YLT
Young's Literal Translation

Berean Standard Bible
This,
now,
beloved, a
second letter to you I
write,
in
both which
I
stir up
your
pure
mind
in
reminding
`
you ',
Beloved, this
is
now
my
second letter to you .
Both of
them
are
reminders
to
stir you to
wholesome
thinking
to
be
mindful
of
the
sayings
said
before
by the holy prophets ,
and of
the
command
of
us
the
apostles
of
the
Lord and Saviour,
by recalling
what
was
foretold
by
the holy prophets and commanded
by
our
Lord and Savior
through
your
apostles.
this
first
knowing
, that there
shall
come
in the latter
end
of
the
days scoffers, according
to
their own desires going
on,
Most
importantly
, you
must
understand
that in the last
days scoffers will
come
, scoffing
and
following
their own evil
desires .
and
saying,
`
Where is the promise of his presence
? for
since the
fathers did
fall
asleep, all
things
so
remain
from the beginning of the
creation ;'
“
Where is the promise of His coming
? ”
they
will
ask.
“Ever
since our
fathers fell
asleep, everything
continues
as
it
has
from the beginning of creation .”
for
this
is
unobserved
by
them
willingly,
that the heavens were
of
old,
and the earth out of water and through
water
standing
together
by the
word
of
God
,
But
they
deliberately
overlook
the
fact
that long
ago
by
God’s
word
the heavens existed
and the earth was
formed
out of water and by water
,
through which the then
world ,
by
water
having
been
deluged,
was
destroyed;
through which the world of
that
time
perished
in
the
flood.
and the present heavens and the
earth ,
by
the
same
word
are treasured,
for fire being kept to
a
day of judgment and destruction of the
impious
men.
And by
that
same
word,
the present heavens and earth are reserved
for fire ,
being kept for
the
day of judgment and destruction of ungodly
men.
And
this
one
thing
let
not
be
unobserved
by
you,
beloved, that
one day
with the Lord `
is '
as
a thousand years, and a thousand years as
one
day ;
Beloved, do
not
let
this
one thing
escape
your
notice:
With the Lord a
day
is like
a thousand years, and a thousand years are
like
a
day .
the Lord is not slow in regard
to
the
promise ,
as certain
count
slowness, but is long-suffering
to
us
, not counselling
any
to be
lost
but all
to pass
on
to reformation,
The Lord is not slow in keeping
His
promise as some
understand
slowness, but is patient
with
you
, not wanting
anyone
to perish
but everyone
to come
to repentance.
and
it
will
come
--
the day of the Lord --
as
a thief in
the
night,
in
which
the heavens with a rushing
noise
will
pass
away
, and
the elements with
burning
heat
be dissolved
, and earth and the
works in
it
shall
be burnt
up
.
But
the Day of the Lord will
come
like
a thief .
The heavens will
disappear
with a roar
, the elements will
be destroyed
by
fire
, and the
earth and its
works will
be laid
bare
.
All
these,
then,
being
dissolved
, what kind of persons
doth
it
behove
you to be in holy
behaviours
and pious
acts?
Since
everything
will
be
destroyed
in
this
way
, what kind of people
ought
you to be ?
You
ought
to
conduct
yourselves
in holiness
and godliness
waiting
for
and hasting
to
the presence
of the day of God, by
which
the heavens ,
being
on
fire,
shall
be dissolved,
and the elements with
burning
heat
shall
melt ;
as
you
anticipate
and hasten
the coming
of the day of God, when
the heavens will
be destroyed
by
fire
and the elements will
melt in
the
heat.
and
for
new heavens
and a new earth according
to
His
promise
we
do
wait
, in
which
righteousness doth
dwell;
But
in
keeping
with
God’s
promise,
we
are
looking
forward
to
a
new heaven
and a new earth, where
righteousness dwells.
wherefore
, beloved, these things waiting
for
, be
diligent,
spotless
and
unblameable,
by
Him
to be found in
peace ,
Therefore
, beloved, as
you
anticipate
these things, make
every
effort
to be found at
peace —spotless
and
blameless
in
His
sight.
and
the
long-suffering
of
our Lord
count
ye
salvation, according
as also
our beloved brother Paul --
according
to
the wisdom given
to
him --
did
write
to
you,
Consider
also
that
our Lord’s
patience
brings
salvation, just
as our beloved brother Paul also
wrote
you
with
the wisdom God
gave
him .
as
also
in all the
epistles
, speaking in them concerning
these
things,
among
which
things
are certain
hard to be
understood
, which the
untaught
and unstable do
wrest
, as also
the other
Writings
, unto
their own destruction.
He
writes
this
way
in all his
letters
, speaking in them about
such
matters.
Some
parts
of
his
letters
are hard to understand
, which ignorant
and unstable people
distort
, as they
do
the rest
of
the
Scriptures
, to
their own destruction.
Ye,
then
, beloved, knowing
before,
take
heed,
lest
, together
with
the error of the impious
being
led
away,
ye
may
fall from your own
stedfastness,
Therefore
, beloved, since
you
already
know
these
things
, be
on
your
guard
so
that
you
will
not
be
carried
away
by
the error of the lawless
and
fall from your secure
standing.
and
increase
ye
in grace ,
and in
the
knowledge of our Lord and Saviour
Jesus Christ ;
to him `is'
the glory both now ,
and to the day of the
age!
Amen.
But
grow
in the
grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ .
To Him be
the glory both now and to the day of eternity.
Amen.
