Then we turned and went up the road
to Bashan ,
and Og king of Bashan and
his
whole
army
came out to
meet
us in
battle at Edrei.
Then we turned ,
and went up the way
to Bashan :
and Og the
king of Bashan came out against
us ,
he
and
all
his
people,
to
battle at Edrei.
But
the
LORD
said to me, “Do
not
fear him ,
for I have delivered him into
your
hand
, along
with
all his people and his land .
Do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived in
Heshbon. ”
Yahweh
said to me, Don't
fear him ;
for I have delivered him, and
all his people ,
and his land ,
into
your
hand;
and
you
shall
do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived at
Heshbon.
So the
LORD
our God also
delivered Og king of Bashan and his whole
army
into
our
hands.
We struck them
down
until no
survivor
was left.
So Yahweh
our God delivered into
our
hand
Og also,
the
king of Bashan ,
and all
his people:
and
we struck him
until none
was left to
him
remaining
.
At
that
time
we captured
all sixty
of
his cities .
There was not a single
city we failed
to
take —
the entire
region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.
We took
all his cities at
that
time;
there was not a city which
we didn't
take from
them;
sixty
cities,
all
the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.
All these cities
were fortified with high walls and
gates and
bars
, and there
were
many
more
unwalled villages
.
All these were cities
fortified with high walls ,
gates, and bars;
besides
the
unwalled towns
a
great
many
.
We devoted
them to
destruction
, as we had
done
to Sihon king of Heshbon, utterly destroying the
men
, women ,
and children
of
every
city
.
We utterly
destroyed
them, as we did
to Sihon king of Heshbon, utterly destroying every
inhabited
city
, with
the
women and the
little
ones
.
But all the livestock
and plunder
of the cities we carried
off
for ourselves.
But all the cattle,
and the
spoil
of the cities ,
we took
for a
prey
to
ourselves.
At that time we
took
from
the two kings of the Amorites the
land
across
the Jordan, from the Arnon
Valley as
far
as
Mount Hermon —
We
took
the
land
at that time out
of
the hand
of
the
two kings of the Amorites who
were
beyond
the Jordan, from the valley of
the
Arnon
to
Mount Hermon ;
which the Sidonians call Sirion but
the Amorites call Senir —
([
which ]
Hermon
the Sidonians call Sirion ,
and
the Amorites call it
Senir ;)
all the cities of the plateau
, all of
Gilead, and all of
Bashan as
far
as
the
cities
of
Salecah and Edrei in
the kingdom of Og.
all the cities of the plain
, and
all Gilead, and all Bashan ,
to
Salecah and Edrei ,
cities
of
the kingdom of Og in
Bashan
.
(For only Og king of Bashan had
remained of the remnant of the Rephaim .
His bed
of iron ,
nine cubits long
and four cubits wide,
is
still
in
Rabbah
of the Ammonites
.)
(For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of the Rephaim ;
behold,
his bedstead
was
a
bedstead
of iron ;
isn't
it
in
Rabbah
of
the
children
of
Ammon?
nine cubits was
the
length
of
it,
and four cubits the
breadth
of it,
after
the cubit
of
a
man
.)
So
at
that
time
we took possession of
this
land.
To
the
Reubenites
and
Gadites
I
gave
the
land
beyond
Aroer along
the Arnon
Valley, and half the hill country of Gilead, along
with
its
cities .
This
land
we took in
possession at
that
time:
from
Aroer ,
which
is
by
the valley of
the
Arnon
, and half the hill -
country of Gilead, and
the
cities of
it,
gave
I
to
the
Reubenites
and
to
the
Gadites:
To
the
half-tribe
of
Manasseh
I
gave
the rest of Gilead and all of
Bashan, the kingdom of Og .
(
The entire
region of Argob, the
whole
territory
of
Bashan ,
used
to
be
called the land of the
Rephaim. )
and
the rest of Gilead ,
and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og ,
gave
I
to
the half-tribe
of
Manasseh;
all
the
region of Argob, even
all
Bashan .
(The
same
is
called the land of Rephaim.
Jair ,
a
descendant
of Manasseh ,
took the whole
region of Argob as
far
as
the border of the Geshurites and Maacathites .
He
renamed
Bashan after himself
, Havvoth -
jair, by
which
it
is
called
to this day.
