Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz the
son of Josiah ,
and made him king in his
father's
stead
in
Jerusalem.
Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz son of Josiah and made him king in Jerusalem in
place
of
his
father
.
Joahaz
was twenty and
three years old when he began
to
reign;
and he reigned three
months
in Jerusalem.
Jehoahaz
was twenty -
three years old when he became
king,
and he reigned in Jerusalem three
months
.
And the king of Egypt deposed
him at
Jerusalem ,
and fined
the
land
a hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold.
And the king of Egypt dethroned
him in
Jerusalem and imposed
on
Judah
a levy
of
a
hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold.
And
the
king of Egypt made Eliakim his
brother king over Judah and Jerusalem, and changed his
name to Jehoiakim. And
Neco took Joahaz
his
brother ,
and carried him to Egypt.
Then
Neco
king of Egypt made Eliakim brother of
Jehoahaz
king over Judah and Jerusalem, and he
changed Eliakim’s
name to Jehoiakim. But
Neco took Eliakim’s
brother Jehoahaz
and carried him off
to Egypt.
Jehoiakim was twenty and
five years old when he began
to
reign;
and he reigned eleven
years
in Jerusalem :
and he did that
which
was
evil in the sight of Jehovah
his God.
Jehoiakim was twenty -
five years old when he became
king,
and he reigned in Jerusalem eleven
years.
And he did evil in the sight of the
LORD
his God.
Against
him
came
up
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon ,
and bound him in
fetters,
to carry
him to Babylon.
Then
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came
up
against
Jehoiakim
and bound him with
bronze
shackles
to take
him to Babylon.
Nebuchadnezzar also carried
of the vessels
of
the house of Jehovah
to
Babylon
, and put them in his temple at
Babylon.
Nebuchadnezzar also took
to
Babylon
some
of the articles
from
the house of the
LORD
, and he
put them in his temple in
Babylon.
Now
the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and
his
abominations which
he did
, and that which
was found in
him, behold,
they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah :
and Jehoiachin
his son reigned in his stead
.
As
for
the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, the
abominations he committed
, and all
that was found against
him, they are indeed
written in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah .
And his son Jehoiachin
reigned in his place
.
Jehoiachin was eight
years old when he began
to
reign;
and he reigned three months and ten days in
Jerusalem:
and he did that
which
was
evil in the sight of Jehovah
.
Jehoiachin was eighteen
years old when he became
king,
and he reigned in
Jerusalem
three months and ten days .
And he did evil in the sight of the
LORD
.
And
at
the
return
of
the year
king Nebuchadnezzar sent,
and brought him to Babylon, with the goodly
vessels
of the house of Jehovah,
and made Zedekiah his
brother
king over Judah and Jerusalem.
In
the spring,
King Nebuchadnezzar summoned
Jehoiachin
and brought him to Babylon, along
with the articles
of value
from
the house of the
LORD.
And he
made Jehoiachin’s
relative
Zedekiah king over Judah and Jerusalem.
Zedekiah was twenty and
one years old when he began
to
reign;
and he reigned eleven
years
in Jerusalem :
Zedekiah was twenty -
one years old when he became
king,
and he reigned in Jerusalem eleven
years.
and he did that
which
was
evil in the sight of Jehovah
his God ;
he
humbled
not himself before Jeremiah the prophet `speaking'
from
the mouth
of
Jehovah
.
And he did evil in the sight of the
LORD
his God and
did
not humble
himself before Jeremiah the prophet ,
who
spoke
for
the LORD
.
And
he also rebelled against king Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by God :
but he
stiffened his neck ,
and hardened his heart against turning unto
Jehovah
, the God of Israel.
He also rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by God .
But Zedekiah
stiffened his neck and hardened his heart against turning to
the
LORD
, the God of Israel.
Moreover
all the chiefs
of the priests ,
and the people, trespassed
very
greatly
after
all the abominations of the nations ;
and they polluted
the house of Jehovah
which he had hallowed
in Jerusalem.
