This
is
the word that came to Jeremiah from the
LORD:
The word that came to Jeremiah from Jehovah,
saying,
“This
is
what
the
LORD
, the God of Israel, says:
‘
Write in
a
book
all the words that I have spoken to
you
.
Thus
speaketh
Jehovah
, the God of Israel, saying,
Write thee
all the words that I have spoken unto
thee
in
a
book
.
For behold
, the days are
coming
, declares
the
LORD
, when
I will restore
from
captivity My people Israel and Judah, declares
the
LORD.
I will restore
them to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they will
possess it. ’”
For, lo,
the days come
, saith
Jehovah
, that
I will turn
again
the
captivity of
my people Israel and Judah, saith
Jehovah;
and
I will cause
them to return
to
the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall
possess it.
These are the words that the
LORD
spoke
concerning Israel and Judah.
And
these are the words that Jehovah
spake
concerning Israel and concerning
Judah.
Yes,
this
is
what
the
LORD
says
: “A
cry
of
panic
is
heard —
a cry
of terror
, not of peace.
For
thus
saith
Jehovah
: We
have
heard a voice
of trembling
, of
fear,
and
not of peace.
Ask now, and see :
Can
a male
give
birth?
Why
then
do I see every man with his hands on his stomach
like
a woman in labor
and every
face
turned pale
?
Ask ye
now, and see whether
a man
doth
travail
with
child:
wherefore
do I see every man with his hands on his loins,
as
a woman in travail,
and all
faces
are
turned into
paleness
?
How
awful
that day will
be!
None will
be
like it !
It is the time of Jacob’s
distress,
but he will
be saved out of it.
Alas!
for
that day is
great,
so
that
none is
like it :
it is even
the time of Jacob's
trouble;
but he shall
be saved out of it.
On
that day, declares
the
LORD
of Hosts, I will break the
yoke off
their
necks
and
tear
off their
bonds
, and no
longer
will strangers enslave
them.
And
it
shall
come
to
pass
in
that day, saith
Jehovah
of hosts, that
I will break his
yoke from
off thy
neck
, and will burst
thy
bonds;
and
strangers shall
no
more
make
him
their
bondman;
Instead,
they will
serve the
LORD
their God and David their king, whom I will raise up for
them.
but
they shall
serve Jehovah
their God ,
and David their king, whom I will raise up unto
them.
As
for
you
, O Jacob My servant, do
not
be
afraid,
declares
the
LORD,
and
do
not
be dismayed, O Israel .
For I will surely
save you
out
of
a
distant
place
, your
descendants
from the land of their captivity !
Jacob will
return to
quiet and ease, with
no
one
to
make him afraid.
Therefore
fear
thou
not
, O Jacob my servant, saith
Jehovah;
neither
be dismayed, O Israel :
for ,
lo,
I will save thee
from
afar
, and
thy
seed
from the land of their captivity ;
and
Jacob shall
return ,
and
shall
be
quiet and at
ease, and
none
shall
make him afraid.
For I am with you
to save you,
declares
the
LORD.
Though
I will completely
destroy
all the nations to
which
I have scattered you
, I will not completely
destroy
you.
Yet
I will discipline
you
justly
, and will by
no means
leave you
unpunished. ”
For I am with thee,
saith
Jehovah,
to save thee:
for
I will make
a
full
end
of
all the nations whither
I have scattered thee
, but
I will not make
a
full
end
of
thee;
but
I will correct
thee
in
measure
, and will in
no wise
leave thee
unpunished.
For this
is
what
the
LORD
says:
“Your
injury
is incurable ;
your
wound is
grievous.
For thus
saith
Jehovah,
Thy
hurt
is incurable ,
and
thy
wound grievous.
There is no
one
to plead your
cause, no
remedy
for
your
sores,
no recovery
for
you
.
There is none
to plead thy
cause, that
thou
mayest
be
bound
up:
thou
hast
no healing
medicines
.