Jair the
son
of Manasseh took all
the region of Argob ,
to
the border of the Geshurites and the
Maacathites ,
and
called
them,
even
Bashan ,
after his
own
name
, Havvoth Jair, to this day. )
To
Machir
I gave Gilead ,
I gave Gilead to
Machir.
and
to the Reubenites and Gadites I gave the
territory
from Gilead to the Arnon
Valley (
the middle of the valley was
the border )
and
up
to the Jabbok
River, the border of the Ammonites.
To the Reubenites and to
the
Gadites I gave from Gilead even
to the valley of
the Arnon,
the
middle of the valley ,
and
the border [of
it],
even
to the river Jabbok
, which
is
the border of the children
of
Ammon;
The Jordan River
in
the Arabah
bordered
it from Chinnereth to the Sea of the Arabah (
the Salt Sea )
with
the slopes of Pisgah to
the
east
.
the Arabah
also,
and
the
Jordan and
the border
[of
it ],
from Chinnereth even
to the sea of the Arabah ,
the Salt Sea ,
under
the slopes of Pisgah eastward
.
At
that
time
I commanded you :
“The
LORD
your God has given you this land to possess .
All
your
men
of
valor
are
to
cross
over ,
armed for
battle,
ahead
of
your brothers, the Israelites
.
I commanded you at
that
time,
saying,
Yahweh
your God has given you this land to possess it:
you
shall
pass
over armed before
your brothers the
children
of
Israel
, all
the men
of
valor
.
But your wives, your children
, and your livestock—
I know that you have much livestock—may
remain
in the
cities I have given you,
But your wives, and
your little
ones
, and your cattle,
(
I know that you have much cattle),
shall
abide
in your
cities which
I have given you,
until the
LORD
gives
rest to your brothers as He
has
to you, and they too
have
taken
possession
of
the land that
the
LORD
your God is
giving
them across
the Jordan .
Then each
of
you may
return to the
possession I have given you. ”
until Yahweh
give
rest to your brothers ,
as to you, and they also
possess
the land which
Yahweh
your God gives
them beyond
the Jordan :
then shall
you return every
man
to his
possession ,
which
I have given you.
And
at
that
time
I commanded Joshua :
“
Your own
eyes have seen all that the
LORD
your God has done to these two kings .
The
LORD
will
do the
same
to all the kingdoms you are
about
to
enter
.
I commanded Joshua at
that
time,
saying,
Your eyes have seen all that Yahweh
your God has done to these two kings :
so
shall
Yahweh
do to all the kingdoms where
you go
over
.
Do
not be
afraid
of
them ,
for the
LORD
your God Himself
will
fight
for you. ”
You
shall
not fear
them ;
for Yahweh
your God ,
he
it
is
who
fights
for you.
At that time I
also
pleaded
with
the
LORD:
I
begged
Yahweh
at that time ,
saying,
“O
Lord GOD
, You have begun to show Your greatness and power
to
Your servant.
For what god in heaven or on
earth can perform
such
works and mighty acts as
Yours
?
Lord Yahweh
, you have begun to show your servant
your
greatness ,
and your strong
hand:
for what god is
there
in heaven or in
earth ,
that
can do
according
to
your
works ,
and according
to
your
mighty acts?
Please let me cross
over and see the good land beyond the Jordan —
that pleasant
hill
country
as
well
as
Lebanon !”
Please let me go
over and see the good land that
is
beyond the Jordan ,
that goodly
mountain,
and
Lebanon .
But the
LORD
was angry with me on
account
of
you
, and He
would
not
listen to me .
“That
is
enough,”
the
LORD
said to me .
“Do
not
speak to Me again
about
this matter.
But Yahweh
was angry with me for
your
sakes
, and didn't
listen to me ;
and
Yahweh
said to me ,
Let
it
suffice
you;
speak no
more
to me of
this matter.
Go to the top of Pisgah and look
to
the
west
and north
and south
and east.
See the
land
with your own
eyes ,
for you will
not cross
this Jordan.
Go up
to the top of Pisgah ,
and lift
up
your
eyes
westward,
and northward,
and southward,
and eastward,
and
see with your eyes :
for you shall
not go
over
this Jordan.
But commission
Joshua, encourage him, and strengthen him ,
for he will
cross
over ahead
of
the
people and enable
them to inherit the land that
you will
see. ”
But charge
Joshua, and
encourage him, and strengthen him ;
for he shall
go
over before
this
people ,
and he
shall
cause
them to inherit the land which
you shall
see.
So we stayed
in the valley opposite
Beth -
peor.
So we abode
in the valley over
against
Beth Peor.
