And
when the day of Pentecost was
fully
come
, they were all with
one
accord
in one place.
When the day of Pentecost came
, they were all together
in one place.
And
suddenly there
came
a sound from
heaven
as
of
a rushing
mighty wind ,
and it
filled all
the house where they were sitting.
Suddenly a sound like
a mighty rushing
wind came
from
heaven
and filled the whole
house where they were sitting.
And
there
appeared
unto
them
cloven
tongues like as
of fire ,
and it
sat
upon
each of them.
They
saw
tongues like flames
of fire that
separated
and came
to
rest
on
each of them.
And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost,
and began to speak with
other tongues ,
as the Spirit gave
them utterance
.
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit
and began to speak in
other tongues as the Spirit enabled
them.
And
there were dwelling at
Jerusalem Jews ,
devout
men,
out
of
every nation under heaven.
Now
there were dwelling in
Jerusalem God-fearing
Jews from
every nation under heaven.
Now
when this was
noised
abroad
, the
multitude
came together ,
and
were
confounded
, because that
every
man
heard them speak
in
his own language.
And
when this sound
rang
out
, a
crowd
came together in
bewilderment
, because each
one
heard them speaking
his own language.
And they
were
all
amazed and
marvelled
, saying
one
to
another,
Behold
, are not all these which
speak
Galilaeans
?
Astounded
and amazed, they
asked
, “
Are not all these men
who
are
speaking
Galileans
?
And
how hear
we
every
man
in our
own tongue,
wherein
we
were
born
?
How is
it
then
that
each
of
us
hears
them
in his
own native
language
?
Parthians, and
Medes, and Elamites ,
and
the
dwellers
in
Mesopotamia, and
in
Judaea,
and Cappadocia, in
Pontus ,
and Asia,
Parthians, Medes, and Elamites ;
residents
of
Mesopotamia, Judea
and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,
Phrygia ,
and Pamphylia, in
Egypt ,
and in
the parts of Libya about
Cyrene ,
and
strangers
of
Rome, Jews
and
proselytes,
Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near
Cyrene ;
visitors
from
Rome,
Cretes
and Arabians,
we do
hear them speak
in
our
tongues
the wonderful
works
of God .
both
Jews
and converts
to
Judaism;
Cretans
and
Arabs—
we hear them declaring
the wonders
of God in
our
own
tongues!”
And
they
were
all
amazed,
and were
in
doubt
, saying
one to
another, What meaneth
this?
Astounded
and perplexed
, they
asked
one another, “
What does
this mean
? ”
Others mocking
said, These
men
are full
of
new wine .
But
others mocked
them
and
said, “They
are drunk
on
new wine !”
But
Peter ,
standing
up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said
unto
them,
Ye
men of Judaea,
and all ye
that
dwell at
Jerusalem, be
this known unto
you, and hearken
to my words :
Then
Peter stood
up with the Eleven, lifted up his voice, and addressed
the
crowd:
“
Men of Judea
and all who
dwell in
Jerusalem, let
this be
known to
you, and listen
carefully
to my words .
For
these are not drunken
, as ye
suppose ,
seeing
it is but
the third hour of the day .
These men
are not drunk
, as you
suppose .
It is only
the third hour of the day !
But
this is that
which
was spoken by the prophet Joel ;
No,
this is what
was spoken by the prophet Joel :
And
it
shall
come
to
pass
in the last days, saith
God, I will pour out of
my Spirit upon
all flesh:
and
your sons and your
daughters shall
prophesy, and
your young men shall
see visions, and
your old men shall
dream dreams :
‘
In the last days, God says
, I will pour out My Spirit on
all people.
Your sons and daughters will
prophesy, your young men will
see visions, your old men will
dream dreams .
And
on my servants
and on
my
handmaidens
I will pour out in those days of
my
Spirit;
and they shall
prophesy :
Even
on My menservants
and maidservants
I will pour out My
Spirit
in those days ,
and they will
prophesy .
And
I will shew
wonders in heaven
above ,
and signs in
the earth beneath;
blood
, and fire ,
and vapour
of smoke :
I will show
wonders in the
heavens
above and signs on
the earth below
, blood
and fire and billows
of smoke .
The sun shall
be turned into
darkness, and the moon into
blood, before the great and notable
day of the Lord come:
The sun will
be turned to
darkness, and the moon to
blood, before the coming
of
the
great and glorious
Day of the Lord .
And it
shall
come
to
pass,
that
whosoever
shall
call
on the name of the Lord shall
be saved.
And everyone
who
calls
on the name of the Lord will
be saved. ’
Ye
men of Israel, hear
these
words;
Jesus of Nazareth ,
a man approved
of
God among
you by miracles and
wonders and signs, which God did by
him
in
the
midst
of
you, as ye
yourselves also
know :
Men of Israel, listen
to
this
message:
Jesus of Nazareth was
a man certified
by
God to
you by miracles ,
wonders ,
and signs, which God did among
you through
Him
, as you
yourselves know .
Him,
being
delivered by the
determinate
counsel
and foreknowledge of
God
, ye
have
taken,
and by wicked
hands have
crucified
and
slain:
He
was
delivered up
by God’s
set
plan
and foreknowledge, and you,
by the
hands of
the
lawless,
put
Him
to
death
by
nailing
Him
to
the
cross.
Whom
God hath
raised up
, having
loosed
the pains
of death :
because it was not
possible
that
he
should
be holden
of
it
.
But
God raised Him
from
the
dead
, releasing
Him
from
the agony
of death ,
because it was impossible
for
Him
to
be held
in
its
clutches
.
