Then
King
David said to the whole
assembly, “
My son Solomon
, the
one
whom God has chosen, is young and inexperienced.
The task
is great because
this
palace is not for man, but for the
LORD
God.
David the
king
said to all
the assembly, Solomon
my son, whom alone
God has chosen, is yet
young and tender,
and
the work
is great ;
for
the
palace is not for man, but for Yahweh
God.
Now with all my ability
I
have
made
provision
for the house of my God —
gold for the gold articles
, silver for the silver, bronze
for the bronze
, iron for the iron, and wood for the wood ,
as
well
as
onyx for
the
settings
, turquoise
, stones of various colors, all kinds
of precious stones, and slabs
of
marble —all
in abundance.
Now I
have
prepared
with all my might
for the house of my God the
gold for the [things
of]
gold, and
the
silver for the [things
of]
silver, and
the
brass
for the [things
of]
brass
, the
iron for the [things
of]
iron, and wood for the [things
of]
wood ;
onyx stones
, and
[stones]
to
be
set
, stones for
inlaid
work,
and
of various colors, and
all manner
of precious stones, and marble stones
in abundance.
Moreover
, because of
my delight
in
the house of my God, I now
give
for
it
my personal
treasures
of gold and silver, over and above all that I have provided
for this
holy temple:
In
addition
, because I
have
set
my affection
on
the house of my God, seeing
that
I have
a
treasure
of
my own
of gold and silver, I
give
it
to
the
house
of
my
God,
over and above all that I have prepared
for the
holy house,
three thousand talents of gold (
the gold of Ophir )
and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the buildings,
even
three thousand talents of gold ,
of
the gold of Ophir ,
and seven thousand talents of refined silver, with
which
to overlay the walls of the houses;
for the gold work
and the silver work
, and for all the
work to be done
by the craftsmen
. Now
who will
volunteer
to consecrate himself to the
LORD
today
? ”
of
gold
for the [things
of]
gold ,
and of
silver
for
the [things
of]
silver, and for all manner
of
work [
to be made]
by the hands
of
artificers
. Who then
offers
willingly
to consecrate himself this
day
to Yahweh
?
Then the leaders
of the households
, the officers
of the tribes of Israel, the commanders
of thousands and of hundreds, and
the officials
in
charge
of
the king’s
work gave
willingly .
Then the princes
of the fathers'
[houses]
, and
the princes
of the tribes of Israel, and
the captains
of thousands and of hundreds, with
the rulers
over
the king's
work ,
offered
willingly ;
Toward
the service of God’s
house they
gave
5,000
talents and 10,000
darics of
gold
, 10,000
talents
of silver ,
18,000
talents of
bronze
, and 100,000
talents of iron.
and
they
gave
for
the service of the
house of
God
of
gold
five
thousand
talents and ten
thousand
darics, and
of silver ten
thousand
talents, and of
brass
eighteen
thousand
talents ,
and
of iron a
hundred
thousand
talents
.
Whoever
had
precious stones gave them to the treasury
of the house of the
LORD
, under the care
of Jehiel the Gershonite.
They
with
whom
[
precious ]
stones were
found
gave them to the treasure
of the house of Yahweh
, under the hand
of Jehiel the Gershonite.
And
the people rejoiced at
the
willing
response
of
their
leaders
, for
they had
given
to the
LORD
freely
and
wholeheartedly.
And King
David also rejoiced greatly
.
Then
the people rejoiced, because
they offered
willingly,
because
with
a
perfect
heart
they
offered
willingly
to Yahweh:
and David the
king
also rejoiced with
great
joy
.
Then
David blessed the
LORD
in
the
sight
of
all the assembly and said :
“May
You be
blessed, O
LORD
, God of our father Israel
, from
everlasting
to
everlasting
.
Therefore
David blessed Yahweh
before
all the assembly ;
and David
said ,
You are
blessed, Yahweh
, the
God of Israel
our father, forever
and
ever
.
Yours, O
LORD
, is the greatness and
the power and
the glory and
the splendor
and the majesty ,
for everything
in heaven
and on
earth belongs
to
You
. Yours ,
O
LORD,
is the kingdom, and You are exalted as head over
all.
Yours, Yahweh
, is the greatness ,
the power ,
the glory ,
the victory,
and the majesty :
for all
that
is
in the
heavens
and in
the
earth is
yours
. Yours is the kingdom, Yahweh,
and you are exalted as head above
all.
Both riches and honor come from
You, and You are
the
ruler
over all .
In Your hands
are
power and might to exalt
and give strength to all.
Both riches and honor come of
you, and you rule
over all ;
and
in your hand
is
power and might ;
and
it
is
in
your
hand
to make
great,
and to
give strength to all.
Now therefore, our God, we give
You thanks
, and we
praise Your glorious name.
Now therefore, our God, we thank
you, and praise your glorious name.
But who am I, and who
are
my people, that we should be able to give
as
generously
as this? For everything
comes
from
You, and from
Your own hand
we
have given to
You.
But who am I, and what
is
my people, that we should be able to offer
so
willingly
as this? For all
things
come
of
you, and of
your own have we
given you.
