Berean Standard Bible
Simeon
Peter, a servant and an
apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who did
obtain
a
like
precious
faith
with
us
in
the righteousness of our God and Saviour
Jesus Christ:
Simon
Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who through
the righteousness of our God and Savior
Jesus Christ have
received
a
faith
as
precious
as
ours
:
Grace to
you,
and peace be multiplied in
the acknowledgement
of God and of Jesus our Lord !
Grace and peace be multiplied to
you
through
the knowledge
of God and of Jesus our Lord .
As
all
things
to
us
His divine power (the
things
pertaining
unto
life and piety)
hath
given,
through the acknowledgement
of him who did
call
us through
glory and worthiness,
His divine power has
given
us
everything
we
need
for
life and godliness
through the knowledge
of Him who called
us by
His
own
glory and excellence.
through which
to
us the
most
great
and
precious promises have
been
given
, that through these
ye
may become partakers of a
divine nature, having
escaped from
the corruption in the world in
desires.
Through these
He
has
given
us His
precious and
magnificent
promises, so
that through them
you
may become partakers of the
divine nature, now
that
you
have
escaped the corruption in the world caused
by
evil
desires.
And
this same
also
--
all
diligence
having
brought
in
besides
, superadd
in
your faith the
worthiness,
and in
the
worthiness
the
knowledge
,
For
this very
reason
, make
every
effort
to
add
to
your faith virtue;
and to
virtue
, knowledge;
and in
the
knowledge the
temperance
, and in
the
temperance
the
endurance
, and in
the
endurance
the
piety
,
and to
knowledge, self-control;
and to
self-control
, perseverance;
and to
perseverance
, godliness;
and in
the
piety
the
brotherly kindness ,
and in
the
brotherly kindness the
love ;
and to
godliness,
brotherly kindness ;
and to
brotherly kindness ,
love .
for these
things
being
to
you and abounding
, do
make
`
you '
neither
inert
nor
unfruitful
in regard
to
the
acknowledging
of our Lord Jesus Christ ,
For if
you possess
these
qualities
and continue
to
grow
in
them
, they
will
keep
you from
being
ineffective
and
unproductive
in your
knowledge
of our Lord Jesus Christ .
for
he
with
whom
these things
are
not
present
is blind,
dim-sighted,
having
become
forgetful
of
the cleansing
of his old
sins ;
But
whoever
lacks
these traits
is nearsighted
to
the point
of blindness,
having
forgotten
that
he
has
been
cleansed
from
his past
sins .
wherefore,
the
rather
, brethren
, be
diligent
to make stedfast
your calling and choice,
for these things doing,
ye
may
never stumble,
Therefore
, brothers
, strive
to make your calling and election
sure.
For if
you
practice
these things you
will
never stumble,
for
so,
richly
shall
be
superadded
to
you the
entrance
into the age-during
reign
of our Lord and Saviour
Jesus Christ.
and
you will
receive
a
lavish
reception
into the eternal
kingdom
of our Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ.
Wherefore,
I will not
be
careless
always to
remind you concerning
these things, though ,
having
known
them ,
and having
been
established in the present
truth ,
Therefore
I will always remind you of
these things, even
though you
know
them and are
established in the truth you
now
have.
and
I think right ,
so
long as I am
in
this
tabernacle,
to
stir
you
up
in reminding
`you'
,
I think it
is
right to
refresh
your
memory
as
long as I live
in the
tent
of
my
body
,
having
known
that soon is
the
laying
aside of
my
tabernacle
, even
as also
our Lord Jesus Christ did
shew
to me ,
because
I
know
that this
tent
will
soon be
laid
aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ has
made
clear
to me .
and I will be
diligent
that
also
at
every time
ye
have,
after my outgoing
, power
to
make
to yourselves
the
remembrance
of
these things.
And I will make
every effort
to
ensure
that
after my departure
, you
will
be
able
to recall
these things at
all
times
.
For ,
skilfully
devised fables not
having
followed
out,
we did
make
known to you the power and presence
of our Lord Jesus Christ, but eye-witnesses
having
become
of his majesty --
For we
did
not
follow
cleverly
devised fables when
we made
known to you the power and coming
of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we
were
eyewitnesses
of His majesty .
for having
received from God the Father honour
and
glory,
such
a
voice being
borne
to him by
the excellent
glory :
`
This is My Son
--
the
beloved, in whom I was
well pleased ;'
For He
received honor
and
glory
from God the Father when
the
voice came
to Him from
the Majestic
Glory ,
saying,
“
This is My beloved Son
, in whom I am
well pleased .”
and this voice we
--
we
did
hear,
out
of
heaven borne,
being
with him in
the holy mount
.
And we
ourselves
heard
this voice from
heaven when
we
were
with Him on
the holy mountain
.
And
we have more
firm
the prophetic
word ,
to
which
we
do well giving
heed
, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, till
day may
dawn,
and a
morning star may
arise
--
in your hearts ;
We also
have the word of
the
prophets
as
confirmed
beyond
doubt.
And
you
will
do well to
pay
attention
to
it
, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until
the
day dawns
and the
morning star rises
in your hearts .
this
first
knowing
, that no prophecy of the
Writing
doth
come
of
private
exposition,
Above
all
, you
must
understand
that no prophecy of Scripture
comes
from
one’s
own
interpretation.
for not
by will of man did
ever
prophecy
come
, but by the Holy Spirit borne
on
holy
men
of
God
spake
.
For no
such
prophecy
was
ever
brought
forth
by the
will of man, but men
spoke
from
God
as
they
were
carried
along
by the Holy Spirit.