For
David speaketh
concerning
him ,
I foresaw
the Lord always before my
face,
for
he is on
my right hand, that
I should
not be moved:
David says
about
Him :
‘
I saw
the Lord always before me;
because
He is at
my right hand, I will
not be shaken.
Therefore did
my heart rejoice,
and my tongue was
glad
; moreover
also
my flesh
shall
rest
in hope :
Therefore my heart is
glad
and my tongue rejoices
; my body
also
will
dwell
in hope ,
Because thou
wilt
not leave
my soul in
hell
, neither
wilt
thou
suffer
thine
Holy One to
see corruption
.
because You
will
not abandon
my soul to
Hades
, nor
will
You
let
Your
Holy One see decay
.
Thou
hast
made known to me the ways
of life; thou
shalt
make
me full
of
joy
with thy
countenance
.
You
have
made known to me the paths
of life; You
will
fill
me with joy
in
Your
presence
. ’
Men
and
brethren
, let
me
freely
speak
unto
you of
the patriarch David ,
that
he
is
both
dead
and buried, and his sepulchre
is with us unto
this day.
Brothers
, I
can
tell
you with
confidence
that
the patriarch David died
and was
buried, and his tomb
is with us to
this day.
Therefore
being
a prophet ,
and knowing
that God had sworn
with
an
oath
to
him ,
that of
the
fruit
of
his
loins,
according
to
the
flesh,
he would raise
up
Christ
to
sit
on his throne ;
But
he
was
a prophet and knew
that God had promised
him on
oath
that He would place
one
of
his
descendants
on his throne .
He
seeing
this before
spake
of
the resurrection of Christ, that his
soul
was not left
in
hell
, neither
his
flesh
did see corruption
.
Foreseeing
this ,
David
spoke
about
the resurrection of the
Christ, that He
was not abandoned
to
Hades
, nor
did His
body
see decay
.
This
Jesus
hath
God raised up
, whereof
we all
are witnesses.
God has
raised this
Jesus
to
life
, to
which
we are all
witnesses.
Therefore
being
by
the right hand of God exalted
, and
having
received of
the Father the promise
of
the
Holy Ghost,
he
hath
shed
forth
this,
which
ye
now see and hear.
Exalted,
then,
to
the right hand of God, He
has
received from
the Father the promised
Holy Spirit
and
has
poured
out
what
you
now see and hear.
For David is
not ascended
into the
heavens:
but he saith
himself ,
The Lord said unto
my Lord, Sit thou
on
my right hand ,
For David did
not ascend
into heaven,
but he himself says:
‘
The Lord said to
my Lord, “
Sit at
My right hand
Until I make thy
foes
thy
footstool.
until I make Your
enemies
a
footstool for
Your
feet
. ”’
Therefore let all the
house
of
Israel know assuredly,
that God hath
made the
same
Jesus, whom ye
have
crucified, both Lord and Christ .
Therefore let all Israel know with
certainty
that God has
made this
Jesus, whom you
crucified, both Lord and Christ !”
Now
when they
heard this, they were pricked
in
their
heart ,
and said
unto
Peter and to
the rest
of
the
apostles, Men
and
brethren
, what shall we do?
When the
people
heard this, they were cut
to
the
heart and asked
Peter and the other
apostles, “Brothers
, what shall we do? ”
Then
Peter said
unto
them
, Repent ,
and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission
of sins, and ye
shall
receive the gift of the Holy Ghost
.
Peter replied
, “
Repent and be baptized ,
every one of you ,
in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness
of your
sins, and you
will
receive the gift of the Holy Spirit
.
For
the
promise is
unto
you ,
and to
your children ,
and to all that
are afar
off ,
even
as
many
as
the LORD our God shall
call.
This
promise belongs
to
you and your children and to all who
are far
off —to
all
whom
the Lord our God will
call to
Himself
. ”
And
with many other words did
he testify
and
exhort
, saying
, Save
yourselves
from this untoward
generation.
With many other words he testified
, and
he
urged
them
, “Be
saved
from this corrupt
generation. ”
Then
they
that
gladly
received
his word
were baptized :
and the
same
day
there
were
added
unto
them
about three thousand souls
.
Those
who
embraced
his message
were baptized ,
and about three thousand were
added
to
the
believers
that
day
.
And
they continued
stedfastly
in
the apostles '
doctrine
and fellowship, and
in
breaking of bread ,
and in
prayers
.
They devoted
themselves
to
the apostles ’
teaching
and to
the
fellowship, to
the
breaking of bread and to
prayer
.
And
fear
came upon
every
soul:
and many wonders and signs were
done
by
the
apostles
.
A
sense
of
awe
came over
everyone,
and the
apostles
performed
many wonders and signs.
And
all that
believed
were together ,
and had all
things
common ;
All the
believers
were together and had everything
in
common .
And
sold
their possessions and goods, and
parted
them
to
all
men,
as
every
man
had
need.
Selling
their possessions and goods, they
shared
with
anyone
who
was
in
need.
And
they,
continuing
daily
with one accord in the temple ,
and breaking
bread from house to house, did
eat
their meat
with gladness and singleness
of heart,
With one accord they
continued
to
meet
daily
in the temple courts
and to
break
bread from house to house, sharing
their meals
with gladness and sincerity
of heart,
Praising God ,
and having
favour
with
all the people. And the Lord added to the
church
daily such
as
should
be
saved.
praising God and enjoying
the
favor
of
all the people. And the Lord added to their
number
daily those
who
were
being
saved.
