Berean Standard Bible
Be
imitators
of
me, even
as I also
am
of
Christ.
You
are
to
imitate
me, just
as I imitate
Christ.
Now I praise
you,
brothers,
that
you remember
me in all
things,
and hold
firm
the traditions, even
as I delivered
them to you.
Now I commend
you for
remembering
me in everything
and for
maintaining
the traditions, just
as I passed
them on
to you.
But I would
have
you know
that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is the
man, and the head of Christ is God.
But I want
you to
understand
that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.
Every man praying
or prophesying,
having
his head covered ,
dishonors his head.
Every man who
prays
or prophesies
with
his head covered dishonors his head.
But
every woman praying
or prophesying
with her head unveiled
dishonors her head .
For it is one
and
the
same
thing
as if she
were shaved.
And
every woman who
prays
or prophesies
with her head uncovered
dishonors her head ,
for it is just
as if her
head
were shaved.
For
if a woman is
not covered
, let
her also
be
shorn
. But
if it is shameful for a woman to be
shorn
or shaved, let
her be
covered
.
If a woman does
not cover
her
head
, she
should
have
her hair
cut
off
. And
if it is shameful for a woman to have
her
hair
cut
or shaved off
, she
should
cover
her head
.
For
a man indeed
ought not to have
his head covered
, because
he is the image and glory of God ,
but the woman is the glory of the
man.
A man ought not to cover
his head, since
he is the image and glory of God ;
but the woman is the glory of man.
For man is
not from woman, but woman from man ;
For man did
not come
from woman, but woman from man .
for
neither was man created for the
woman, but woman for the
man.
Neither was man created for woman, but woman for man.
For this cause
the
woman ought to have authority on her head, because of the angels.
For this reason
a
woman ought to have a
sign
of
authority on her head, because of the angels.
Nevertheless,
neither
is
the woman independent of the
man, nor the
man independent of the
woman ,
in
the
Lord
.
In
the Lord,
however,
woman is
not
independent of man, nor is
man independent of woman.
For as woman came from man, so a
man
also comes
through
a
woman ;
but all
things
are
from God.
For just
as woman came from man, so also man
is
born
of
woman .
But everything
comes
from God.
Judge for yourselves .
Is it appropriate
that
a woman pray to God unveiled
?
Judge for yourselves :
Is it proper
for
a woman to
pray to God with
her
head
uncovered
?
Doesn't
even
nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a dishonor
to him ?
Doesn’t
nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace
to him ,
But if a woman has long hair, it is a
glory
to
her ,
for her
hair is given to her for
a covering.
but that
if a woman has long hair, it is her glory?
For long
hair is given to her as
a covering.
But
if any
man
seems
to be
contentious
, we have no such
custom
, neither
do God's
assemblies
.
If anyone
is
inclined
to dispute
this
, we have no other
practice
, nor
do the
churches
of
God
.
But
in giving
you
this
command,
I don't
praise you
, that
you
come
together
not
for
the
better
but
for
the
worse
.
In the
following
instructions
I have
no
praise to
offer
, because
your
gatherings
do
more
harm
than
good
.
For
first of all, when you come together in
the
assembly
, I
hear
that
divisions exist
among you, and I partly
believe it.
First of all, I
hear
that
when you come together as
a
church
, there
are
divisions among you, and in
part
I believe it.
For
there also
must be factions
among you ,
that
those
who
are approved may
be
revealed
among
you
.
And
indeed,
there must be differences
among you to
show
which
of
you
are approved.
When therefore
you assemble
yourselves
together, it is not possible
to
eat
the Lord's
supper.
Now
then,
when you come
together, it is not the Lord’s
Supper you
eat
.
For in
your
eating
each one
takes
his own
supper
before
others
. One is
hungry, and
another is
drunken
.
For as
you
eat,
each of
you
goes
ahead
without
sharing
his meal
. While
one remains
hungry, another gets
drunk
.
What,
don't
you have houses
to eat and to
drink in
? Or do you despise God's
assembly,
and put
them
to
shame
who don't
have? What shall
I tell
you? Shall I praise you ?
In
this I don't
praise
you.
Don’t
you have your
own
homes
in
which
to eat and drink? Or do you despise the
church
of
God
and humiliate
those
who have nothing
? What can
I say
to
you? Shall I praise you for
this ?
No,
I will
not!
For I received from the Lord that
which
also
I delivered
to you ,
that
the Lord Jesus on the night in
which
he was betrayed took bread .
For I received from the Lord what
I also
passed
on
to you :
The Lord Jesus ,
on the night He was betrayed ,
took bread ,
When he had given thanks, he broke it ,
and said, "Take,
eat.
This is my body, which is broken
for you .
Do this in memory
of me. "
and
when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “
This is My body, which is for you ;
do this in remembrance
of Me. ”
In the same way he also
took the cup, after
supper,
saying, "
This cup is the new covenant in my blood .
Do this, as often as you drink, in memory
of me. "
In the same way ,
after
supper
He took the cup, saying, “
This cup is the new covenant in My blood ;
do this, as often as you drink it
, in remembrance
of Me. ”
For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's
death until he comes.
For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s
death until He comes.
Therefore whoever eats this
bread or drinks the Lord's
cup in
a
manner
unworthy
of the Lord will be guilty of the body and the
blood of the Lord.
Therefore ,
whoever eats the
bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in
an
unworthy
manner
will be guilty of sinning
against
the body and blood of the Lord.
But
let
a
man
examine himself ,
and
so
let
him
eat
of the bread ,
and drink
of the cup.
Each
one
must
examine himself before
he
eats
of the bread and drinks
of the cup.
For he
who eats and drinks in
an
unworthy
manner
eats and drinks judgment to
himself ,
if
he
doesn't
discern
the
Lord's
body
.
For anyone
who eats and drinks without
recognizing
the
body
eats and drinks judgment on
himself.
For
this
cause
many among you are weak and sickly
, and not
a few
sleep
.
That
is
why
many among you are weak and sick
, and a number
of
you
have
fallen
asleep
.
For
if we discerned
ourselves, we wouldn't
be
judged
.
Now
if we judged
ourselves properly
, we would
not
come
under
judgment
.
But when we are judged ,
we
are
punished
by the Lord, that we may
not be condemned with the world.
But when we are judged by the Lord, we
are
being
disciplined
so
that we will
not be condemned with the world.
Therefore
, my brothers, when you come together to eat, wait one
for another.
So
, my brothers, when you come together to eat, wait for one
another.
But
if anyone is hungry, let
him
eat at home, lest
your
coming
together be
for
judgment.
The
rest
I
will set
in order
whenever
I come.
If anyone is hungry, he
should
eat at home, so
that
when
you
come
together it
will not
result
in judgment.
And
when
I come ,
I
will
give
instructions
about
the
remaining
matters
.
