“I
have
told
you
these things so
that
you will
not fall
away
.
These things have
I
spoken
unto
you ,
that
ye
should
not be
offended
.
They will
put you out of the synagogues .
In
fact
, a
time is
coming
when
anyone
who
kills
you will think he is
offering
a
service
to
God.
They shall
put you out of the synagogues :
yea
, the
time cometh,
that
whosoever
killeth
you will think that
he doeth
God service
.
They
will
do
these things because they have not known the Father or
Me.
And
these things will
they
do
unto
you,
because they have not known the Father ,
nor
me.
But I
have told you these
things
so
that when their
hour
comes
, you
will
remember that I told you about
them. I did
not tell
you these
things
from
the beginning, because I was with you.
But these
things
have I
told you ,
that when the
time
shall
come
, ye
may
remember that I told you of
them. And
these
things
I said
not unto
you at
the beginning, because I was with you.
Now ,
however,
I am
going
to Him who
sent Me; yet
none of you asks
Me, ‘Where
are
You
going
? ’
But
now I go
my
way
to him that
sent me; and
none of you asketh
me, Whither
goest
thou
?
Instead,
your
hearts
are
filled
with
sorrow
because I have told
you
these things.
But
because I have said
these things unto
you,
sorrow
hath
filled
your
heart
.
But
I tell you the truth ,
it is for your
benefit
that I am
going
away .
Unless
I go away, the Advocate
will not come to
you; but if I go
, I will send Him to
you.
Nevertheless
I tell you the truth ;
It is expedient
for you
that I go
away :
for
if
I go not
away, the Comforter
will not come unto
you; but if I depart
, I will send him unto
you.
And when He comes
, He will convict
the world in
regard
to
sin and righteousness and judgment:
And when he is
come
, he will reprove
the world of
sin ,
and of
righteousness ,
and of
judgment:
in
regard
to
sin, because they do
not
believe in
Me;
Of
sin, because they believe not
on
me;
in
regard
to
righteousness, because I am
going
to the
Father and you
will
no
longer
see Me;
Of
righteousness, because I go
to my
Father ,
and ye
see me no
more
;
and
in
regard
to
judgment, because the prince of this world has
been
condemned
.
Of
judgment, because the prince of this world is
judged
.
I still
have much
to tell
you, but you
cannot yet
bear to
hear
it
.
I have yet
many
things
to say
unto
you, but ye
cannot bear them
now
.
However,
when the Spirit of truth comes
, He will guide you into all truth .
For He will
not speak on
His
own,
but He
will
speak
what
He hears
, and He will declare
to
you what
is
to come.
Howbeit
when he,
the Spirit of truth, is
come,
he will guide you into all truth :
for he shall
not speak of
himself;
but whatsoever
he shall
hear
, that
shall
he
speak:
and he will shew
you things
to come.
He will
glorify Me by
taking
from
what
is
Mine and disclosing
it to
you.
He shall
glorify me :
for
he
shall
receive
of
mine ,
and shall
shew
it unto
you.
Everything
that belongs
to
the Father is
Mine .
That
is
why
I
said that the
Spirit
will
take from
what
is
Mine and disclose
it to
you.
All
things
that the Father hath
are
mine :
therefore
said I,
that he
shall
take of
mine ,
and shall
shew
it unto
you.
In
a little while you
will
see Me no
more,
and then
after
a little while you
will
see Me. ”
A little while ,
and
ye
shall
not
see me :
and again,
a little while ,
and
ye
shall
see me ,
because
I
go
to
the
Father
.
Then some of His disciples asked
one
another
, “Why
is He telling
us, ‘In
a little while you
will
not see Me ,
and then
after
a little while you
will
see Me ’
and ‘
Because I am
going
to the Father ’
? ”
Then said
some of his disciples among
themselves
, What
is this
that
he saith
unto
us, A little while ,
and
ye
shall
not see me :
and again,
a little while ,
and
ye
shall
see me :
and ,
Because I go
to the Father?
They kept
asking
, “Why
is He saying
, ‘
a little while ’
? We do
not
understand
what He is
saying
. ”
They said
therefore
, What
is this
that
he saith
, A little while? we cannot
tell
what he saith
.
