YLT
Young's Literal Translation
And the
LORD
said
to
Job:
And Jehovah
doth
answer
Job ,
and
saith
: --
“Will
the faultfinder
contend
with the Almighty
? Let him who
argues
with
God
give
an
answer. ”
Is
the striver
with the Mighty
instructed
? The
reprover
of
God,
let him answer it
.
Then
Job answered
the
LORD
:
And
Job answereth
Jehovah,
and
saith
: --
“Behold
, I am
insignificant.
How
can
I reply
to You
? I
place
my hand over
my mouth.
Lo
, I have
been
vile,
What
do
I return
to Thee
? My hand I
have
placed
on
my mouth.
I have spoken once
, but
I have
no
answer —
twice, but
I have
nothing
to
add. ”
Once
I have spoken, and
I answer not,
And
twice, and
I add not
.
Then
the
LORD
answered
Job out of the whirlwind and said
:
And
Jehovah
answereth
Job out of the whirlwind ,
and saith
: --
“Now
brace
yourself
like
a man ;
I will
question
you
, and you
shall
inform
Me.
Gird,
I
pray
thee,
as
a man ,
thy
loins,
I ask
thee
, and cause
thou
Me to
know
.
Would
you
really
annul
My justice
? Would
you
condemn Me to
justify
yourself
?
Dost
thou
also
make
void
My judgment
? Dost
thou
condemn Me ,
That
thou
mayest
be
righteous
?
Do
you
have
an arm like God’s
? Can
you
thunder
with a voice like His
?
And
an arm like God
hast
thou
? And
with a voice like Him
dost
thou
thunder
?
Then
adorn
yourself
with
majesty
and
splendor
, and clothe
yourself
with
honor
and glory
.
Put
on
, I
pray
thee,
excellency
and loftiness,
Yea,
honour
and beauty
put
on
.
Unleash
the fury
of
your
wrath ;
look
on
every proud man
and bring
him low.
Scatter
abroad
the wrath of
thine
anger,
And
see
every proud one,
and make
him low.
Look
on
every proud man
and
humble him ;
trample
the wicked where
they
stand
.
See
every proud one
--
humble him ,
And
tread
down
the wicked in
their
place
.
Bury
them together
in the dust ;
imprison
them
in the
grave
.
Hide
them in the dust together,
Their
faces
bind
in secret
.
Then
I will
confess
to
you
that
your
own
right hand can
save
you
.
And
even
I --
I
do
praise
thee,
For
thy
right hand giveth
salvation
to
thee
.
Look
at
Behemoth, which
I made along
with you.
He
feeds
on
grass like
an ox.
Lo,
I
pray
thee,
Behemoth, that
I made with thee:
Grass as
an ox he
eateth
.
See
the
strength
of
his loins and the
power
in the muscles of his belly.
Lo,
I
pray
thee,
his power
`is'
in
his
loins ,
And his
strength
in the muscles of his belly.
His tail sways
like
a cedar ;
the sinews of his thighs are tightly
knit.
He
doth
bend
his tail as
a cedar ,
The sinews of his thighs are wrapped
together,
His bones are tubes of bronze;
his limbs
are rods
of iron.
His bones `
are '
tubes of brass,
His bones
`
are '
as
a
bar
of iron.
He is the foremost
of God’s
works;
only
his Maker can
draw
the
sword against
him.
He `
is '
a
beginning
of
the ways
of God,
His Maker bringeth
nigh
his
sword ;
The
hills
yield
him their
produce
, while
all the beasts of the field play nearby
.
For
food
do
mountains
bear
for
him, And
all the beasts of the field play there
.
He
lies
under the
lotus
plants
, hidden
among
the
reeds
of the
marsh
.
Under shades
he
lieth
down
, In
a
secret
place
of reed
and
mire
.
The
lotus
plants
conceal
him in
their shade;
the
willows of the brook surround
him
.
Cover
him do
shades,
`with'
their shadow,
Cover
him
do
willows of the brook.
Though
the
river
rages
, Behemoth
is
unafraid;
he remains
secure
, though the
Jordan surges
to
his mouth.
Lo
, a
flood
oppresseth
--
he doth
not
haste
, He
is
confident
though Jordan Doth
come
forth
unto
his mouth.
Can
anyone
capture
him as
he
looks
on
, or
pierce his
nose with
a
snare
?
Before
his
eyes
doth
`one'
take
him, With
snares
doth
`one'
pierce the
nose?
