Then
the
LORD
said to
Moses, “Chisel
out
two stone tablets
like the originals,
and I will write on
them
the words that were on the first tablets
, which you
broke
.
And
Jehovah
said unto
Moses, Hew
thee
two tables
of
stone like unto
the first:
and I will write upon
the tables
the
words that were on the first tables
, which thou
brakest
.
Be ready in
the morning, and come up on
Mount Sinai to
present yourself
before
Me on the mountaintop
.
And
be ready by
the morning, and come up in
the
morning
unto
mount Sinai ,
and
present thyself
there
to
me on the top
of
the
mount
.
No one
may
go
up with you
; in
fact,
no
one
may
be seen anywhere
on
the mountain—not
even
the flocks or
herds may
graze
in
front
of
the
mountain
. ”
And
no man
shall
come
up with thee
; neither
let
any
man
be seen throughout
all
the mount;
neither
let
the flocks nor
herds feed
before
that
mount
.
So
Moses
chiseled
out
two stone tablets
like the originals.
He
rose early in the morning, and taking
the
two
stone
tablets
in
his
hands,
he
went up Mount Sinai as the
LORD
had commanded him.
And
he
hewed
two tables
of
stone like unto
the first;
and
Moses
rose up
early in the morning, and went up unto
mount Sinai ,
as Jehovah
had commanded him ,
and
took
in
his
hand
two
tables
of
stone
.
And the
LORD
descended in a
cloud, stood with him there, and proclaimed His
name,
the LORD
.
And Jehovah
descended in the
cloud, and
stood with him there, and proclaimed the name
of
Jehovah
.
Then
the
LORD
passed in
front
of
Moses
and called
out:
“The
LORD
, the
LORD
God
, is
compassionate
and gracious, slow to anger, abounding
in loving
devotion
and faithfulness
,
And
Jehovah
passed by
before
him,
and proclaimed
, Jehovah
, Jehovah,
a
God
merciful
and gracious, slow to anger, and
abundant
in lovingkindness
and truth
,
maintaining
loving
devotion
to
a
thousand
generations
, forgiving iniquity ,
transgression ,
and sin .
Yet
He
will by no means leave
the guilty unpunished;
He
will
visit
the iniquity of the fathers on
their
children and grandchildren
to
the third and fourth generations
. ”
keeping
lovingkindness
for
thousands
, forgiving iniquity and
transgression and sin ;
and
that
will by no means clear
`
the guilty ',
visiting
the iniquity of the fathers upon
the
children ,
and upon
the children's
children,
upon
the
third and upon
the
fourth generation
.
Moses immediately
bowed down
to
the ground
and worshiped
.
And
Moses made
haste,
and
bowed his
head
toward
the earth,
and worshipped
.
“O
Lord,”
he said, “
if I have indeed
found favor in Your
sight, my
Lord, please
go with
us .
Although
this
is a stiff-necked
people ,
forgive
our iniquity and sin, and take us as
Your
inheritance. ”
And
he said, If now
I have found favor in thy
sight, O
Lord, let
the
Lord,
I
pray
thee,
go in
the
midst
of
us ;
for
it
is a stiffnecked
people ;
and
pardon
our iniquity and our
sin, and take us for
thine
inheritance.
And the
LORD
said, “
Behold, I am
making
a covenant .
Before all your
people I will perform
wonders
that
have never
been done
in
any
nation
in all the world.
All the people among whom
you
live
will
see the LORD’s
work ,
for it is an
awesome
thing that I am
doing
with you
.
And he
said, Behold, I make
a covenant :
before all thy
people I will do
marvels,
such
as
have not
been wrought
in all the earth,
nor
in
any
nation;
and
all the people among which
thou
art
shall
see the work of
Jehovah;
for it is a
terrible
thing that I do
with thee
.
Observe what
I command you
this day .
I will
drive out before you
the Amorites
, Canaanites
, Hittites
, Perizzites
, Hivites
, and Jebusites
.
Observe thou
that
which
I command thee
this day :
behold,
I drive out before thee
the Amorite
, and
the
Canaanite
, and
the
Hittite
, and
the
Perizzite
, and
the
Hivite
, and the
Jebusite
.
Be
careful
not
to make a treaty
with the inhabitants of the land you
are
entering
, lest they
become
a snare in your
midst .
Take
heed
to thyself,
lest
thou
make a covenant
with the inhabitants of the land whither
thou
goest
, lest it
be
for
a snare in the
midst of
thee:
Rather,
you
must
tear
down their altars, smash
their sacred
stones
, and chop
down their Asherah
poles.
but
ye
shall
break
down their altars, and
dash
in
pieces
their pillars
, and ye
shall
cut
down their Asherim;
For you
must
not
worship any
other god ,
for the
LORD
, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God .
for thou
shalt
worship no
other god :
for Jehovah
, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God :
Do
not
make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, for
when
they prostitute
themselves
to
their gods and sacrifice to
them,
they
will
invite
you
, and you
will
eat their
sacrifices.
lest
thou
make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and
they play
the
harlot
after
their gods ,
and sacrifice unto
their
gods
, and one
call
thee
and
thou
eat of
his
sacrifice;
And when
you
take some
of their daughters as
brides
for
your
sons, their daughters will
prostitute
themselves
to
their gods and cause
your
sons to
do
the same
.
and thou
take of their daughters unto
thy
sons, and
their daughters play
the
harlot
after
their gods ,
and make
thy
sons play
the harlot
after
their
gods
.
You
shall
make no molten gods for
yourselves
.
Thou
shalt
make thee
no molten gods.
