Then
the
LORD
said
to
Moses,
And
Jehovah
spake
unto
Moses, saying,
“Tell
the Israelites
to
turn back and encamp before Pi-hahiroth
, between Migdol and the sea .
You
are
to
encamp
by
the
sea
, directly
opposite
Baal-zephon.
Speak
unto
the children
of
Israel,
that
they
turn back and encamp before Pihahiroth
, between Migdol and the sea, before
Baal-zephon :
over
against
it
shall
ye
encamp
by
the
sea
.
For
Pharaoh will say of the Israelites
, ‘
They are wandering
the land in
confusion;
the wilderness has
boxed
them in. ’
And
Pharaoh will say of the children
of
Israel
, They are entangled
in
the land ,
the wilderness hath
shut
them in.
And I will harden Pharaoh’s
heart so
that
he will
pursue
them .
But
I will gain
honor by
means
of
Pharaoh and all his army,
and the Egyptians will
know that I am the
LORD
. ”
So
this
is
what
the
Israelites
did.
And I will harden Pharaoh's
heart ,
and
he shall
follow
after
them ;
and
I will get
me
honor upon
Pharaoh ,
and upon
all his host:
and the Egyptians shall
know that I am Jehovah
. And
they
did so
.
When
the king of Egypt was
told
that the people had
fled ,
Pharaoh and his officials
changed their
minds
about
them
and said, “
What have
we done ?
We have released
Israel from serving us .”
And
it
was
told
the king of Egypt that the people were
fled :
and
the
heart
of
Pharaoh and of
his servants
was
changed towards
the
people,
and they
said, What is
this
we have
done ,
that
we have let
Israel go
from serving us ?
So
Pharaoh
prepared
his chariot and took his army
with him .
And
he
made
ready
his chariot ,
and took his people
with him :
He took 600
of
the
best
chariots, and all the other
chariots of Egypt, with
officers
over all of them.
and
he took six
hundred
chosen
chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and
captains
over all of them.
And the
LORD
hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt so
that
he pursued the Israelites,
who
were
marching
out defiantly
.
And Jehovah
hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt ,
and
he pursued after
the children
of
Israel:
for
the
children
of
Israel
went
out with
a
high
hand
.
The Egyptians —
all Pharaoh’s
horses and chariots, horsemen and troops—pursued
the
Israelites
and overtook them as
they
camped
by the sea near
Pi-hahiroth
, opposite
Baal-zephon.
And
the Egyptians pursued
after
them,
all the
horses `
and '
chariots of
Pharaoh
, and
his
horsemen ,
and his
army,
and overtook them encamping
by the sea, beside
Pihahiroth,
before
Baal-zephon.
As
Pharaoh approached
, the Israelites
looked
up and saw
the Egyptians marching after them ,
and they were terrified
and cried out to
the
LORD
.
And
when
Pharaoh drew
nigh
, the children
of
Israel
lifted
up their
eyes,
and ,
behold,
the Egyptians were
marching after them ;
and they were sore
afraid:
and the
children
of
Israel
cried out unto
Jehovah
.
They said to
Moses, “Was
it
because there were no graves in Egypt that
you
brought
us into
the
wilderness
to die? What
have
you
done
to
us by
bringing
us out of Egypt?
And
they said unto
Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt ,
hast
thou
taken
us away
to die in
the
wilderness
? wherefore
hast
thou
dealt
thus
with
us ,
to
bring
us forth
out of Egypt?
Did
we
not say
to
you
in Egypt, ‘Leave
us alone so
that we may serve the Egyptians ’
? For it would
have
been
better for us to serve the Egyptians than to
die in the wilderness. ”
Is
not this
the
word
that
we
spake
unto
thee
in Egypt, saying,
Let
us alone ,
that we may serve the Egyptians? For it were
better for us to serve the Egyptians ,
than that
we
should
die in the wilderness.
But
Moses told
the people, “Do
not be
afraid.
Stand firm
and you
will
see the LORD’s
salvation, which He will accomplish
for you today;
for the Egyptians you
see
today
, you
will
never
see again.
And
Moses said
unto
the people, Fear
ye
not ,
stand still,
and see the salvation of
Jehovah
, which he will work
for you to-day:
for the Egyptians whom
ye
have
seen
to-day
, ye
shall
see them
again no
more
for
ever
.
The
LORD
will fight for you ;
you
need
only
to
be
still
. ”
Jehovah
will fight for you ,
and
ye
shall
hold
your
peace
.
Then
the
LORD
said to
Moses, “Why
are
you
crying
out
to
Me? Tell
the Israelites
to
go forward.
And
Jehovah
said unto
Moses, Wherefore
criest
thou
unto
me? speak
unto
the children
of
Israel,
that
they
go forward.
And as
for
you,
lift up your
staff
and stretch out your
hand over the sea and divide it ,
so
that
the Israelites
can
go through
the sea on dry ground.
And lift thou
up thy
rod,
and stretch out thy
hand over the sea ,
and divide it :
and
the children
of
Israel
shall
go into
the midst
of
the
sea on dry ground.
