Early
on the first day of the week, while it was still
dark, Mary
Magdalene
went
to
the tomb and saw
that
the stone had
been
removed
from the entrance
.
Now
on the first `
day '
of the week cometh
Mary
Magdalene
early
, while it was yet
dark, unto
the tomb ,
and seeth
the stone taken
away
from the tomb
.
So
she came
running
to Simon Peter and the other disciple ,
the
one
whom Jesus loved .
“
They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, ”
she
said,
“
and we do
not
know where they have put
Him !”
She runneth
therefore,
and
cometh
to Simon Peter ,
and to
the other disciple whom Jesus loved ,
and
saith
unto
them,
They have taken away
the Lord out of the tomb, and we know not
where they have laid
him .
Then
Peter and the other disciple set
out
for
the tomb.
Peter therefore
went
forth,
and the other disciple ,
and
they
went
toward
the tomb.
The
two
were
running
together ,
but
the other disciple outran Peter and reached
the tomb first.
And
they
ran
both
together :
and
the other disciple outran Peter ,
and came
first
to
the tomb ;
He
bent
down
and looked
in at
the linen cloths lying there,
but
he did
not go
in.
and stooping
and
looking
in ,
he
seeth
the linen cloths lying ;
yet
entered
he not in.
Simon Peter arrived
just
after
him .
He
entered the tomb and saw
the linen cloths lying there.
Simon Peter therefore
also
cometh,
following
him ,
and
entered into
the tomb ;
and he
beholdeth
the linen cloths lying ,
The cloth
that had
been
around
Jesus’
head
was rolled
up
, lying separate
from
the linen cloths.
and
the napkin,
that was upon
his
head
, not
lying with
the linen cloths ,
but
rolled
up
in
a
place
by
itself
.
Then the other disciple, who had
reached
the tomb first
, also
went
in.
And he saw and believed.
Then entered
in
therefore
the other disciple also
, who came
first
to
the tomb, and he saw ,
and believed.
For they still
did
not understand
from
the Scripture that Jesus
had
to
rise from the dead.
For as
yet
they knew
not the scripture ,
that he
must
rise from the dead.
Then
the disciples returned
to
their homes
.
So
the disciples went
away
again
unto
their own
home
.
But Mary stood
outside
the tomb weeping .
And
as she wept, she bent
down
to
look
into the tomb ,
But Mary was
standing
without
at
the tomb weeping :
so,
as she wept, she stooped
and
looked
into the tomb ;
and she saw
two angels in white sitting where
the
body
of
Jesus
had
lain
, one at the head and the
other
at the feet.
and she beholdeth
two angels in white sitting, one at the head ,
and one
at the feet ,
where
the
body
of
Jesus
had
lain
.
“
Woman, why are
you
weeping
? ”
they
asked.
“
Because they have taken my Lord away
, ”
she
said,
“
and I do
not
know where they have put
Him. ”
And
they
say
unto
her,
Woman, why weepest
thou
? She
saith
unto
them,
Because they have taken away
my Lord, and I know not
where they have laid
him.
When she had said this
, she turned around
and saw
Jesus standing there;
but
she
did
not recognize
that it was Jesus.
When she had thus
said, she turned herself
back,
and beholdeth
Jesus standing ,
and
knew
not that it was Jesus.
“
Woman, why are
you
weeping
? ”
Jesus
asked.
“
Whom are
you
seeking
? ”
Thinking
He
was
the gardener, she
said
, “
Sir, if you
have
carried
Him off
, tell me where you
have
put
Him, and I will get
Him. ”
Jesus
saith
unto
her,
Woman, why weepest
thou
? whom seekest
thou
? She,
supposing
him
to
be
the gardener, saith
unto
him
, Sir, if thou
hast
borne
him hence
, tell me where thou
hast
laid
him, and I will take
him away
.
Jesus said
to
her, “
Mary. ”
She turned
and said
to
Him in Hebrew, “
Rabboni !”
(
which means
“
Teacher ”)
.
Jesus saith
unto
her, Mary. She turneth
herself,
and saith
unto
him in Hebrew, Rabboni ;
which is
to
say,
Teacher.
