When
the uproar had
ended
, Paul sent for the disciples .
And after
encouraging
them, he
said
goodbye
to
them and left
for
Macedonia.
And
after
the uproar ceased
, Paul having
sent for the disciples and exhorted
them, took
leave
of
them ,
and departed
to
go
into
Macedonia.
After
traveling
through that
area
and speaking
many
words
of
encouragement
, he arrived
in
Greece ,
And
when
he
had
gone
through those
parts,
and had
given
them
much
exhortation
, he came
into
Greece .
where
he stayed
three months .
And when
the
Jews
formed
a plot against him as he was about to sail for Syria, he decided
to go
back
through Macedonia.
And
when
he had
spent
three months `there,'
and a plot was
laid
against him by
Jews
as he was about to set
sail for Syria, he determined
to return
through Macedonia.
Paul
was
accompanied by
Sopater son of Pyrrhus from
Berea
, Aristarchus and Secundus from
Thessalonica,
Gaius from
Derbe, Timothy ,
and Tychicus and Trophimus from
the
province
of
Asia
.
And
there
accompanied him
as
far
as
Asia,
Sopater of
Beroea,
`the
son '
of Pyrrhus ;
and
of
the
Thessalonians
, Aristarchus and Secundus ;
and
Gaius of
Derbe, and
Timothy ;
and of
Asia,
Tychicus and Trophimus.
These men
went
on
ahead
and waited
for us in
Troas.
But
these had
gone
before,
and were
waiting
for us at
Troas.
And after the Feast
of Unleavened Bread, we
sailed
from
Philippi,
and five
days
later
we
rejoined
them in
Troas, where we stayed
seven days.
And we
sailed
away
from
Philippi
after the days
of unleavened bread, and came
unto
them to
Troas in
five
days
, where we tarried
seven days.
On
the first day of the week we came
together to break bread .
Since
Paul was
ready
to
leave
the
next
day
, he
talked
to them
and
kept
on speaking
until midnight.
And
upon
the first day of the week ,
when
we were
gathered
together to break bread ,
Paul discoursed
with
them
, intending
to depart
on the
morrow;
and
prolonged
his
speech
until midnight.
Now
there were many lamps
in the upper room
where we were gathered.
And
there were many lights
in the upper chamber
where we were gathered together
.
And a certain young man named Eutychus, seated
in
the
window,
was
sinking
into
a
deep sleep as Paul talked
on
and
on.
When
he
was
sound
asleep
, he fell from the third story and was picked
up dead.
And there
sat
in
the
window
a certain young man named Eutychus, borne
down
with
deep sleep ;
and
as Paul discoursed
yet
longer
, being
borne
down
by
his
sleep
he fell down
from the third story ,
and was taken
up dead.
But
Paul went down, threw
himself
on the
young
man
, and embraced
him .
“Do
not
be
alarmed!”
he
said .
“He
is still
alive!”
And
Paul went down, and
fell
on him
, and embracing
him said ,
Make
ye
no
ado;
for
his
life
is in
him.
Then
Paul
went
back
upstairs
, broke
bread, and ate.
And after
speaking
until
daybreak
, he departed.
And
when
he
was
gone
up
, and
had
broken
the
bread, and eaten,
and had
talked
with
them
a
long
while
, even
till
break
of
day,
so
he departed.
And the
people
were
greatly
relieved
to
take
the boy
home
alive.
And they
brought
the lad
alive ,
and
were
not
a
little
comforted
.
We went
on
ahead
to the ship and
sailed
to
Assos, where
we
were
to take Paul aboard.
He
had arranged
this
because
he was
going
there
on
foot
.
But
we going
before
to the ship set
sail
for
Assos, there
intending
to take in
Paul :
for
so
had he appointed,
intending
himself
to
go
by
land
.
And when he met us at Assos, we took him aboard
and went
on
to Mitylene.
And when he met us at Assos, we took him in,
and came
to Mitylene.
Sailing on
from there
, we arrived
the next
day opposite
Chios .
The day after
that
we arrived
at Samos ,
and on
the following
day we came to Miletus.
And
sailing from thence
, we came
the following
day over
against
Chios ;
and
the next
day we touched
at Samos ;
and the day after
we came to Miletus.
Paul had decided
to sail past Ephesus to avoid
spending
time in the
province
of
Asia ,
because
he was in
a
hurry
to
reach
Jerusalem
, if possible, by
the day of Pentecost.
For
Paul had determined
to sail past Ephesus ,
that
he
might
not
have
to spend
time in Asia ;
for
he was hastening
, if it
were
possible for
him
, to
be
at
Jerusalem
the day of Pentecost.
From Miletus ,
Paul
sent to Ephesus for
the elders of the church.
And
from Miletus he
sent to Ephesus ,
and
called
to
him
the elders of the church.
When they came
to him, he said, “You
know how
I
lived
the
whole
time
I
was
with
you
, from the first day I arrived
in the
province
of
Asia .
