These
things
have
I spoken
unto
you ,
that ye
should
not be
caused
to
stumble
.
“
I have
told
you these
things
so
that you
will
not fall
away
.
They shall
put you out of the synagogues :
yea,
the
hour
cometh
, that
whosoever
killeth
you shall
think that
he offereth
service unto
God.
They will
put you out of the synagogues .
In
fact
, a
time
is
coming
when
anyone
who
kills
you will
think he is
offering
a
service to
God.
And
these
things
will
they do ,
because they have not known the Father ,
nor
me.
They will
do these
things
because they have not known the Father or
Me.
But these
things
have
I spoken
unto
you ,
that when their hour is
come
, ye
may
remember them,
how
that I told you. And
these
things
I said
not unto
you from the beginning, because I was with you.
But I have
told
you these
things
so
that when their hour comes
, you
will
remember that I told you about
them
. I did
not tell
you these
things
from the beginning, because I was with you.
But
now I go
unto
him that
sent me; and
none of you asketh
me, Whither
goest
thou
?
Now ,
however,
I am
going
to
Him who
sent Me; yet
none of you asks
Me, ‘Where
are
You
going
? ’
But
because I have spoken
these things unto
you,
sorrow
hath
filled
your
heart
.
Instead,
your
hearts
are
filled
with
sorrow
because I have told
you
these things.
Nevertheless
I tell you the truth :
It is expedient
for you
that I go
away ;
for
if
I go not
away, the Comforter
will not come unto
you; but if I go, I will send him unto
you.
But
I tell you the truth ,
it is for your
benefit
that I am
going
away .
Unless
I go away, the Advocate
will not come to
you; but if I go, I will send Him to
you.
And he,
when he is
come
, will convict the world in respect
of
sin ,
and of
righteousness ,
and of
judgment:
And when He comes
, He
will convict the world in regard
to
sin and righteousness and judgment:
of
sin, because they believe
not on
me;
in
regard
to
sin, because they do
not believe
in
Me;
of
righteousness, because I go
to the Father ,
and ye
behold
me
no more
;
in
regard
to
righteousness, because I am
going
to the Father and you
will
no longer
see
Me
;
of
judgment, because the prince of this world hath
been judged
.
and
in
regard
to
judgment, because the prince of this world has
been condemned
.
I have yet
many
things
to say
unto
you, but ye
cannot bear them
now
.
I still
have much
to tell
you, but you
cannot yet
bear to
hear
it
.
Howbeit
when
he
, the Spirit of truth ,
is
come
, he shall
guide you into all the
truth :
for he shall
not speak from
himself;
but what things
soever
he shall
hear
, `these'
shall
he
speak:
and he shall
declare unto
you the
things
that
are
to come.
However
, when
the Spirit of truth comes
, He will
guide you into all truth .
For He will
not speak on
His
own,
but He
will
speak
what He hears
, and He will
declare to
you what
is
to come.
He shall
glorify me :
for
he
shall
take
of
mine ,
and shall
declare
`
it '
unto
you.
He will
glorify Me by
taking
from
what
is
Mine and disclosing
it to
you.
All
things
whatsoever
the Father hath
are
mine :
therefore
said
I ,
that he
taketh
of
mine ,
and shall
declare
`
it '
unto
you.
Everything
that
belongs
to
the Father is
Mine .
That
is
why
I said
that the
Spirit
will
take
from
what
is
Mine and disclose
it to
you.
A little while ,
and
ye
behold
me no more ;
and again
a little while ,
and
ye
shall
see me.
In
a little while you
will
see
Me no more ,
and then
after
a little while you
will
see Me. ”

Some '
of his disciples therefore
said
one to
another, What
is this
that
he saith
unto
us, A little while ,
and
ye
behold
me
not ;
and again
a little while ,
and
ye
shall
see me :
and ,
Because I go
to the Father?
Then
some of His disciples asked
one another, “Why
is He telling
us, ‘In
a little while you
will
not see
Me,
and then
after
a little while you
will
see Me ’
and ‘
Because I am
going
to the Father ’
? ”
They said
therefore
, What
is this
that
he saith
, A little while? We know
not what he saith
.