And I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so
that
they will
go in after them .
Then
I will gain
honor by
means
of
Pharaoh and all his army
and
chariots and horsemen.
And I ,
behold,
I
will harden the hearts of the Egyptians ,
and
they shall
go in after them :
and
I will get
me
honor upon
Pharaoh ,
and upon
all his host,
upon
his
chariots ,
and upon
his
horsemen.
The Egyptians will
know that I am the
LORD
when I am
honored
through
Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen. ”
And
the Egyptians shall
know that I am Jehovah,
when I have
gotten
me
honor
upon
Pharaoh, upon
his chariots, and upon
his horsemen.
And the angel of God, who had
gone
before the camp of Israel, withdrew
and went behind them .
The pillar of cloud also
moved
from before them and stood behind them ,
And the angel of God, who went
before the camp of Israel, removed
and went behind them ;
and
the pillar of cloud removed
from before them ,
and stood behind them :
so
that
it came between the camps
of Egypt and Israel .
The cloud was
there
in
the darkness, but
it lit
up
the
night.
So
all
night long
neither
camp
went
near the other.
and
it came between the camp
of Egypt and the
camp
of
Israel ;
and
there
was
the cloud and
the darkness, yet
gave
it light
by
night :
and
the
one
came
not
near the other all
the
night
.
Then
Moses stretched out his hand over the sea ,
and all
that
night
the
LORD
drove
back
the sea with
a strong east wind that
turned
it
into
dry land .
So
the waters were divided ,
And
Moses stretched out his hand over the sea ;
and Jehovah
caused
the sea to
go
`back'
by
a strong east wind all
the
night,
and
made
the
sea
dry land ,
and
the waters were divided .
and the Israelites
went through
the sea on
dry ground ,
with
walls
of
water
on their right and on their left.
And the children
of
Israel
went into
the midst
of
the
sea upon
the
dry ground :
and
the
waters
were
a
wall
unto
them
on their right hand,
and on their left.
And the Egyptians chased
after them —
all Pharaoh’s
horses, chariots, and horsemen —and
followed
them
into
the
sea
.
And the Egyptians pursued,
and
went
in
after them into
the
midst
of
the
sea,
all Pharaoh's
horses, his
chariots, and his
horsemen.
At
morning watch, however,
the
LORD
looked down
on
the army
of the Egyptians from
the pillar of fire and cloud, and He
threw
their
camp
into
confusion
.
And
it
came
to
pass
in
the
morning watch, that
Jehovah
looked forth
upon
the host
of the Egyptians through
the pillar of fire and of
cloud, and discomfited
the
host
of
the
Egyptians
.
He caused
their chariot wheels to
wobble
, so that they
had
difficulty
driving.
“
Let us flee from the Israelites,”
said
the
Egyptians,
“
for the
LORD
is
fighting
for them against Egypt!”
And
he took
off
their chariot wheels, and
they
drove
them
heavily;
so that the
Egyptians
said,
Let us flee from the face
of
Israel;
for Jehovah
fighteth
for them against the
Egyptians.
Then
the
LORD
said to
Moses, “
Stretch out your
hand over the sea, so
that the waters may flow
back
over
the Egyptians and
their chariots and horsemen. ”
And
Jehovah
said unto
Moses, Stretch out thy
hand over the sea, that the waters may come
again
upon
the Egyptians ,
upon
their chariots ,
and upon
their
horsemen.
So
Moses stretched out
his hand over the sea, and at
daybreak
the sea returned to its normal
state.
As
the Egyptians were
retreating,
the LORD
swept
them
into
the sea.
And
Moses stretched forth
his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its strength
when
the morning
appeared;
and
the
Egyptians fled
against
it;
and
Jehovah
overthrew
the Egyptians
in
the midst
of
the
sea.
The waters flowed
back
and covered the chariots and horsemen —
the entire
army
of Pharaoh that had
chased
the
Israelites
into the sea .
Not one of them survived
.
And
the waters returned,
and covered the chariots ,
and the
horsemen ,
even
all
the host
of Pharaoh that went
in
after
them
into the sea ;
there
remained
not so
much
as
one of them.
But the Israelites
had
walked through
the
sea
on
dry ground,
with
walls
of water
on their right and on their left.
But the children
of
Israel
walked upon
dry land
in
the
midst
of the
sea;
and
the
waters
were
a
wall
unto
them
on their right hand,
and on their left.
That
day
the
LORD
saved Israel from
the hand of the Egyptians ,
and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on
the shore.
Thus
Jehovah
saved Israel that
day
out
of
the hand of the Egyptians ;
and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon
the sea-
shore.
When
Israel saw the great power
that
the
LORD
had
exercised
over
the Egyptians, the people feared the
LORD
and believed in Him
and in His servant Moses.
And
Israel saw the great work
which
Jehovah
did
upon
the Egyptians, and
the people feared Jehovah:
and they
believed in Jehovah,
and in his servant Moses.
