Woe to you, O
destroyer
never
destroyed, O
traitor
never
betrayed
! When you have finished
destroying
, you will
be destroyed .
When you have finished
betraying
, you will
be
betrayed
.
Woe to you who
destroy
, and
you
weren't
destroyed ;
and
deal
treacherously
, and
they
didn't
deal
treacherously
with
you
! When you have ceased
to
destroy
, you shall
be destroyed ;
and
when you have made
an
end
of
dealing
treacherously
, they
shall
deal
treacherously
with
you.
O
LORD
, be gracious to us !
We wait
for You .
Be our strength
every morning and
our salvation in time of trouble.
Yahweh
, be gracious to us ;
we have
waited
for you :
be our arm
every morning ,
our salvation also
in the
time of trouble.
The peoples
flee
the thunder of
Your
voice
; the nations scatter
when
You
rise
.
At
the noise
of
the thunder the
peoples
are
fled
; at
the lifting
up
of
yourself
the
nations are
scattered
.
Your spoil ,
O
nations,
is
gathered as by
locusts;
like
a
swarm
of
locusts men sweep
over
it.
Your spoil shall
be
gathered as the
caterpillar
gathers:
as
locusts leap
shall
men leap
on
it.
The
LORD
is exalted ,
for He dwells on high ;
He has filled Zion with justice and righteousness.
Yahweh
is exalted ;
for he dwells on high :
he has filled Zion with justice and righteousness.
He
will
be the
sure
foundation
for
your times, a
storehouse
of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge .
The fear of the
LORD
is Zion’s
treasure.
There
shall
be stability
in
your times, abundance
of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge :
the fear of Yahweh
is your
treasure.
Behold, their valiant ones cry aloud
in
the
streets
; the envoys
of peace weep bitterly.
Behold, their valiant ones cry outside
; the ambassadors
of peace weep bitterly.
The highways are
deserted;
travel
has
ceased.
The treaty
has been
broken ,
the witnesses
are
despised, and
human
life
is
disregarded
.
The highways lie
waste,
the wayfaring
man
ceases:
[the
enemy]
has broken the covenant,
he
has
despised the
cities
, he
doesn't
regard
man
.
The land mourns and languishes; Lebanon is ashamed
and decayed.
Sharon is like a desert; Bashan and Carmel shake off their leaves.
The land mourns and languishes; Lebanon is confounded
and withers
away;
Sharon is like a desert; and
Bashan and Carmel shake off [
their leaves ]
.
“
Now I
will arise, ”
says the
LORD.
“
Now I
will lift Myself
up .
Now I
will be exalted.
Now will I
arise, says Yahweh;
now will I
lift up myself;
now will I
be exalted.
You conceive chaff ;
you give
birth
to
stubble .
Your breath is a fire that will
consume
you.
You shall
conceive chaff ,
you shall
bring
forth
stubble :
your breath is a fire that shall
devour
you.
The peoples will
be burned
to
ashes
, like
thorns cut down and
set
ablaze
.
The peoples shall
be as
the
burning
of
lime
, as
thorns cut down ,
that
are
burned
in
the
fire
.
You who are far off, hear
what I have done; you who are near, acknowledge My might. ”
Hear,
you who are far off, what I have done; and,
you who are near, acknowledge my might.
The sinners in Zion are afraid; trembling grips
the ungodly
: “
Who of
us can dwell with a
consuming
fire? Who of
us can dwell with everlasting flames
? ”
The sinners in Zion are afraid; trembling has
seized
the godless
ones
: Who among
us can dwell with the
devouring
fire? who among
us can dwell with everlasting burning
?
He who walks righteously and speaks with
sincerity,
who refuses
gain from
extortion
, whose
hand
never
takes
a bribe, who stops his ears against
murderous
plots
and shuts his eyes tightly
against
evil —
He who walks righteously ,
and speaks blamelessly;
he
who despises
the
gain of
oppressions
, who
shakes
his
hands
from
taking
a bribe, who stops his ears from
hearing
of
blood,
and shuts his eyes from
looking
on
evil :
he will
dwell on the
heights
; the
mountain
fortress
will
be
his refuge
; his food
will
be provided
and
his water
assured
.
He shall
dwell on high
; his place
of
defense
shall
be
the
munitions
of
rocks
; his bread
shall
be given
[him];
his waters
shall
be
sure
.
Your eyes will
see the King in His beauty and
behold
a land that stretches
afar.
Your eyes shall
see the king in his beauty :
they
shall
see
a land that reaches
afar.
Your mind
will
ponder
the former
terror: “
Where is he who tallies?
Where is he who weighs
? Where is he who counts
the towers? ”
Your heart
shall
muse
on
the terror: Where is he who counted,
where is he who weighed
[the
tribute]
? where is he who counted
the towers?
You will
no
longer
see the insolent
, a people whose
speech is
unintelligible
, who
stammer
in
a language you cannot
understand.
You shall
not
see the fierce
people
, a people of
a
deep
speech that
you
can
not
comprehend
, of
a strange
language that
you can
not
understand.
Look upon
Zion, the city of our appointed
feasts.
Your eyes will
see Jerusalem ,
a peaceful
pasture
, a tent that does
not
wander;
its
tent
pegs
will
not be pulled
up, nor
will
any of its
cords be broken.
Look on
Zion, the city of our solemnities:
your eyes shall
see Jerusalem a quiet
habitation
, a tent that shall
not be removed,
the
stakes
of
it
shall
never
be
plucked
up, neither
shall
any of the
cords of
it
be broken.
But there the
Majestic
One,
our
LORD,
will be for
us a place of rivers and wide
canals
, where
no galley with oars will
row
, and
no
majestic
vessel
will
pass.
But there Yahweh
will be with
us in
majesty,
a place of broad
rivers and streams
, in
which
shall
go
no galley with oars, neither
shall
gallant
ship
pass thereby
.
For the
LORD
is our Judge, the
LORD
is our lawgiver, the
LORD
is our King .
It
is
He who
will save us.
For Yahweh
is our judge, Yahweh
is our lawgiver, Yahweh
is our king ;
he will save us.
Your ropes
are
slack
; they cannot
secure
the mast or
spread the sail .
Then an
abundance
of spoils
will
be
divided ,
and
even
the lame will
carry
off
plunder
.
Your rigging
is
untied
; they could
not
strengthen
the foot
of
their
mast ,
they
could
not
spread the sail :
then was
the
prey
of a
great
spoil
divided ;
the lame took
the
prey
.
And
no
resident
of
Zion
will
say, “
I am sick .”
The people who dwell there
will
be forgiven of
iniquity.
The
inhabitant
shall
not
say, I am sick :
the people who dwell therein
shall
be forgiven their
iniquity.