All your
lovers have forgotten you
; they no
longer
seek you,
for I have struck
you
as
an enemy would
, with the discipline
of someone
cruel, because
of your
great
iniquity and
your
numerous
sins.
All thy
lovers have forgotten thee
; they seek thee
not:
for I have wounded
thee
with
the
wound
of
an enemy, with the chastisement
of a
cruel one
, for
the
greatness
of thine
iniquity ,
because
thy
sins were
increased
.
Why do
you
cry
out
over
your
wound
? Your
pain has
no
cure!
Because
of your
great
iniquity and
your
numerous
sins I have done these things to
you
.
Why criest
thou
for
thy
hurt
? thy
pain is
incurable:
for
the
greatness
of thine
iniquity ,
because
thy
sins were
increased,
I have done these things unto
thee
.
Nevertheless,
all who
devour you
will
be devoured ,
and all your
adversaries —
every one of them —
will
go off
into exile.
Those
who
plundered
you
will
be plundered
, and all who
raided
you
will be
raided
.
Therefore
all they
that
devour thee
shall
be devoured ;
and all thine
adversaries ,
every one of them ,
shall
go into captivity;
and
they
that
despoil
thee
shall
be a
spoil
, and all that
prey
upon
thee
will I
give
for
a
prey
.
But
I will restore your
health and heal your
wounds, declares
the
LORD,
because they call
you
an outcast, Zion, for
whom no one
cares
. ”
For
I will restore health unto
thee,
and I
will
heal thee
of
thy
wounds, saith
Jehovah;
because they have
called
thee
an outcast, `saying',
It
is
Zion, whom no man
seeketh
after
.
This
is
what
the
LORD
says
: “
I will restore
the fortunes
of Jacob’s
tents and have compassion on his dwellings.
And the city will
be rebuilt
on
her
own ruins
, and the palace will
stand
in
its rightful
place
.
Thus
saith
Jehovah
: Behold,
I will turn
again
the captivity
of Jacob's
tents ,
and have compassion on his dwelling-places;
and the city shall
be builded
upon
its
own hill
, and the palace shall
be
inhabited
after
its own
manner
.
Thanksgiving
will
proceed
from
them ,
a
sound
of celebration.
I will multiply them, and they will
not be decreased
; I will honor
them, and they will
not be belittled
.
And
out
of
them shall
proceed
thanksgiving
and
the
voice
of them
that
make
merry:
and
I will multiply them, and they shall
not be few
; I will also
glorify
them, and they shall
not be small
.
Their children will
be as in
days
of
old
, and their congregation will
be established before Me; and I will punish all their
oppressors
.
Their children also
shall
be as aforetime
, and their congregation shall
be established before me; and I will punish all that
oppress
them
.
Their leader
will
be one
of their
own
, and their ruler will
arise
from their
midst .
And I will bring
him near, and he will
approach Me ,
for who would
dare
on
his
own
to approach Me? ”
declares
the
LORD
.
And
their prince
shall
be of themselves
, and their ruler shall
proceed
from the
midst of
them;
and I will cause
him to
draw
near, and he shall
approach unto
me :
for who is
he
that
hath
had
boldness
to approach unto
me? saith
Jehovah
.
“
And you
will
be My people, and I will be your God. ”
And ye
shall
be my people, and I will be your God.
Behold, the storm
of the
LORD
has
gone out
with
fury
, a whirlwind
swirling
down
upon the heads
of the wicked.
Behold, the tempest
of Jehovah,
`even
his'
wrath,
is
gone forth
, a sweeping
tempest:
it
shall
burst
upon the head
of the wicked.
The fierce anger of the
LORD
will
not turn
back
until He has
fully
accomplished
the purposes
of His heart .
In the days to
come
you
will
understand this
.
The fierce anger of Jehovah
shall
not return,
until he have
executed,
and
till
he
have
performed
the intents
of his heart :
in the latter
days ye
shall
understand it
.