Aware
that they wanted
to question
Him, Jesus
said to
them, “Are
you
asking
one
another
why
I said, ‘In
a little while you
will
not see Me ,
and then
after
a little while you
will
see Me ’
?
Now
Jesus
knew
that they were
desirous
to ask
him, and
said unto
them, Do
ye
enquire
among
yourselves
of
that
I said, A little while ,
and
ye
shall
not see me :
and again,
a little while ,
and
ye
shall
see me?
Truly
, truly
, I tell
you, you
will
weep and wail
while
the world rejoices.
You
will
grieve
, but your grief
will
turn
to
joy.
Verily
, verily
, I say
unto
you, That
ye
shall
weep and lament,
but
the world shall
rejoice:
and
ye
shall
be
sorrowful
, but your sorrow
shall
be
turned
into
joy.
A woman has
pain
in childbirth
because her time
has
come ;
but when
she brings
forth
her
child, she forgets
her
anguish because
of
her
joy that a child
has
been
born into the world.
A woman when
she
is
in travail
hath
sorrow,
because her hour
is
come :
but as
soon
as
she is
delivered
of
the
child, she remembereth
no
more
the
anguish ,
for
joy that a man
is
born into the world.
So
also
you
have sorrow now,
but I will see you again and your hearts
will
rejoice, and no
one
will
take
away
your joy.
And
ye
now
therefore
have sorrow :
but I will see you again ,
and your heart
shall
rejoice, and your joy no
man
taketh
from
you
.
In that day you
will
no
longer
ask Me anything
. Truly
, truly
, I tell
you, whatever
you
ask the Father in My name, He will give you.
And
in that day ye
shall
ask me nothing
. Verily
, verily
, I say
unto
you, Whatsoever
ye
shall
ask the Father in my name, he will give it
you.
Until
now
you
have not
asked for
anything
in My name .
Ask and you
will
receive, so
that your joy may be complete
.
Hitherto
have ye
asked nothing
in my name :
ask ,
and ye
shall
receive, that your joy may be full
.
I
have
spoken
these things to
you in figures
of
speech.
An
hour
is
coming
when I will
no longer
speak to
you this
way
, but will
tell
you plainly about
the Father.
These things have
I
spoken
unto
you in proverbs:
but
the
time
cometh,
when I shall
no more
speak unto
you in
proverbs
, but I
shall
shew
you plainly of
the Father.
In
that day you
will
ask in My name .
I am
not saying
that I will ask
the Father on
your
behalf.
At
that day ye
shall
ask in my name :
and
I say
not unto
you,
that I will pray
the Father for
you:
For the Father Himself loves
you, because you
have loved Me and have believed that I came from God.
For the Father himself loveth
you, because ye
have loved me ,
and have believed that I came out
from God.
I came from the Father and entered
the world .
In
turn
, I will
leave the world and go to the Father. ”
I came forth
from the Father ,
and am
come
into
the world :
again
, I leave the world ,
and go to the Father.
His disciples said, “See
, now You
are
speaking
plainly and without
figures
of
speech
.
His disciples said unto
him
, Lo
, now speakest
thou
plainly ,
and speakest
no
proverb
.
Now we understand
that You
know
all things and that You
have
no
need
for
anyone
to
question
You.
Because
of
this ,
we believe that You
came
from God. ”
Now are
we sure
that thou
knowest
all things ,
and needest
not
that any
man
should
ask
thee:
by
this we believe that thou
camest
forth
from God.
“
Do you
finally
believe? ”
Jesus
replied.
Jesus
answered
them,
Do ye
now
believe?
“Look
, an
hour is coming
and
has
already
come when
you
will
be scattered, each
to his own home
, and you
will
leave Me all
alone .
Yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me.
Behold
, the
hour cometh,
yea,
is now
come ,
that
ye
shall
be scattered, every
man
to his own, and shall
leave me alone :
and
yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
I have told
you these
things
so
that in Me you
may
have peace. In the world you
will
have tribulation .
But take
courage
; I have overcome the world !”
These
things
I have spoken
unto
you ,
that in me ye
might
have peace. In the world ye
shall
have tribulation :
but be
of
good
cheer
; I have overcome the world .
