Call
upon
you
, then, do
I --
the
prisoner
of
the
Lord
--
to walk worthily
of the calling with
which
ye
were
called,
As
a
prisoner
in
the
Lord
, then, I urge
you
to walk in
a
manner
worthy
of the calling you
have
received:
with all lowliness
and meekness
, with long-suffering
, forbearing
one another in love,
with all humility
and gentleness
, with patience
, bearing
with
one another in love,
being
diligent
to keep
the unity of the Spirit in
the bond of the
peace ;
and
with
diligence
to preserve
the unity of the Spirit through
the bond of peace .
one body and one Spirit, according
as also
ye
were called in
one hope of
your
calling
;
There
is
one body and one Spirit, just
as you
were called to
one hope when
you
were
called
;
one Lord, one faith, one baptism ,
one Lord, one faith, one baptism ;
one God and Father of all, who `
is '
over all ,
and through all ,
and in you
all ,
one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all .
and
to each one of you
was
given
the
grace ,
according to the measure of the gift of Christ ,
Now
to each one of us
grace has
been
given
according to the measure of the gift of Christ .
wherefore,
he saith,
`Having
gone
up
on high he led captive
captivity
, and gave gifts to men ,'
--
This
is
why
it
says:
“When
He ascended
on high ,
He led captives
away
, and gave gifts to men .”
and
that,
he went
up
, what
is
it
except that he also went
down
first
to the lower parts of the earth?
What
does
“
He ascended”
mean
, except that He also descended
to the lower parts of the earth?
he who went
down
is the same
also
who went
up
far
above all the heavens, that
He
may
fill all things --
He who descended
is the very
One
who ascended
above all the heavens, in
order
to
fill all things .
and He gave some `as'
apostles, and
some `as'
prophets, and
some `as'
proclaimers
of
good
news
, and some `as'
shepherds
and teachers,
And it
was
He who
gave some to
be
apostles, some to
be
prophets, some to
be
evangelists
, and some to
be
pastors
and teachers,
unto
the
perfecting
of
the saints ,
for a
work
of ministration,
for
a
building
up of
the body of the
Christ,
to
equip
the saints for works
of ministry
and
to
build
up the body of Christ,
till
we may
all come
to
the
unity of
the faith and of
the recognition
of the Son of God, to
a
perfect
man,
to a
measure of stature
of
the fulness
of the
Christ ,
until
we all reach
unity in
the faith and in
the knowledge
of the Son of God, as
we
mature
to the
full
measure of the stature
of Christ .
that
we may
no more
be babes
, tossed and
borne
about by every wind of the
teaching ,
in
the sleight
of men ,
in craftiness,
unto
the
artifice
of
leading
astray,
Then
we will
no longer
be infants
, tossed about by the
waves
and
carried
around
by
every wind of teaching and
by
the clever
cunning
of men in their
deceitful
scheming.
and
, being
true
in love, we may
increase
to
Him
`
in '
all things, who is the head --
the
Christ;
Instead
, speaking
the
truth
in love, we will
in all things grow
up
into
Christ
Himself
, who is the head .
from whom
the whole body, being
fitly
joined
together
and united,
through
the
supply
of
every joint
, according
to
the
working
in the measure
of each single
part ,
the
increase
of
the
body
doth
make
for
the
building
up
of
itself
in
love
.
From Him
the whole body, fitted
and held
together
by
every supporting
ligament
, grows
and
builds
itself
up
in love
through
the work
of each individual
part.
This,
then,
I say
, and I
testify
in the Lord ;
ye
are
no more
to
walk ,
as also
the other
nations
walk
, in the vanity
of their mind,
So
I tell
you
this
, and insist
on
it
in the Lord ,
that
you
must
no longer
walk as the Gentiles
do
, in the futility
of their thinking.
being
darkened in the
understanding ,
being
alienated from the life of God ,
because of the ignorance that is in them ,
because
of
the hardness of their heart,
They
are
darkened in their
understanding and
alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due
to
the hardness of their hearts.
who,
having ceased
to
feel
, themselves did
give
up
to the
lasciviousness,
for the working
of all
uncleanness
in
greediness;
Having lost
all
sense
of
shame
, they
have
given
themselves over
to sensuality
for the practice
of every
kind
of
impurity,
with
a
craving
for
more.
and
ye
did
not so
learn
the Christ ,
But
this
is
not the way
you
came
to
know
Christ .
if
so
be
ye
did
hear
him ,
and in
him
were taught ,
as
truth is in Jesus ;
Surely
you
heard
of
Him and were taught in
Him—in
keeping
with
the
truth that
is in Jesus —
ye
are
to put off concerning
the
former behaviour
the
old man
, that
is corrupt
according
to
the
desires of
the
deceit,
to put off your
former way
of
life,
your
old self
, which
is being
corrupted
by
its
deceitful
desires ;
and
to be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
to be renewed in the spirit of your minds;
and to put on the new man,
which
, according
to God ,
was
created
in righteousness and kindness
of
the
truth
.
and to put on the new self
, created
to be
like
God in true
righteousness and holiness
.
Wherefore,
putting
away
the
lying,
speak
truth
each with
his neighbour
, because
we are members one
of another ;
Therefore
each of
you
must
put
off
falsehood
and
speak
truthfully
to
his neighbor
, for
we are all
members of one
another .
be angry and
do not sin ;
let
not the sun go
down
upon your wrath
,
“
Be angry ,
yet
do not sin .”
Do
not let
the sun set
upon your anger
,
neither
give place
to
the devil ;
and
do
not
give the devil a
foothold.
whoso
is
stealing let
him
no
more
steal, but rather
let
him
labour
, working
the
thing
that
is
good with the
hands, that he may have to
impart
to him
having
need.
He
who
has
been
stealing must
steal no
longer
, but must
work
, doing
good with his
own
hands, that he may have something
to share
with
the
one
in
need.
Let no corrupt
word
out of your mouth
go
forth
, but what is good
unto
the
needful
building up ,
that
it
may
give
grace to the
hearers;
Let no unwholesome
talk
come
out of your mouths
, but only
what is helpful
for
building up the
one
in
need
and
bringing
grace to those
who
listen.
and make
not sorrowful
the Holy Spirit of God, in which
ye
were sealed to
a
day of redemption.
And do
not grieve
the Holy Spirit of God, in whom
you
were sealed for
the
day of redemption.
Let
all bitterness, and
wrath,
and anger, and
clamour,
and evil-speaking,
be
put
away
from
you
, with all
malice ,
Get
rid
of
all bitterness, rage
and anger, outcry
and slander
, along
with every
form
of
malice .
and become
one
to another
kind,
tender-hearted,
forgiving
one another, according
as also
God
in Christ did
forgive
you.
Be
kind
and tenderhearted
to one another, forgiving
each
other
just
as in Christ God
forgave
you.
