Yahweh
said to Moses, "
Chisel two stone tablets like the first:
and I will write on the
tablets
the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke.
Then
the
LORD
said to Moses, “
Chisel out
two stone tablets like the originals,
and I will write on them
the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke.
Be ready by
the morning, and come up in
the
morning
to
Mount Sinai ,
and
present yourself there
to
me on the top
of
the
mountain
.
Be ready in
the morning, and come up on
Mount Sinai to
present yourself before
Me on the mountaintop
.
No one shall
come
up with you; neither
let
anyone
be seen throughout
all
the mountain ;
neither
let
the flocks nor
herds feed
before
that
mountain. "
No one may
go
up with you; in
fact,
no
one
may
be seen anywhere
on
the mountain —not
even
the flocks or
herds may
graze
in
front
of
the
mountain. ”
He
chiseled two tablets
of
stone like the first;
and
Moses
rose up
early in the morning, and went up to
Mount Sinai ,
as Yahweh
had commanded him ,
and
took
in
his
hand
two
stone
tablets
.
So
Moses
chiseled out
two stone tablets
like the originals.
He
rose early in the morning, and taking
the
two
stone
tablets
in
his
hands,
he
went up Mount Sinai as the
LORD
had commanded him.
Yahweh
descended in the
cloud, and
stood with him there, and proclaimed the
name of
Yahweh
.
And
the
LORD
descended in a
cloud, stood with him there, and proclaimed His
name ,
the
LORD
.
Yahweh
passed by
before
him,
and proclaimed
, "Yahweh!
Yahweh
, a
merciful
and gracious God
, slow to anger, and
abundant
in loving kindness
and truth
,
Then
the
LORD
passed in
front
of
Moses
and called
out:
“The
LORD
, the
LORD
God
, is
compassionate
and gracious, slow to anger, abounding
in loving devotion
and faithfulness
,
keeping
loving kindness
for
thousands
, forgiving iniquity and
disobedience
and sin ;
and
that
will by no means clear
the guilty ,
visiting
the iniquity of the fathers on the
children ,
and on
the
children's
children,
on
the third and on
the
fourth generation
. "
maintaining
loving devotion
to
a
thousand
generations
, forgiving iniquity ,
transgression,
and sin .
Yet
He
will by no means leave
the guilty unpunished;
He
will
visit
the iniquity of the fathers on their
children and grandchildren
to
the third and fourth generations
. ”
Moses hurried
and
bowed his
head
toward
the earth,
and worshiped.
Moses immediately
bowed down
to
the ground
and worshiped.
He said, "
If now
I have found favor in your sight, Lord, please let
the
Lord
go in
the
midst
of
us ;
although this is a stiff-necked people ;
pardon
our iniquity and our
sin, and take us for
your inheritance. "
“O
Lord,”
he said, “
if I have indeed
found favor in Your sight, my
Lord, please go with
us .
Although this is a stiff-necked people ,
forgive
our iniquity and sin, and take us as
Your inheritance. ”
He
said, "
Behold, I make
a covenant :
before all your people I will do
marvels,
such
as
have not
been worked
in
all
the
earth,
nor
in any nation ;
and
all the people among which
you are
shall
see the work of
Yahweh;
for it is an awesome thing that I do
with you.
And
the
LORD
said, “
Behold, I am
making
a covenant .
Before all your people I will perform
wonders
that
have never
been done
in any nation in
all the world.
All
the
people among whom
you live
will
see the LORD’s
work ,
for it is an awesome thing that I am
doing
with you.
Observe that
which
I command you this day. Behold,
I drive out before you the Amorite
, the
Canaanite
, the
Hittite
, the
Perizzite
, the
Hivite
, and the
Jebusite
.
Observe what
I command you this day. I will
drive out before you the Amorites
, Canaanites
, Hittites
, Perizzites
, Hivites
, and Jebusites
.
Be careful ,
lest
you
make a covenant
with the inhabitants of the land where
you are going
, lest it
be
for
a snare in the
midst of
you:
Be careful not
to
make a treaty
with the inhabitants of the land you are entering
, lest they
become
a snare in your
midst .
but
you shall
break
down their altars, and
dash
in
pieces
their pillars
, and you
shall
cut
down their Asherim;
Rather,
you must
tear
down their altars, smash
their sacred
stones
, and chop
down their Asherah
poles.
for you shall
worship no
other god :
for Yahweh
, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.
For you must
not
worship any
other god ,
for the
LORD
, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.
Don't
make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, lest
they play
the
prostitute after
their gods ,
and sacrifice to their
gods
, and
one
call
you and you eat of
his
sacrifice;
Do
not
make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, for
when
they prostitute themselves
to
their gods and sacrifice to them
, they
will
invite
you ,
and you will
eat their
sacrifices.
and you take of their daughters to
your sons, and
their daughters play
the
prostitute after
their gods ,
and make
your sons play
the prostitute
after
their
gods
.
And when
you take some
of their daughters as
brides
for
your sons, their daughters will
prostitute themselves
to
their gods and cause
your sons to
do
the same
.
You shall make no cast
idols
for yourselves.
