YLT
Young's Literal Translation
All
who
are under the
yoke of
slavery
should
regard
their masters as
fully
worthy of honor
, so
that God’s
name and our
teaching will
not be discredited.
As
many
as
are servants
under a
yoke ,
their own
masters worthy of all
honour
let
them
reckon
, that the
name of
God
and the
teaching may
not be evil
spoken
of;
Those who
have
believing masters should
not show
disrespect
because they are brothers
, but should
serve
them all
the
more
, since
those
receiving
their
good
service
are beloved believers
. Teach
and
encourage
these principles.
and
those having
believing masters ,
let
them
not slight
`them',
because they are brethren
, but rather
let
them serve
, because
they
are stedfast
and
beloved ,
who
of
the
benefit
are
partaking
. These things
be
teaching
and
exhorting;
If anyone
teaches
another
doctrine
and disagrees
with
the
sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and with
godly
teaching,
if any
one
be
teaching
otherwise,
and do
not
consent
to
sound words --
those
of our Lord Jesus Christ --
and to
the
teaching according
to
piety
,
he is conceited
and
understands
nothing .
Instead
, he
has
an
unhealthy
interest
in
controversies
and semantics
, out of which come envy, strife, abusive
talk
, evil suspicions
,
he is proud,
knowing
nothing, but
doting
about
questions
and word-striving
, out of which doth
come envy, strife, evil-speakings
, evil -surmisings
,
and
constant
friction
between
men
of depraved
mind who
are
devoid
of the truth .
These
men
regard
godliness
as
a
means
of
gain .
wranglings
of men
wholly
corrupted
in
mind ,
and
destitute
of the truth ,
supposing
the
piety
to
be
gain ;
depart
from
such;
Of
course,
godliness
with
contentment
is great gain .
but
it
is great gain --
the
piety
with
contentment;
For we
brought
nothing into the world ,
so
we cannot
carry anything
out of
it.
for nothing did
we
bring
into the world --
`it
is'
manifest
that
we are
able
to
carry nothing
out ;
But if
we
have
food and clothing,
we
will
be
content
with these .
but having
food and raiment
--
with these we
shall
suffice
ourselves;
Those who
want
to be rich, however,
fall into temptation and become
ensnared
by
many foolish and harmful
desires
that plunge
them
into ruin and destruction .
and
those wishing
to be rich, do
fall into temptation and a
snare,
and
many desires,
foolish and hurtful,
that sink
men
into ruin and destruction ,
For the
love
of
money
is
the
root of all kinds
of evil.
By
craving
it
, some
have
wandered
away
from the faith and pierced
themselves with many sorrows .
for a
root of all the
evils
is
the
love
of money
, which
certain
longing
for
did
go
astray
from the faith ,
and themselves did
pierce
through
with many sorrows ;
But
you
, O man of God, flee
from
these things and pursue righteousness, godliness
, faith, love, perseverance
, and
gentleness.
and
thou
, O man of God, these things flee,
and pursue righteousness, piety
, faith, love, endurance
, meekness;
Fight
the good fight
of the faith .
Take
hold of
the eternal
life to which you
were
called when
you
made
the good
confession
before many witnesses.
be
striving
the good strife
of the faith ,
be
laying
hold on
the life age-during,
to which also
thou
wast
called ,
and
didst
profess
the right
profession
before many witnesses.
I charge you
in
the
presence
of
God, who gives
life
to
all things, and of Christ Jesus, who made
the
good
confession
in
His
testimony
before Pontius Pilate :
I charge thee,
before
God, who is
making
all things alive
, and of Christ Jesus, who did
testify
before Pontius Pilate the
right
profession,
Keep this
commandment
without
stain
or
reproach
until
the appearance
of our Lord Jesus Christ,
that
thou
keep the command
unspotted,
unblameable,
till
the
manifestation
of our Lord Jesus Christ,
which the blessed and only Sovereign
One—
the King of kings and Lord of lords —will
bring
about
in
His
own
time.
which in
His
own
times
He
shall
shew
--
the blessed and only potentate,
the King of the
kings and Lord of the
lords ,
He
alone
is immortal
and
dwells
in unapproachable
light .
No one has
ever
seen
Him
, nor can
anyone
see Him.
To Him
be
honor
and eternal
dominion
! Amen.
who
only
is having
immortality,
dwelling
in light unapproachable,
whom
no one of
men
did
see
, nor is
able
to
see ,
to whom
`is'
honour
and might
age-during
! Amen.
Instruct
those who
are
rich in the present age not to be conceited
and
not
to put
their
hope in the uncertainty of wealth
, but in God, who richly
provides
all things for us
to
enjoy.
Those rich in the present age charge
thou
not to be high-minded,
nor
to hope in the uncertainty of riches
, but in the
living
God, who is
giving
to
us
all things richly
for enjoyment;
--
Instruct
them
to do good, to be rich in good works, and
to be generous
and
ready to share
,
to do good, to be rich in good works, to be ready to impart
, willing
to
communicate,
treasuring up for
themselves a firm
foundation for the future
, so
that they may take
hold of
that
which
is
truly
life.
treasuring up to
themselves a right
foundation for the time
to
come
, that they may lay
hold on
the
life age-during
.
O Timothy
, guard
what
has
been
entrusted to
you.
Avoid
irreverent
, empty
chatter
and
the opposing
arguments
of so
- called
“
knowledge, ”
O Timotheus
, the
thing
entrusted guard
thou
, avoiding
the profane
vain-words
and
opposition
of the
falsely
- named
knowledge,
which some
have
professed
and
thus
swerved
away
from
the faith .
Grace be
with you all
.
which certain
professing
--
concerning
the faith did
swerve;
the
grace `is'
with you. Amen.
