Now concerning
spiritual `
gifts '
, brethren
, I would
not have
you ignorant
.
Now about
spiritual gifts, brothers
, I do
not want
you to
be
uninformed
.
Ye
know that when ye
were Gentiles
`ye
were '
led away
unto
those
dumb
idols ,
howsoever
ye
might
led
.
You
know that when you
were pagans,
you
were influenced
and
led astray
to
mute
idols.
Wherefore
I make
known
unto
you ,
that no man
speaking in
the Spirit of God saith
, Jesus is
anathema;
and no man
can say, Jesus is Lord, but
in
the Holy Spirit.
Therefore
I inform
you that no one
who
is
speaking by
the Spirit of God says
, “
Jesus be
cursed,”
and no one
can say, “
Jesus is Lord, ”
except
by
the Holy Spirit.
Now
there are diversities
of
gifts, but the same Spirit.
There are different
gifts, but the same Spirit.
And
there are diversities
of
ministrations
, and
the same Lord.
There are different
ministries
, but
the same Lord.
And
there are diversities
of workings
, but the same God ,
who
worketh
all things in all.
There are different
ways
of working
, but the same God works
all things in all people
.
But
to each one is
given
the manifestation of the Spirit to
profit
withal
.
Now
to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is
given
for
the
common
good
.
For
to one is given through the Spirit the word
of wisdom ;
and
to another the word
of knowledge ,
according
to
the same Spirit :
To one there
is given through the Spirit the message
of wisdom ,
to another the message
of knowledge by
the same Spirit ,
to another faith ,
in
the same Spirit ;
and
to another gifts of healings,
in
the
one Spirit ;
to another faith by
the same Spirit ,
to another gifts of healing
by
that
one Spirit ,
and
to another workings
of miracles ;
and
to another prophecy ;
and
to another discernings
of
spirits ;
to another `divers'
kinds
of
tongues ;
and to another the interpretation of tongues :
to another the
working
of miracles ,
to another prophecy ,
to another distinguishing
between
spirits ,
to another speaking
in
various
tongues ,
and to still
another the interpretation of tongues .
but
all these worketh
the one and the same Spirit, dividing
to each one severally
even
as he will
.
All these are
the work
of
one and the same Spirit, who
apportions
them
to each one as He determines
.
For
as
the body is one
, and
hath
many members,
and all
the
members
of
the
body,
being
many, are
one body ;
so also
is Christ.
The body is a
unit
, though
it
is
composed
of
many parts.
And although
its
parts
are
many, they
all
form
one body .
So it
is with
Christ.
For in one Spirit were
we all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether
bond
or free ;
and were all made
to
drink
of
one Spirit.
For in one Spirit we were
all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slave
or free ,
and we
were all given
one Spirit to
drink
.
For the body is
not one member
, but many.
For the body does
not consist
of
one part
, but of
many.
If the foot shall
say, Because I am not the
hand, I am
not of
the body ;
it
is
not
therefore
not of the body.
If the foot should
say, “
Because I am not a
hand, I do
not belong
to
the body ,”
that
would
not make
it
any
less
a
part
of the body.
And if the ear shall
say, Because I am not the
eye, I am
not of
the body ;
it
is
not
therefore
not of the body.
And if the ear should
say, “
Because I am not an
eye, I do
not belong
to
the body ,”
that
would
not make
it
any
less
a
part
of the body.
If the whole body were an eye, where were
the hearing? If the whole were hearing
, where were
the smelling
?
If the whole body were an eye, where would
the sense
of
hearing be
? If the whole body
were an
ear
, where would
the sense
of
smell
be
?
But now
hath
God set
the members each
one
of them
in
the body, even
as
it
pleased
him
.
But in
fact,
God has
arranged
the members of the body, every
one
of
them,
according
to
His
design
.
And
if they were all one member
, where were
the body?
If they were all one part
, where would
the body be
?
But
now
they
are many members
, but one body.
As
it
is,
there
are many parts
, but one body.
And
the eye cannot say to the hand, I have
no
need of
thee:
or
again
the head to the feet, I have
no
need of
you.
The eye cannot say to the hand, “
I do
not
need you.”
Nor
can
the head say
to the feet, “
I do
not
need you. ”
Nay,
much
rather
, those
members
of the body which
seem to be more
feeble
are necessary:
On
the
contrary
, the
parts
of the body that
seem to be weaker
are indispensable,
and those
`parts'
of
the body,
which
we think
to
be
less honorable, upon
these
we bestow
more
abundant
honor ;
and our uncomely
`
parts '
have
more
abundant
comeliness;
and the parts
we consider
less honorable, we treat
with
greater
honor .
And our unpresentable
parts are
treated
with
special
modesty,
whereas our comely
`
parts '
have no need :
but God tempered
the body together,
giving
more
abundant
honor to that `part'
which
lacked ;
whereas our presentable
parts have no such
need .
But God has
composed
the body and
has
given
greater
honor to the
parts
that lacked it,
that there should be no schism
in the body ;
but `
that '
the
members should have the
same
care
one
for another.
so
that there should be no division
in the body ,
but that its
members should have mutual
concern
for one
another.
And
whether
one member
suffereth
, all
the
members
suffer
with it; or
`
one '
member
is honored, all
the
members
rejoice
with it.
If
one part
suffers
, every
part
suffers
with it; if
one part
is honored, every
part
rejoices
with it.
Now ye
are the body of Christ, and severally
members
thereof
.
Now you
are the body of Christ, and each
of
you
is
a
member
of
it
.
And God
hath
set
some
in the church ,
first apostles, secondly
prophets, thirdly
teachers, then miracles, then
gifts of healings
, helps
, governments
, `divers'
kinds
of
tongues.
And in the church God
has
appointed
first of
all
apostles, second
prophets, third
teachers, then workers
of
miracles, and
those
with
gifts of healing
, helping
, administration
, and
various
tongues.
Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are
all `workers
of'
miracles?
Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do
all work
miracles?
have
all gifts of healings
? do all speak with
tongues? do all interpret?
Do
all have
gifts of healing
? Do all speak in
tongues? Do all interpret?
But desire earnestly
the greater gifts. And moreover
a
most excellent way show
I
unto
you
.
But eagerly
desire the greater gifts. And now
I
will
show
you
the
most excellent way.