For we are foreigners
and
strangers in
Your
presence
, as were
all our forefathers.
Our days on earth are like
a shadow, without
hope
.
For we are strangers before
you
, and
foreigners,
as all our fathers
were:
our days on the
earth are as
a shadow, and
there
is
no
abiding
.
O
LORD
our God, from
Your
hand
comes
all this abundance
that we have provided
to build You a house for Your holy Name, and all of
it
belongs
to
You
.
Yahweh
our God, all this store
that we have prepared
to build you a house for your holy name comes
of
your
hand
, and is
all your
own
.
I know, my God, that You test
the heart and delight
in uprightness. All
these
things
I have given
willingly and
with
an
upright
heart,
and now I
have seen Your people who
are present here giving
joyfully
and
willingly to You.
I know also
, my God, that you try
the heart ,
and have
pleasure
in uprightness. As
for
me,
in
the
uprightness
of
my
heart
I have willingly offered
all
these
things:
and now have I
seen with
joy
your people ,
that
are present here ,
offer
willingly to you.
O
LORD
, God of our
fathers
Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, keep this desire
forever in the intentions
of the hearts
of Your people, and direct
their hearts
toward
You .
Yahweh
, the
God of Abraham, of
Isaac, and of
Israel, our
fathers,
keep this forever in the imagination
of the thoughts
of the
heart
of
your people, and prepare
their heart
to
you ;
And give my son Solomon
a whole
heart to keep and
carry
out
all
Your commandments, decrees
, and statutes, and to build Your
palace for which I have made provision. ”
and give to
Solomon
my son a perfect
heart ,
to keep your commandments, your
testimonies
, and your
statutes, and to do
all
these
things,
and
to
build the
palace ,
for which I have made provision.
Then
David said to the whole
assembly, “Blessed
be
the
LORD
your God. ”
So
the whole
assembly blessed the
LORD
, the God of their fathers .
They
bowed down and paid
homage
to
the
LORD
and to
the king.
David said to all
the assembly, Now
bless
Yahweh
your God. All
the assembly blessed Yahweh
, the God of their fathers ,
and
bowed down their
heads,
and worshiped
Yahweh,
and the king.
The
next
day
they offered
sacrifices and presented
burnt offerings to the LORD:
a
thousand bulls, a
thousand rams, and a
thousand lambs, along
with their drink offerings, and other
sacrifices in abundance for all Israel .
They sacrificed
sacrifices to
Yahweh,
and offered
burnt offerings to Yahweh,
on
the next
day
after
that
day,
even
one
thousand bulls, one
thousand rams, and one
thousand lambs, with their drink -
offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel ,
That
day
they
ate and drank
with great joy
in
the presence
of the LORD.
Then,
for
a
second time, they
designated
David’s
son
Solomon
as
king,
anointing
him before
the
LORD
as
ruler
, and Zadok as
the
priest.
and
ate and drink
before
Yahweh
on
that
day
with great gladness.
They
made
Solomon
the son
of David
king
the second time, and
anointed
him to
Yahweh
to
be
prince
, and Zadok to
be
priest.
So
Solomon sat on the throne of the
LORD
as king in
place
of his father David.
He
prospered
, and all Israel obeyed him.
Then
Solomon sat on the throne of Yahweh
as king instead
of David
his father, and prospered;
and
all Israel obeyed him.
All the officials
and
mighty men, as
well
as
all of King
David’s
sons ,
pledged
their
allegiance
to
King Solomon.
All the princes,
the
mighty men, and
also
all of the
sons of
king David
submitted
themselves
to
Solomon the
king
.
The
LORD
highly
exalted
Solomon in the sight of all Israel and bestowed on him royal majesty such
as had not been bestowed
on any king in
Israel
before him.
Yahweh
magnified
Solomon exceedingly
in the sight of all Israel ,
and bestowed on him such
royal majesty as had not been on any king before him in
Israel
.
David son of Jesse was
king
over all Israel.
Now
David the
son of Jesse reigned
over all Israel.
The length
of
David’s
reign
over Israel was forty years —
seven years in Hebron and thirty-three years in Jerusalem.
The time
that
he
reigned
over Israel was forty years ;
he
reigned
seven years in Hebron ,
and thirty-three [
years ]
reigned
he
in Jerusalem.
He died at
a ripe
old age, full of years
, riches, and honor ,
and his son Solomon
reigned in his place.
He died in
a good
old age, full of days
, riches, and honor :
and Solomon
his son reigned in his place.
Now the acts of King
David, from
first to
last, are indeed
written in the Chronicles
of Samuel the Seer, the Chronicles
of Nathan the Prophet, and the Chronicles
of Gad the Seer,
Now the acts of David the
king
, first and
last, behold,
they
are written in the history
of Samuel the seer, and
in
the history
of Nathan the prophet, and in
the history
of Gad the seer,
together
with all the
details
of
his reign ,
his might, and the circumstances
that came
upon
him and Israel and all the kingdoms of the lands
.
with all his reign and
his might, and the times
that went
over
him ,
and over
Israel ,
and over
all the kingdoms of the countries
.
