As to the rest, then , brethren , we request you, and call upon you in the Lord Jesus, as ye did receive from us how it behoveth you to walk and to please God , that ye may abound the more ,

Finally , brothers , we ask and encourage you in the Lord Jesus to live in a way that is pleasing to God , just as you have received from us . This is how you already live , so you should do so all the more .

for ye have known what commands we gave you through the Lord Jesus ,

For you know the instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus .

for this is the will of God -- your sanctification; that ye abstain from the whoredom,

For it is God’s will that you should be holy: You must abstain from sexual immorality;

that each of you know his own vessel to possess in sanctification and honour ,

each of you must know how to control his own body in holiness and honor ,

not in the affection of desire, as also the nations that were not knowing God ,

not in lustful passion like the Gentiles who do not know God ;

that no one go beyond and defraud in the matter his brother, because an avenger `is' the Lord of all these , as also we spake before to you and testified,

and no one should ever violate or exploit his brother in this regard , because the Lord will avenge all such acts , as we have already told you and solemnly warned you.

for God did not call us on uncleanness , but in sanctification;

For God has not called us to impurity , but to holiness.

he , therefore , who is despising -- doth not despise man , but God, who also did give His Holy Spirit to us .

Anyone , then , who rejects this command does not reject man but God, the very One who gives you His Holy Spirit.

And concerning the brotherly love, ye have no need of `my' writing to you, for ye yourselves are God- taught to love one another ,

Now about brotherly love, you do not need anyone to write to you, because you yourselves have been taught by God to love one another .

for ye do it also to all the brethren who `are' in all Macedonia ; and we call upon you, brethren , to abound still more ,

And you are indeed showing this love to all the brothers throughout Macedonia . But we urge you, brothers , to excel more and more

and to study to be quiet , and to do your own business , and to work with your own hands, as we did command you ,

and to aspire to live quietly , to attend to your own matters , and to work with your own hands, as we instructed you .

that ye may walk becomingly unto those without , and may have lack of nothing .

Then you will behave properly toward outsiders , without being dependent on anyone .

And I do not wish you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep , that ye may not sorrow, as also the rest who have not hope ,

Brothers, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death , so that you will not grieve like the rest , who are without hope .

for if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, so also God those asleep through Jesus he will bring with him ,

For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, we also believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him .

for this to you we say in the word of the Lord, that we who are living -- who do remain over to the presence of the Lord -- may not precede those asleep ,

By the word of the Lord, we declare to you that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who have fallen asleep .

because the Lord himself , in a shout , in the voice of a chief-messenger , and in the trump of God, shall come down from heaven, and the dead in Christ shall rise first ,

For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a loud command , with the voice of an archangel , and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will be the first to rise.

then we who are living , who are remaining over, together with them shall be caught away in clouds to meet the Lord in air , and so always with the Lord we shall be;

After that , we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air . And so we will always be with the Lord .

so, then, comfort ye one another in these words.

Therefore encourage one another with these words.
