Send you the lambs for the ruler of the land from Selah to the wilderness, to the mountain of the daughter of Zion.
Send the tribute lambs to the ruler of the land , from Sela in the desert to the mount of Daughter Zion.
For it shall be that, as wandering birds , as a scattered nest, so shall the daughters of Moab be at the fords of the Arnon .
Like fluttering birds pushed out of the nest, so are the daughters of Moab at the fords of the Arnon :
Give counsel , execute justice ; make your shade as the night in the midst of the noonday; hide the outcasts ; don't betray the fugitive .
Give us counsel; render a decision. Shelter us at noonday with shade as dark as night . Hide the refugees ; do not betray the one who flees .
Let my outcasts dwell with you; as for Moab, be a covert to him from the face of the destroyer. For the extortioner is brought to nothing , destruction ceases , the oppressors are consumed out of the land .
Let my fugitives stay with you; be a refuge for Moab from the destroyer. When the oppressor has gone , destruction has ceased , and the oppressors have vanished from the land ,
A throne shall be established in loving kindness; and one shall sit thereon in truth, in the tent of David , judging, and seeking justice , and swift to do righteousness.
in loving devotion a throne will be established in the tent of David . A judge seeking justice and hastening righteousness will sit on it in faithfulness .
We have heard of the pride of Moab, [that] he is very proud; even of his arrogance , and his pride , and his wrath; his boastings are nothing .
We have heard of Moab’s pomposity , his exceeding pride and conceit, his overflowing arrogance. But his boasting is empty .
Therefore shall Moab wail for Moab , everyone shall wail: for the raisin - cakes of Kir Hareseth shall you mourn , utterly stricken.
Therefore let Moab wail ; let them wail together for Moab . Moan for the raisin cakes of Kir - hareseth, you who are utterly stricken.
For the fields of Heshbon languish , [and] the vine of Sibmah ; the lords of the nations have broken down the choice branches of it , which reached even to Jazer , which wandered into the wilderness; its shoots were spread abroad, they passed over the sea.
For the fields of Heshbon have withered , along with the grapevines of Sibmah . The rulers of the nations have trampled its choicest vines , which had reached as far as Jazer and spread toward the desert. Their shoots had spread out and passed over the sea.
Therefore I will weep with the weeping of Jazer for the vine of Sibmah; I will water you with my tears, Heshbon , and Elealeh : for on your summer fruits and on your harvest the [battle] shout is fallen .
So I weep with Jazer for the vines of Sibmah; I drench Heshbon and Elealeh with my tears. Triumphant shouts have fallen silent over your summer fruit and your harvest.
Gladness is taken away, and joy out of the fruitful field ; and in the vineyards there shall be no singing, neither joyful noise: nobody shall tread out wine in the presses ; I have made the [vintage] shout to cease .
Joy and gladness are removed from the orchard ; no one sings or shouts in the vineyards . No one tramples the grapes in the winepresses ; I have put an end to the cheering .
Why my heart sounds like a harp for Moab , and my inward parts for Kir Heres.
Therefore my heart laments for Moab like a harp, my inmost being for Kir - heres.
It shall happen, when Moab presents himself, when he wearies himself on the high place, and shall come to his sanctuary to pray, that he shall not prevail .
When Moab appears on the high place, when he wearies himself and enters his sanctuary to pray, it will do him no good .
This is the word that Yahweh spoke concerning Moab in time past .
This is the message that the LORD spoke earlier concerning Moab.
But now Yahweh has spoken, saying , Within three years, as the years of a hireling , the glory of Moab shall be brought into contempt, with all his great multitude; and the remnant shall be very small and of no account .
And now the LORD says , “In three years, as a hired worker counts the years, Moab’s splendor will become an object of contempt, with all her many people. And those who are left will be few and feeble .
