
not believe
and who would
betray Him. )
But
there are some of you that
believe not
. For Jesus knew
from the beginning who
they
were
that
believed
not ,
and who it
was
that
should
betray him.
Then
Jesus
said, “
This is
why
I told
you that no one
can come to
Me unless
the
Father
has
granted
it to
him. ”
And
he
said, For
this cause
have
I said
unto
you ,
that no man
can come unto
me ,
except
it be
given
unto
him of
the
Father
.
From
that
time
on
many of His disciples turned
back and no
longer
walked with Him.
Upon
this
many of his disciples went
back ,
and walked no
more
with him.
So
Jesus asked
the Twelve, “Do
you
want
to
leave
too
? ”
Jesus said
therefore
unto
the twelve, Would
ye
also
go
away
?
Simon Peter replied
, “
Lord, to whom would
we go? You
have
the words of eternal life.
Simon Peter answered
him
, Lord, to whom shall
we go? thou
hast
the words of eternal life.
We believe
and know that You
are
the Holy One of God. ”
And
we have
believed
and know that thou
art
the Holy One of God.
Jesus answered them, “Have
I
not chosen
you ,
the Twelve ?
Yet
one of you is a devil !”
Jesus answered them, Did
not I
choose
you the twelve ,
and
one of you is a devil ?
He was
speaking
about
Judas ,
the son of Simon Iscariot .
For although
Judas
was one of the Twelve ,
he
was
later
to
betray
Jesus
.
Now
he spake
of
Judas `
the son '
of Simon Iscariot ,
for he
it
was that
should
betray
him,
`being'
one of the twelve.