Furthermore,
all the leaders
of the priests and the people multiplied
their
unfaithful
deeds
, following
all the abominations of the nations ,
and they defiled
the house of the
LORD,
which He had consecrated
in Jerusalem.
And Jehovah
, the God of their fathers, sent to them
by
his messengers ,
rising
up
early
and
sending,
because he had compassion on his
people,
and on his dwelling -
place :
Again
and again
the
LORD
, the God of their fathers, sent word
to His people
through
His
messengers because He had compassion on them
and on His dwelling place .
but they mocked the messengers of God, and
despised
his words ,
and scoffed
at his prophets, until the wrath of Jehovah
arose
against his people ,
till
there
was no
remedy.
But they mocked the messengers of God, despising
His words and scoffing
at His prophets, until the wrath of the
LORD
against His people was stirred
up
beyond
remedy.
Therefore
he brought upon
them the king of the Chaldeans, who slew
their young men with
the sword in the house
of
their
sanctuary, and
had
no
compassion
upon
young man
or
virgin
, old
man
or
hoary-headed:
he
gave them all into his
hand .
So
He brought up
against
them the king of the Chaldeans, who put
their young men to
the sword in the sanctuary, sparing
neither
young men
nor
young
women
, neither
elderly
nor
infirm.
God
gave them all into the
hand of
Nebuchadnezzar,
And
all the vessels
of the house of God, great
and small, and the treasures of the house of Jehovah,
and
the treasures
of the king ,
and of
his princes,
all
these
he
brought
to
Babylon
.
who
carried
off
everything
to
Babylon—
all the articles
of the house of God, both
large
and small, and the treasures of the house of the LORD
and
of the king and his officials
.
And
they
burnt
the house of God ,
and brake
down the wall of Jerusalem ,
and
burnt
all the palaces thereof
with
fire,
and destroyed all
the
goodly
vessels
thereof
.
Then
the Chaldeans
set
fire
to
the
house of God and broke
down the wall of Jerusalem .
They
burned
down
all the palaces and destroyed every
article
of
value
.
And
them
that
had
escaped from
the sword carried he
away
to
Babylon ;
and they were
servants to him and his sons until the reign
of
the
kingdom of Persia :
Those
who
escaped the sword were
carried by
Nebuchadnezzar
into
exile
in
Babylon ,
and they became
servants to him and his sons until the kingdom of Persia came
to
power.
to
fulfil
the
word
of
Jehovah
by
the
mouth
of
Jeremiah,
until
the land had
enjoyed its sabbaths:
`for'
as
long
as
it
lay
desolate
it
kept
sabbath, to
fulfil
threescore
and
ten
years.
So
the land enjoyed its Sabbath rest
all
the
days
of
the
desolation
, until
seventy
years were
completed,
in
fulfillment
of
the
word
of
the
LORD
through
Jeremiah
.
Now
in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that
the word of Jehovah
by
the mouth
of
Jeremiah might
be
accomplished
, Jehovah
stirred up
the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia ,
so
that
he
made
a proclamation throughout all
his kingdom ,
and `
put it '
also
in writing ,
saying,
In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, to
fulfill
the word of the LORD
spoken
through
Jeremiah, the
LORD
stirred the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia to
send
a proclamation throughout his kingdom and to
put it in writing as
follows:
Thus
saith
Cyrus king of Persia ,
All
the
kingdoms
of
the earth
hath
Jehovah
, the God of heaven, given me ;
and
he
hath
charged
me to build him
a house in
Jerusalem ,
which
is
in Judah. Whosoever
there
is
among you of
all
his people, Jehovah
his God be with him, and let
him
go up.
“This
is
what
Cyrus king of Persia says:
‘
The LORD
, the God of heaven, who
has
given me all
the
kingdoms
of
the
earth,
has
appointed
me to build a house for
Him
at
Jerusalem in Judah. Whoever
among you belongs
to
His people, may
the
LORD
his God be with him, and may
he
go up. ’”
