In
the fifth
month
of
that
same year, the
fourth
year,
near
the beginning of the reign of King
Zedekiah of Judah, the prophet
Hananiah son of Azzur, who was from
Gibeon, said
to me in the house of the
LORD
in the presence of the priests and all the people :
It
happened
the same year, in
the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king
of Judah, in
the fourth
year,
in
the
fifth
month,
that
Hananiah the
son of Azzur, the
prophet,
who was of
Gibeon, spoke
to me in the house of Yahweh,
in the presence of the priests and of
all the people ,
saying,
“This
is
what
the
LORD
of Hosts, the God of Israel, says:
‘
I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.
Thus
speaks
Yahweh
of Hosts, the God of Israel, saying,
I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.
Within two years I
will restore
to
this place all the articles
of the
house of
the
LORD
that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon removed
from here
and carried to Babylon .
Within two full
years will I
bring
again
into
this place all the vessels
of Yahweh's
house ,
that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took
away
from this
place,
and carried to Babylon :
And I will restore
to this place Jeconiah son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, along
with all the exiles
from
Judah who went to Babylon, ’
declares
the
LORD,
‘
for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon. ’”
and I will bring
again
to this place Jeconiah the
son of Jehoiakim ,
king of Judah, with all the captives
of
Judah ,
who went to Babylon, says
Yahweh;
for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.
Then the prophet Jeremiah replied
to the prophet Hananiah in the presence of the priests and all the people who were
standing
in the house of the
LORD.
Then the prophet Jeremiah said
to the prophet Hananiah in the presence of the priests ,
and in
the
presence
of
all the people who stood
in the house of Yahweh,
“Amen!”
Jeremiah said .
“May
the
LORD
do so !
May
the
LORD
fulfill
the
words you have prophesied, and
may
He
restore
the articles
of His
house and all the exiles
back
to this place from
Babylon
.
even
the
prophet
Jeremiah said ,
Amen:
Yahweh
do so ;
Yahweh
perform
your
words which
you have prophesied, to
bring
again
the vessels
of Yahweh's
house ,
and all them
of
the captivity,
from
Babylon
to this place.
Nevertheless ,
listen
now to
this message
I am
speaking
in your hearing
and in the hearing
of all the people .
Nevertheless hear
you
now this word
that
I speak
in your ears,
and in the ears
of all the people :
The prophets of
old
who preceded
you
and
me prophesied
war,
disaster,
and plague
against many lands
and great kingdoms.
The prophets who have
been
before
me and before
you
of
old
prophesied
against many countries,
and against
great kingdoms ,
of
war,
and
of
evil,
and
of
pestilence
.
As
for
the prophet who prophesies peace, only
if
the word of the prophet comes
true
will
the prophet be recognized
as
one
the
LORD
has truly sent. ”
The prophet who prophesies of
peace, when
the word of the prophet shall
happen,
then
shall
the prophet be known,
that
Yahweh
has truly sent him
.
Then the prophet Hananiah
took the yoke
off the neck
of
Jeremiah
the
prophet and broke it.
Then Hananiah
the prophet took the bar
from
off the prophet Jeremiah's
neck,
and broke it.
And
in the presence of all the people Hananiah
proclaimed
, “This
is
what
the
LORD
says: ‘In
this
way,
within
two
years
I
will break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon off the neck of all the nations. ’”
At
this,
Jeremiah
the prophet went on
his way.
Hananiah
spoke
in the presence of all the people, saying,
Thus
says Yahweh
: Even
so
will I
break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon within
two
full
years
from
off the neck of all the nations. The prophet Jeremiah
went his way.
But
shortly
after Hananiah the prophet had broken the yoke
off his
neck,
the word
of the LORD
came
to
Jeremiah :
Then
the
word
of
Yahweh
came
to
Jeremiah,
after that
Hananiah the prophet had broken the bar
from
off the neck
of the prophet
Jeremiah ,
saying,
“
Go and tell Hananiah that
this
is
what
the
LORD
says: ‘
You have broken a
yoke
of wood ,
but in
its
place
you have fashioned
a
yoke
of iron. ’
Go ,
and tell Hananiah ,
saying,
Thus
says Yahweh
: You have broken the
bars
of wood ;
but you have made
in
their
place
bars
of iron.
For this
is
what
the
LORD
of Hosts, the God of Israel ,
says
: ‘
I have put a yoke of iron on the neck of all these nations to
make
them
serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon ,
and they will
serve him .
I have even
given him control
of
the beasts
of the field. ’”
For thus
says
Yahweh
of Hosts, the God of Israel: I have put a yoke of iron on the neck of all these nations ,
that
they
may
serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon ;
and they shall
serve him :
and
I have given him the animals
of the field also
.
Then the prophet Jeremiah said
to the prophet Hananiah
, “Listen
, Hananiah !
The
LORD
did
not send
you ,
but you have
persuaded
this people to trust in a lie.
Then said
the prophet Jeremiah to Hananiah
the prophet, Hear
now
, Hananiah :
Yahweh
has
not sent
you ;
but you make
this people to trust in a lie.
Therefore this
is
what
the
LORD
says :
‘
I am
about
to
remove
you from the face
of the earth .
You
will
die
this year because you have preached
rebellion against the
LORD
. ’”
Therefore thus
says Yahweh,
Behold,
I will
send
you away
from off
the surface
of the earth :
this year you
shall
die,
because you have spoken
rebellion against Yahweh
.
And
in the seventh month of
that
very
year,
the
prophet
Hananiah
died
.
So
Hananiah
the
prophet
died
the
same
year
in the seventh month.