You
are
to
keep
the Feast of Unleavened Bread. For
seven days at the appointed
time in the month of
Abib ,
you
are
to
eat
unleavened
bread
as
I
commanded
you.
For in the month of
Abib you
came
out of
Egypt.
The feast of unleavened bread shalt
thou
keep
. Seven days thou
shalt
eat
unleavened
bread,
as
I
commanded
thee,
at the time appointed
in the month Abib ;
for in the month Abib thou
camest
out from
Egypt.
The first
offspring
of
every
womb belongs
to
Me,
including
all the
firstborn
males
among
your
livestock,
whether
cattle or
sheep.
All
that
openeth
the womb is
mine;
and
all thy
cattle that
is
male,
the
firstlings
of
cow
and
sheep.
You
must
redeem
the firstborn
of a
donkey
with a lamb ;
but
if you
do
not redeem it, you
are
to
break its neck. You
must
redeem
all the firstborn
of your
sons. No
one
shall appear before Me empty -handed
.
And
the firstling
of an
ass
thou
shalt
redeem
with a lamb :
and
if thou
wilt
not redeem it, then
thou
shalt
break its neck. All the first-born
of thy
sons thou
shalt
redeem
. And
none
shall appear before me empty.
Six days you
shall
labor
, but on the seventh day you
shall
rest ;
even
in the
seasons
of
plowing and harvesting,
you
must
rest.
Six days thou
shalt
work
, but on the seventh day thou
shalt
rest :
in plowing time
and in
harvest
thou
shalt
rest.
And you
are
to
celebrate
the Feast of Weeks with
the
firstfruits
of the wheat harvest, and the Feast of Ingathering at the turn
of
the
year
.
And thou
shalt
observe
the feast of weeks ,
`even'
of the first-fruits
of
wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the year's
end
.
Three times a
year all your
males are
to
appear before the Lord GOD
, the God of Israel.
Three times in
the
year shall
all thy
males appear before the Lord Jehovah
, the God of Israel.
For I will drive
out the
nations before you
and enlarge your
borders ,
and
no
one
will
covet
your
land when you
go
up three
times
a
year
to appear before the
LORD
your
God.
For I will cast
out nations before thee,
and enlarge thy
borders :
neither
shall
any
man
desire
thy
land ,
when thou
goest
up to appear before Jehovah
thy
God three
times
in
the
year
.
Do
not offer the blood of a
sacrifice to
Me
along
with anything
leavened ,
and
do
not
let
any
of
the sacrifice from
the Passover
Feast remain
until
morning.
Thou
shalt
not offer the blood of my
sacrifice with leavened bread;
neither
shall
the sacrifice of
the feast of
the
passover
be
left
unto
the
morning.
Bring
the best
of the firstfruits
of your
soil
to
the house of the
LORD
your
God. You
must
not cook
a young
goat
in its mother’s
milk. ”
The first
of the first-fruits
of thy
ground
thou
shalt
bring
unto
the house of Jehovah
thy
God. Thou
shalt
not boil
a kid
in its mother's
milk.
The
LORD
also
said to
Moses, “
Write down
these words ,
for in
accordance
with
these words I have made a covenant with you
and with Israel. ”
And
Jehovah
said unto
Moses, Write thou
these words :
for after
the
tenor
of
these words I have made a covenant with thee
and with Israel.
So
Moses
was there with the
LORD
forty days and forty nights without
eating
bread or
drinking
water. He wrote on
the tablets
the words of the covenant —
the Ten Commandments.
And
he
was there with Jehovah
forty days and forty nights ;
he
did
neither
eat
bread ,
nor
drink
water. And
he wrote upon
the tables
the words of the covenant ,
the ten commandments.
And when Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets
of the Testimony in his
hands
, he was
unaware
that his face had
become
radiant
from
speaking with the
LORD
.
And it
came
to
pass,
when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables
of the testimony in Moses'
hand
, when
he came
down
from
the
mount,
that Moses
knew
not
that
the
skin
of
his face shone
by
reason
of
his
speaking with him
.
Aaron and all the Israelites
looked
at
Moses, and
behold, his face was
radiant.
And they were afraid to approach
him.
And
when
Aaron and all the children
of
Israel
saw
Moses, behold, the
skin
of
his face shone;
and they were afraid to come
nigh
him.
But
Moses called out
to
them; so
Aaron and all the leaders
of the congregation returned to
him ,
and Moses spoke
to them.
And
Moses called unto
them; and
Aaron and all the rulers
of the congregation returned unto
him :
and Moses spake
to them.
And after
this
all the Israelites
came near,
and Moses
commanded
them to
do
everything
that the
LORD
had told
him on
Mount Sinai.
And afterward
all the children
of
Israel
came nigh:
and he
gave
them in
commandment
all
that Jehovah
had spoken
with
him in
mount Sinai.
When Moses had finished
speaking with them, he put a veil over
his face.
And
when Moses had done
speaking with them, he put a veil on
his face.
But whenever
Moses went in before the
LORD
to speak with Him, he would
remove
the veil until he came out .
And when
he came out, he
would
tell
the Israelites
what
he had
been
commanded ,
But when
Moses went in before Jehovah
to speak with him, he took
the veil off,
until he came out ;
and he came out, and
spake
unto
the children
of
Israel
that
which
he was
commanded .
and the Israelites
would
see
that
the face of Moses was
radiant.
So
Moses would
put the veil back
over
his face until he went in to speak with the
LORD
.
And the children
of
Israel
saw
the face of Moses ,
that
the
skin
of
Moses '
face
shone:
and
Moses
put the veil upon
his face again,
until he went in to speak with him
.
