“
At this my heart also
pounds
and leaps
from
its place.
Yea,
at this my heart trembleth,
And is
moved
out
of
its place.
Listen
closely
to
the thunder
of His voice and the rumbling
that comes
from
His mouth.
Hear,
oh,
hear
the noise
of his voice ,
And the sound
that goeth
out
of
his mouth.
He unleashes
His
lightning
beneath
the whole sky
and sends
it
to
the ends of the earth.
He sendeth
it
forth
under
the whole heaven,
And his
lightening
unto
the ends of the earth.
Then
there
comes
a roaring
sound
; He thunders
with His
majestic
voice .
He does
not restrain
the lightning
when His voice resounds
.
After
it
a voice
roareth
; He thundereth
with the
voice of
his
majesty;
And
he restraineth
not `
the lightnings'
when his voice is
heard
.
God thunders
wondrously
with His voice; He
does
great things we cannot comprehend.
God thundereth
marvellously
with his voice; Great things doeth
he,
which
we cannot comprehend.
For He says
to the snow, ‘
Fall on the earth ,’
and
to the gentle
rain, ‘Pour
out
a
mighty downpour
. ’
For he saith
to the snow, Fall thou
on the earth ;
Likewise
to the shower
of
rain, And
to
the
showers
of
his
mighty rain
.
He seals
up the hand of every man, so
that all men may know His
work
.
He sealeth
up the hand of every man, That all men whom
he
hath
made
may know `it'
.
The wild
animals
enter
their
lairs;
they
settle
down
in their dens.
Then
the beasts
go
into
coverts,
And
remain
in their dens.
The tempest
comes
from
its
chamber, and the
cold from
the driving
north winds
.
Out
of
the chamber `of
the
south'
cometh
the
storm
, And cold out
of
the north.
By the breath of God the
ice is formed
and the watery
expanses
are
frozen
.
By the breath of God ice is given;
And the breadth
of
the
waters
is
straitened
.
He loads
the clouds
with moisture; He scatters
His lightning through
them.
Yea,
he ladeth
the thick
cloud
with moisture; He spreadeth
abroad
the
cloud
of
his lightning :
They
swirl
about ,
whirling
at
His direction
, accomplishing
all
that He commands
over
the face of all
the earth.
And
it
is
turned
round
about by
his guidance
, That they
may
do
whatsoever
he commandeth
them
Upon
the face of the habitable
world,
Whether for punishment
or for His land, He accomplishes
this
in
His
loving
devotion
.
Whether it
be
for correction,
or for his land, Or
for
lovingkindness,
that
he cause
it
to
come
.
Listen
to
this, O Job ;
stand still and consider the wonders
of God.
Hearken
unto
this, O Job :
Stand still ,
and consider the wondrous
works
of God.
Do
you
know how God dispatches
the
clouds
or
makes
the lightning flash
?
Dost
thou
know how God layeth
`his
charge'
upon
them,
And
causeth
the lightning of
his
cloud
to
shine
?
Do
you
understand
how
the clouds float
, those
wonders
of Him who is perfect in knowledge?
Dost
thou
know
the balancings
of
the
clouds, The
wondrous
works
of him who is perfect in knowledge?
You
whose
clothes
get
hot
when the land
lies
hushed
under
the south wind ,
How
thy
garments
are
warm,
When the earth
is
still
by
reason
of
the south `
wind '?
can
you,
like
Him ,
spread out the skies
to
reflect
the
heat
like
a mirror of
bronze
?
Canst
thou
with
him spread out the sky,
Which
is
strong
as
a molten
mirror?
Teach us what we should
say to
Him; we cannot draw
up
our
case
when
our faces
are
in darkness.
Teach us what we shall
say unto
him; `For'
we cannot set
`
our speech'
in order
by
reason
of
darkness.
Should
He
be told that I want
to
speak? Would
a man ask
to
be
swallowed up ?
Shall
it
be told him
that I would
speak? Or
should
a man wish
that
he
were
swallowed up?
Now no
one
can
gaze
at
the sun
when
it
is bright in the skies after
the wind has
swept
them clean
.
And
now men
see
not
the light
which
is bright in the skies ;
But
the wind passeth,
and
cleareth
them.
Out of the north He
comes
in
golden splendor ;
awesome
majesty
surrounds
Him.
Out of the north cometh
golden splendor :
God
hath
upon
him terrible
majesty
.
The Almighty is
beyond
our
reach;
He is exalted
in power !
In His
justice and great
righteousness He does
not oppress
.
`Touching'
the Almighty ,
we
cannot
find
him
out
He is excellent
in power ;
And
in justice and plenteous
righteousness he will
not afflict
.
Therefore,
men fear Him ,
for
He is
not partial
to
the
wise in
heart. ”
Men do
therefore
fear him :
He regardeth
not any
that
are
wise of
heart.
