I have lived

the messengers returned to Jacob, they
said

We went
to your brother Esau, and
now
he is
coming
to meet you —he
and four hundred men with him. ”
The messengers returned to Jacob, saying

only

he comes
to meet you ,
and four hundred men with him. "
In
great
fear
and
distress,
Jacob divided his
people into
two
camps
, as
well
as
the flocks and herds and camels .
Then
Jacob was
greatly
afraid
and
was
distressed:

he
divided the
people who
were
with
him

the flocks ,
and the
herds ,
and the
camels ,
into
two
companies;
He thought
, “
If Esau comes and
attacks
one camp
, then the other
camp
can
escape. ”

he said

If Esau comes to

one company

strikes
it,
then the company

left
will
escape. "

Jacob declared
, “O
God of my father Abraham, God of my father Isaac, the
LORD
who told
me, ‘Go
back
to your country and to your kindred
, and I will make
you prosper,’

God of my father Isaac, Yahweh,
who said
to
me, 'Return
to your country ,
and to your relatives
, and I will do
you good.'
I am unworthy
of all the kindness
and faithfulness
You have shown Your servant .
Indeed,

my staff I came

now I have become two camps
.
I am not
worthy
of the
least

all the loving
kindnesses,
and of
all
the
truth,
which
you have shown to
your servant ;
for
with just
my staff I passed
over

Jordan ;

now I have become two companies
.
Please deliver me from the hand of my brother Esau
, for I am
afraid
that
he may
come and attack
me and the mothers and
children
with me
.
Please deliver me from the hand of my brother, from

hand

Esau:
for I fear
him,
lest
he come and strike
me ,
and the mothers with the
children
.
But
You have
said, ‘
I will surely make
you prosper

make your offspring
like
the sand of the sea, too
numerous

count

night

you meet
Esau, you are

him.

you shall
speak
to
Esau, when
you find
him.
You are

to
say, ‘Look
, your servant Jacob is right
behind us. ’”
For he thought

I will appease Esau
with the gift
that is
going
before me .
After
that
I
can
face
him
, and perhaps he will accept me. ”
You shall
say, 'Not
only
that

behold,
your servant ,
Jacob ,
is behind us. '"

I will appease him
with the present
that goes

So Jacob’s
gifts
went
on
before him ,

he spent

night in the camp.
So the
present
passed
over
before him :

night in the camp.
During
the
night
Jacob
got
up and took his two wives, his two maidservants
, and his eleven sons, and crossed
the ford of the Jabbok.

rose
up that
night,

eat the tendon
which is at
the socket
of the hip

of Jacob’s
hip was
struck

tendon
.

eat the sinew

hip,
which is on
the hollow
of the thigh
, to
this
day,
because he
touched
the hollow
of Jacob's
thigh
in
the
sinew
of
the
hip.
