out to meet us ,

people,

battle ,

Then
we turned
and went
up the road
to Bashan, and Og king of Bashan and
his
whole
army
came
out to meet us in
battle at
Edrei.
`And
Jehovah
saith
unto
me, Fear him not
, for into
thy
hand
I have given
him, and
all his people ,
and his land ,
and
thou
hast
done
to him as thou
hast
done
to Sihon king of the Amorite
who is
dwelling
in Heshbon.
But
the
LORD
said
to
me, “Do
not
fear him, for I have delivered
him into
your
hand
, along
with
all his people and his land .
Do
to him as you
did
to Sihon king of the Amorites,
who lived
in Heshbon. ”
`And
Jehovah
our God giveth
into
our
hands
also Og king of Bashan ,
and all
his people,
and
we smite
him
till
there
hath
not
been
left to
him
a
remnant;
So
the
LORD
our God also delivered
Og king of Bashan and his whole
army
into
our
hands.
We struck
them
down
until
no
survivor
was
left .
and
we capture
all his cities at
that
time,
there hath
not been
a city which
we have
not
taken
from
them,
sixty
cities,
all
the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.
At
that
time
we captured
all sixty
of
his cities .
There was
not a single
city we failed
to
take—
the entire
region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.
All these `are'
cities fenced
with high walls ,
two-leaved
doors
and bar
, apart
from
cities
of
villages
very
many ;
All these cities were
fortified
with high walls and gates
and
bars
, and
there
were
many more
unwalled
villages.
and
we devote
them, as we have
done to Sihon king of Heshbon, devoting
every
city,
men, the
women, and the
infants;
We devoted
them to
destruction
, as we had
done to Sihon king of Heshbon, utterly
destroying
the
men, women, and children
of
every
city.
and
all the cattle,
and the
spoil
of the cities ,
we have
spoiled
for ourselves.
But
all the livestock
and plunder
of the cities we carried
off
for ourselves.
`And
we
take,
at that time ,
the
land
out
of
the
hand
of
the two kings of the Amorite,
which
is
beyond
the Jordan, from the brook
Arnon unto
mount Hermon ;
At that time we
took
from
the two kings of the Amorites
the land
across
the
Jordan, from the Arnon Valley
as
far
as
Mount Hermon —
(
Sidonians call Hermon,
Sirion ;
and
the Amorites call it
Senir ,)
which
the
Sidonians call Sirion but
the Amorites call Senir —
all the cities of the plain
, and
all Gilead, and all Bashan ,
unto
Salchah
and
Edrei,
cities of the kingdom of Og in
Bashan,
all the cities of the plateau
, all of
Gilead, and all of
Bashan as
far
as
the
cities of Salecah
and
Edrei
in
the kingdom of Og .
for only Og king of Bashan had been
left
of the remnant of the Rephaim ;
lo,
his bedstead
`is'
a
bedstead
of iron ;
is
it
not
in
Rabbath
of
the
sons
of
Ammon?
nine cubits its
length,
and four cubits its
breadth
, by
the
cubit
of a
man
.

For only Og king of Bashan had remained
of the remnant of the Rephaim .
His bed
of iron ,
nine cubits long
and four cubits wide
, is
still
in
Rabbah
of the
Ammonites

`And
this
land
we
have
possessed,
at that time ;
from
Aroer ,
which
`is'
by
the brook
Arnon, and the
half of mount
Gilead, and
its cities ,
I
have
given
to
the
Reubenite,
and
to
the
Gadite;
So
at that time we
took
possession
of
this
land.
To
the
Reubenites
and
Gadites
I
gave
the
land
beyond
Aroer along
the Arnon Valley
, and half the
hill
country
of Gilead, along
with
its cities .
and
the rest of Gilead and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og ,
I
have
given
to
the
half
tribe
of
Manasseh;
all
the region of Argob, to
all
that
Bashan, called the land of Rephaim.
To
the half-tribe
of
Manasseh
I
gave
the
rest of Gilead and all of
Bashan, the kingdom of Og .