They kept
asking
, “Why
is He saying
, ‘
a little while ’
? We do
not understand
what He is
saying
. ”
Jesus
perceived
that they were
desirous
to ask
him, and
he
said unto
them, Do
ye
inquire
among
yourselves
concerning
this,
that
I said, A little while ,
and
ye
behold
me
not, and again
a little while ,
and
ye
shall
see me?
Aware
that they wanted
to question
Him, Jesus
said to
them, “Are
you
asking
one
another
why
I said, ‘In
a little while you
will
not see
Me
, and then
after
a little while you
will
see Me ’
?
Verily
, verily
, I say
unto
you, that
ye
shall
weep and lament,
but
the world shall
rejoice:
ye
shall
be
sorrowful
, but your sorrow
shall
be
turned
into
joy.
Truly
, truly
, I tell
you, you
will
weep and wail
while
the world rejoices.
You
will
grieve
, but your grief
will
turn
to
joy.
A woman when
she
is
in travail
hath
sorrow,
because her hour
is
come :
but when she is
delivered
of
the
child, she remembereth
no
more
the
anguish ,
for
the
joy that a man
is
born into the world.
A woman has
pain
in childbirth
because her time
has
come ;
but when she brings
forth
her
child, she forgets
her
anguish because
of
her
joy that a child
has
been
born into the world.
And
ye
therefore
now
have sorrow :
but I will see you again ,
and your heart
shall
rejoice, and your
joy
no one taketh
away from
you
.
So
also
you
have sorrow now,
but I will see you again and your hearts
will
rejoice, and no one will
take
away your
joy
.
And
in that day ye
shall
ask me no
question
. Verily
, verily
, I say
unto
you, if
ye
shall
ask anything
of
the Father, he will give it
you in
my
name
.
In that day you
will
no
longer
ask Me anything
. Truly
, truly
, I tell
you, whatever
you
ask the Father in
My
name
, He will give you.
Hitherto
have ye
asked nothing
in my name :
ask ,
and ye
shall
receive, that your joy may be made
full
.
Until
now
you
have not
asked for
anything
in My name .
Ask and you
will
receive, so
that your joy may be complete
.
These
things
have
I spoken unto
you in dark
sayings:
the
hour cometh,
when I shall
no more
speak unto
you in
dark
sayings
, but shall
tell you plainly of
the Father.
I have
spoken these
things
to
you in figures
of
speech.
An
hour is
coming
when I will
no longer
speak to
you this
way
, but will
tell you plainly about
the Father.
In that day ye
shall
ask in my name :
and
I say
not unto
you,
that I will pray
the Father for
you;
In that day you
will
ask in My name .
I am
not saying
that I will ask
the Father on
your
behalf.
for the Father himself loveth
you, because ye
have loved me ,
and have believed that I came forth
from the
Father
.
For the Father Himself loves
you, because you
have loved Me and have believed that I came from God
.
I came out
from the Father ,
and am
come
into
the world :
again
, I leave the world ,
and go unto
the Father.
I came from the Father and entered
the world .
In
turn
, I will
leave the world and go to
the Father. ”
His disciples say
, Lo
, now speakest
thou
plainly ,
and speakest
no
dark
saying
.
His disciples said
, “See
, now You
are
speaking
plainly and without
figures
of
speech
.
Now know
we that thou
knowest
all things ,
and needest
not
that any
man
should
ask
thee:
by
this we believe that thou
camest
forth
from God.
Now we understand
that You
know
all things and that You
have
no
need
for
anyone
to
question
You.
Because
of
this ,
we believe that You
came
from God. ”
Jesus
answered
them,
Do ye
now
believe?
“
Do you
finally
believe? ”
Jesus
replied.
Behold
, the
hour cometh,
yea,
is come ,
that
ye
shall
be scattered, every
man
to his own, and shall
leave me alone :
and
`
yet '
I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
“Look
, an
hour is coming
and
has
already
come when
you
will
be scattered, each
to his own home
, and you
will
leave Me all
alone .
Yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me.
These
things
have
I spoken
unto
you ,
that in me ye
may have peace. In the world ye
have tribulation :
but be
of
good
cheer
; I have overcome the world .
I have
told
you these
things
so
that in Me you
may have peace. In the world you
will
have tribulation .
But take
courage
; I have overcome the world !”