“Do
not
cling
to
Me,”
Jesus said
, “
for I have
not yet ascended to
the Father .
But go and
tell
My brothers
, ‘I
am
ascending
to My Father and your Father, to
My God and your God. ’”
Jesus saith
to
her
, Touch
me
not;
for I am
not yet ascended unto
the Father :
but go unto
my brethren
, and
say
to them,
I
ascend
unto
my Father and your Father, and
my God and your God.
Mary Magdalene went
and announced
to
the disciples, “
I have seen the Lord !”
And she
told
them
what
He had said to
her.
Mary Magdalene cometh
and telleth
the disciples, I have seen the Lord ;
and `that'
he had said these
things
unto
her.
It was the first day of the week, and that
very
evening,
while
the disciples
were together
with
the doors
locked
for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among
them .
“
Peace be with
you !”
He
said
to
them
.
When
therefore
it was evening,
on
that
day,
the first `
day '
of the week, and when
the doors
were shut
where
the disciples
were,
for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in
the
midst,
and
saith
unto
them ,
Peace `
be '
unto
you.
After
He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. The disciples rejoiced
when they saw the Lord.
And
when
he had said this, he showed unto
them his hands and his side. The disciples therefore
were
glad,
when they saw the Lord.
Again
Jesus said to them, “
Peace be with
you .
As the Father has
sent Me, so also
I am
sending
you. ”
Jesus therefore
said to them again
, Peace `
be '
unto
you :
as the Father hath
sent me, even
so send
I you.
When He had said this, He breathed on them and said
, “
Receive the Holy Spirit .
And
when he had said this, he breathed on them ,
and saith
unto
them
, Receive ye
the Holy Spirit :
If
you
forgive
anyone
his
sins, they are forgiven; if
you
withhold
forgiveness
from
anyone
, it
is
withheld
. ”
whose
soever
sins ye
forgive
, they are forgiven unto
them
; whose
soever
`sins'
ye
retain
, they
are
retained
.
Now
Thomas called
Didymus
, one of the Twelve, was not with the
disciples
when Jesus came.
But
Thomas, one of the twelve, called
Didymus,
was not with them
when Jesus came.
So
the other disciples told
him, “
We have seen the Lord !”
But he replied
, “Unless
I see the
nail
marks
in His hands ,
and
put
my
finger
where
the nails have
been
, and put my hand into His side, I will never
believe. ”
The other disciples therefore
said
unto
him, We have seen the Lord .
But he said
unto
them
, Except
I shall
see in his hands the print
of
the
nails, and put my hand into his side, I will not
believe.
Eight days later,
His disciples were once
again
inside
with
the
doors
locked
, and Thomas was
with them. Jesus came
and stood among
them
and said, “
Peace be with
you. ”
And
after
eight days again
his disciples were within
, and Thomas with them. Jesus cometh,
the
doors
being
shut,
and stood in
the
midst,
and said, Peace `
be '
unto
you.
Then Jesus
said
to Thomas, “Put
your
finger here
and look
at
My hands .
Reach out
your
hand and put it into My side .
Stop
doubting
and believe
. ”
Then saith
he
to Thomas, Reach
hither
thy
finger ,
and see
my hands ;
and
reach `hither'
thy
hand ,
and put it into my side :
and be
not
faithless,
but
believing
.
Thomas replied
, “
My Lord and my God !”
Thomas answered
and
said
unto
him
, My Lord and my God .
Jesus said
to
him, “
Because you
have
seen Me, you
have
believed ;
blessed are those
who
have not seen and yet have believed. ”
Jesus saith
unto
him, Because thou
hast
seen me, thou
hast
believed :
blessed `
are '
they
that
have not seen ,
and `
yet '
have believed.
Jesus
performed
many other signs in the presence of His
disciples, which are not written in this book .
Many other signs therefore
did
Jesus
in the presence of the
disciples, which are not written in this book :
But these are written so
that you
may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God ,
and that by
believing you
may have life in His name.
but these are written ,
that ye
may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God ;
and that believing ye
may have life in his name.