And
when they were
come
to him, he said unto
them
, Ye
yourselves
know, from the first day that
I set
foot
in Asia ,
after
what
manner
I
was
with
you
all
the
time,
I
served
the Lord with great
humility
and with tears, especially
in
the
trials that
came
upon
me through
the plots of the Jews .
serving
the Lord with all
lowliness
of
mind,
and with tears, and
with
trials which
befell
me by
the plots of the Jews ;
I did
not shrink
back
from declaring anything that was helpful
to
you
as
I
taught
you publicly and from house to house,
how
I shrank
not from declaring unto
you
anything that was profitable,
and
teaching
you publicly ,
and from house to house,
testifying to Jews and Greeks alike
about
repentance to
God and faith in
our Lord Jesus Christ.
testifying both
to Jews and to
Greeks repentance toward
God ,
and faith toward
our Lord Jesus Christ.
And now, compelled
by
the
Spirit
, I am
going
to
Jerusalem, not knowing what
will
happen
to
me there .
And now, behold
, I go
bound
in
the
spirit
unto
Jerusalem, not knowing the
things
that
shall
befall
me there :
I
only
know
that in
town
after
town
the Holy Spirit warns
me that chains
and afflictions await
me.
save
that the Holy Spirit testifieth
unto
me in
every
city,
saying
that bonds
and afflictions abide
me.
But I consider
my life of no
value
to
me
, if
only
I may finish
my course and complete
the ministry I have
received from the Lord Jesus —the
ministry
of
testifying
to the good
news
of God’s
grace.
But I hold
not
my life of any
account
as
dear
unto
myself
, so
that
I may accomplish
my course ,
and the ministry which
I received from the Lord Jesus ,
to testify
the gospel
of the
grace of
God
.
Now I know that none
of
you
among whom I have
preached
the kingdom will
see my face again
.
And
now ,
behold,
I know that ye
all,
among whom I went
about
preaching
the kingdom ,
shall
see my face no
more
.
Therefore
I testify to
you this day that I am innocent
of
the blood of all men.
Wherefore
I testify unto
you this day ,
that I am pure
from
the blood of all men.
For I did
not shrink
back
from declaring to
you the whole will
of God.
For I shrank
not from declaring unto
you the whole counsel
of God.
Keep
watch
over
yourselves and the entire
flock of
which the Holy Spirit has
made you overseers.
Be
shepherds
of
the church of God,
which He purchased with His own blood.
Take
heed
unto
yourselves ,
and to
all
the flock ,
in
which the Holy Spirit hath
made you bishops,
to
feed
the church of the
Lord
which he purchased with his own blood.
I know that after my departure,
savage
wolves will
come
in among you and
will
not spare
the flock .
I know that after my departing
grievous
wolves shall
enter
in among you ,
not sparing
the flock ;
Even
from your own number,
men will
rise
up
and
distort
the
truth
to draw away disciples after them.
and
from among
your own selves
shall
men arise,
speaking
perverse
things,
to draw away the
disciples after them.
Therefore
be
alert
and
remember
that for
three years I never
stopped
warning
each
of
you
night and day with tears.
Wherefore
watch
ye,
remembering
that by
the
space
of
three years I ceased
not
to
admonish
every
one
night and day with tears.
And now I commit
you to God and to the word of His grace, which can
build you up and give you an
inheritance among all who
are sanctified.
And now I commend
you to God ,
and to the word of his grace, which is
able
to
build `
you '
up ,
and to
give `
you '
the
inheritance among all them
that
are sanctified.
I have
not
coveted anyone’s
silver or gold or clothing
.
I coveted no
man's
silver ,
or gold ,
or apparel
.
You
yourselves know that these hands of
mine
have
ministered to
my own
needs
and those
of
my
companions
.
Ye
yourselves know that these hands ministered unto
my necessities,
and to
them
that
were
with
me
.
In everything,
I showed
you that by
this
kind
of
hard
work
we
must
help the weak, remembering
the words of the Lord Jesus Himself :
‘
It is more blessed to give than to receive. ’”
In all
things
I gave
you an
example,
that so
laboring
ye
ought
to
help the weak, and
to
remember
the words of the Lord Jesus ,
that
he
himself said,
It is more blessed to give than to receive.
When Paul
had said
this
, he knelt
down with
all
of
them
and prayed.
And
when he
had thus
spoken
, he kneeled
down and prayed with
them
all
.
They all wept openly
as
they
embraced
Paul
and kissed him .
And
they all wept sore,
and fell
on
Paul's
neck
and
kissed him ,
They
were
especially
grieved
by
his
statement
that they would
never
see
his face again
. Then
they accompanied
him to
the ship.
sorrowing
most
of
all
for
the
word
which
he
had
spoken,
that they should
behold
his face no
more
. And
they brought
him on
his
way
unto
the ship.