You shall make no molten
gods
for yourselves.
"
You shall
keep the feast of unleavened bread. Seven days you shall
eat unleavened bread ,
as I commanded you ,
at
the
time
appointed
in
the
month
Abib;
for in the month Abib you came out from
Egypt.
You are
to
keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread. For
seven days at
the
appointed
time
in
the
month
of
Abib,
you are
to
eat unleavened bread as I commanded you .
For in the month of
Abib you came out of
Egypt.
All
that
opens
the womb is
mine;
and
all
your
cattle
that
is
male
, the firstborn of
cow
and
sheep.
The first
offspring
of
every
womb belongs
to
Me
, including
all
the firstborn males
among
your
livestock,
whether
cattle
or
sheep.
The firstborn of a donkey you
shall
redeem
with a lamb :
and
if you will
not redeem it, then
you shall
break its neck. All the firstborn of your sons you
shall
redeem
. No one shall appear before me empty.
You
must
redeem
the firstborn of a donkey with a lamb ;
but
if you do
not redeem it, you are
to
break its neck. You
must
redeem
all the firstborn of your sons. No one shall appear before Me empty -handed
.
Six days you shall work
, but on the seventh day you shall rest :
in plowing time
and in
harvest
you shall
rest.
Six days you shall labor
, but on the seventh day you shall rest ;
even
in the
seasons
of
plowing and harvesting,
you must
rest.
You shall
observe
the feast of weeks with the first
fruits
of wheat harvest, and the feast of harvest
at the year's
end
.
And
you are
to
celebrate
the Feast of Weeks with the firstfruits
of the
wheat harvest, and the Feast of Ingathering
at the turn
of
the
year
.
Three times in
the
year all your males shall
appear before the Lord Yahweh
, the God of Israel.
Three times a
year all your males are
to
appear before the Lord GOD
, the God of Israel.
For I will drive out nations before you and enlarge your borders ;
neither
shall
any
man
desire
your land when you go up to appear before Yahweh,
your God ,
three
times
in
the
year
.
For I will drive out the
nations before you and enlarge your borders ,
and
no
one
will
covet
your land when you go up three
times
a
year
to appear before the
LORD
your God.
"You
shall
not offer the blood of my
sacrifice with leavened bread;
neither
shall
the
sacrifice
of the feast
of
the Passover be
left
to
the
morning.
Do
not offer the blood of a
sacrifice to
Me
along
with anything
leavened ,
and
do
not
let
any
of the sacrifice
from
the Passover Feast
remain
until
morning.
You
shall
bring the first
of the first
fruits
of your ground
to the house of Yahweh
your God. You shall
not boil
a young goat in its mother's
milk. "
Bring the best
of the firstfruits
of your soil
to the house of the
LORD
your God. You must
not cook
a young goat in its mother’s
milk. ”
Yahweh
said to Moses, "
Write you
these words :
for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel. "
The
LORD
also
said to Moses, “
Write down
these words ,
for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel. ”
He
was there with Yahweh
forty days and forty nights ;
he
neither
ate
bread ,
nor
drank
water. He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant ,
the ten commandments.
So
Moses
was there with the
LORD
forty days and forty nights without
eating
bread or
drinking
water. He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant —
the Ten Commandments.
It
happened,
when Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the testimony in Moses'
hand
, when
he came
down
from
the
mountain,
that
Moses
didn't
know
that the
skin
of
his face shone
by
reason
of
his
speaking with him
.
And
when Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the Testimony in his
hands
, he was
unaware
that his face had
become
radiant
from
speaking with the
LORD
.
When
Aaron and all the children
of
Israel
saw
Moses, behold, the
skin
of
his face shone;
and they were afraid to come
near
him.
Aaron and all the Israelites
looked
at
Moses, and
behold, his face was
radiant.
And they were afraid to approach
him.
Moses called to them ,
and
Aaron and all the rulers
of the congregation returned to him ;
and Moses spoke to them.
But
Moses called out
to them ;
so
Aaron and all the leaders
of the congregation returned to him ,
and Moses spoke to them.
Afterward
all the children
of
Israel
came near, and he
gave
them all
of
the
commandments
that Yahweh
had spoken
with
him on Mount Sinai.
And
after
this
all the Israelites
came near, and Moses
commanded
them to
do
everything
that the
LORD
had told
him on Mount Sinai.
When Moses was
done
speaking with them, he put a veil on
his face.
When Moses had
finished
speaking with them, he put a veil over
his face.
But when
Moses went in before Yahweh
to speak with him, he took
the veil off,
until he came out ;
and he came out, and
spoke
to
the children
of
Israel
that
which
he was
commanded .
But whenever
Moses went in before the
LORD
to speak with Him, he would
remove
the veil until he came out .
And when
he came out, he
would
tell
the Israelites
what
he had
been
commanded ,
The children
of
Israel
saw
Moses'
face,
that the skin
of Moses '
face
shone:
and
Moses put the veil on
his face again,
until he went in to speak with him
.
and
the Israelites
would
see
that the face
of Moses was
radiant.
So
Moses would
put the veil back
over
his face until he went in to speak with the
LORD
.