region of Argob, the
whole
territory
of
Bashan, used
to
be
called the land of the
Rephaim. )
`
Jair son
of Manasseh hath
taken
all
the region of Argob ,
unto
the border of Geshuri,
and
Maachathi,
and calleth
them
by
his
own
name,
Bashan -Havoth
-Jair, unto
this day.
Jair ,
a
descendant
of Manasseh ,
took
the whole
region of Argob as
far
as
the border of the
Geshurites
and Maacathites.
He
renamed
Bashan after
himself,
Havvoth
-jair, by
which
it
is
called
to
this day.
And
to Machir I have
given
Gilead .
To Machir I gave
Gilead ,
`
And to the Reubenite
and to
the
Gadite
I have
given
from Gilead even
unto
the brook
Arnon ,
the middle of the valley and
the border ,
even
unto
Jabbok
the brook
, the border of the sons
of
Ammon,
and to the Reubenites
and Gadites
I gave
the
territory
from Gilead to
the Arnon Valley
(
the middle of the valley was
the border )
and
up
to
the Jabbok
River
, the border of the Ammonites.
and
the plain,
and
the
Jordan ,
and
the border,
from Chinnereth even
unto
the sea of the plain,
the salt sea ,
under
the springs
of Pisgah ,
at
the `sun'-rising
.
The Jordan River
in
the Arabah
bordered
it
from Chinnereth to
the Sea of the Arabah
(
the Salt Sea )
with
the slopes
of Pisgah to
the east
.
`And
I
command
you,
at that time ,
saying,
Jehovah
your God hath
given to
you this land to possess it;
armed
ye
pass
over
before
your brethren
the
sons
of Israel
, all
the
sons
of might
.
At that time I
commanded
you:
“The
LORD
your God has
given you this land to possess .
All
your men
of valor
are
to
cross
over
, armed
for
battle,
ahead
of your
brothers,
the
Israelites
.
Only,
your wives, and
your infants
, and your cattle
--
I have
known
that ye
have much cattle
--
do
dwell
in your
cities which
I have given to
you,
But
your wives, your children
, and your livestock—
I know
that you
have much livestock—may
remain
in the
cities I have given you,
till
that
Jehovah
give
rest to your brethren
like
yourselves
, and they also
have possessed
the land which
Jehovah
your God is giving to
them beyond
the Jordan ,
then ye
have
turned
back
each to his
possession ,
which
I have given to
you.
until
the
LORD
gives
rest to your brothers
as
He
has
to
you
, and they too
have taken
possession
of
the land that
the
LORD
your God is giving them across
the Jordan .
Then each of
you
may
return
to the
possession I have given you. ”
`
And Jehoshua
I
have
commanded
at that time ,
saying,
Thine
eyes are
seeing
all that which
Jehovah
your God hath
done to these two kings --
so
doth
Jehovah
to all the kingdoms whither
thou
are passing
over;
And at that time I
commanded
Joshua:
“Your
own
eyes have
seen
all that the
LORD
your God has
done to these two kings .
The
LORD
will
do
the
same
to all the kingdoms you
are about
to
enter.
fear
them
not, for Jehovah
your God ,
He
is
fighting
for you.
Do
not be
afraid
of
them
, for the
LORD
your God Himself
will
fight
for you. ”
`And
I
entreat
for
grace
unto
Jehovah,
at that time ,
saying,
At that time I
also
pleaded
with
the
LORD:
Lord Jehovah
, Thou
--
Thou
hast
begun to shew
Thy
servant
Thy
greatness ,
and Thy
strong
hand;
for who
`is'
a
God in the
heavens
or in
earth who
doth
according
to
Thy
works ,
and according
to
Thy
might
?
“O
Lord GOD
, You
have
begun to show
Your
greatness and power
to
Your
servant.
For what
god in heaven
or on
earth can
perform
such
works and mighty
acts
as
Yours
?
Let me pass
over ,
I
pray
Thee,
and see the good land which
`is'
beyond the Jordan ,
this
good
hill -
country ,
and
Lebanon .
Please
let me cross
over and see the good land beyond the Jordan —that
pleasant
hill country as
well
as
Lebanon !”
`And
Jehovah
sheweth
himself
wroth
with me ,
for
your
sake
, and hath
not hearkened
unto
me, and
Jehovah
saith
unto
me ,
Enough
for
thee;
add
not to
speak unto
Me any
more
about this thing:
But
the
LORD
was
angry
with me on
account
of
you
, and He
would
not listen
to
me .
“That
is
enough
, ”
the
LORD
said
to
me .
“Do
not speak to
Me again
about this matter.
go up
`
to '
the top of Pisgah ,
and lift
up
thine
eyes
westward,
and
northward,
and southward,
and eastward,
and see with thine
eyes --
for thou
dost
not pass
over
this Jordan ;
Go to the top of Pisgah and look
to
the
west
and north
and south
and east.
See the
land
with your
own
eyes ,
for you
will
not cross
this Jordan .
and
charge
Jehoshua
, and
strengthen
him, and harden
him, for he doth
pass
over before
this
people ,
and he
doth
cause
them to inherit the land which
thou
seest
.
But
commission
Joshua
, encourage
him, and strengthen
him, for he will
cross
over ahead
of
the
people and enable
them to inherit the land that
you
will
see
. ”
`And
we dwell
in a
valley over-against
Beth-Peor.
So
we stayed
in the
valley opposite
Beth-peor.
